There's lots of long hair cat owners who have had to had matts cut out under sedation, it's not uncommon and it doesn't mean you neglect them either.

It's just how cats are.

Ememem84 · 28/08/2016 22:02

Wahoo! £56 made on eBay! Just have to wait for payment! Yippee!!

In bed. Really tired today must have been all the fresh air!

tomorrows plan is jam. Have to find jars....

Colliefeatures · 28/08/2016 22:10

He sounds happy with you wreck. He would be hiding under a table if he wasn't happy. When we first adopted our cat she had bald patches too. The vet said it was stress and to stroke her, feed her oily fishy cat food, and to play.

Now whenever she gets stressed again - we make sure we run around with a shoelace for her to pounce on. We often forget to play with her but it helps her unwind.

She has stinky breath at the moment and I think she needs a vet visit for bad teeth.

I have just been told that the book "WI Practical Know-How In the Kitchen" has brilliant, simple frugal tips. Does anyone have this book? I'm intrigued!

Cagliostro · 28/08/2016 22:25

Wow that's a great amount Em well done! :)

I bought a bra. It's gorgeously bright blue and under £30. If it fits I will get the plum one which for some reason is slightly more expensive. Spreads the cost as well.

Just realised I forgot to go via a cashback site. FFS.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/08/2016 22:48

My vet suggested arnica cream for one of my cats when he had a bald patch wreck

Right must get myself to bed night night you lovely lot Smile

Dizzylizzie29 · 28/08/2016 22:57

Put some stuff on eBay and Facebook selling sites today, want to put the money towards paying off credit card which currently stands at 1800.i hate it, completely pointless debt. Has been ripped up now 😁

Dizzylizzie29 · 28/08/2016 22:59

Introducing dh to NSD. Any recommendations on how many to aim for realistically in a month

Dizzylizzie29 · 28/08/2016 23:15

Sorry another post from me-I have a gammon shank I was hoping to cook tomorrow in the slow cooker.any ideas for something frugal fitting with Michael Mosleys high fat low carb principles?

Methenyouplus4 · 28/08/2016 23:22

Dizzy- I would say amount of NSD doesn't really matter as (in theory) you could have 99 NSD then go over budget on 1/100!

For me, the key is creating a realistic budget that takes as much as possible into account (and tracks for unforeseen things so you can add them to following months budget), then stick to that budget. For me, NSD target is just about stopping frivolous spending. So some people might spend each day as get food/petrol/pay bill they budgeted for etc but not spend on things like coffee (bring flask), parking (walk/find free parking) etc. It's about really thinking about where your money goes and if you feel you are getting value for it.

AGenie · 29/08/2016 01:47

Italian do you really literally have a booklet of advice on natural remedies from your mil? I would be interested to see that. I use a lot of traditional remedies too and they're often very good.

I'm having a bit of a frustrating day. My stomach went a bit wonky when I test drove that car this morning and it still hasn't come back to normal. I am carefully pacing myself and hoping it resets. I think it's possible that one of my batch cooking efforts was a bit undercooked, so I have binned it. Frustrating though, when we were having a good holiday.

Aargh back to work for me today. I guess I'm being eased into it a little as I'm starting later but I've to get the Dc up & dressed & dropped off which I usually don't do so that's going to make for a tough week.

Unescorted · 29/08/2016 06:48

Lilac working on a bank holiday is no fun.

I think the frugaleers are preparing for world domination and you have all got your evil genius cats in advance.

I have a joyous day of spraying the front garden with some ultra strong chemical warfare weed killer to get rid of the mares tail. Even then it is going to need another 2 spprays in the new year. It cost £26 for 5l, but the dilution for general use is 25ml per litre of water (I will need to make it up slightly stronger because of thhe pernisiousness of the MT). I think I will have enough for the whole street.

When I finish doing that I have a drive to Portsmouth and a drive back - 8 hours in normal conditions. Today I am taking a chill pill and will see how long it takes.

AGenie · 29/08/2016 07:03

unescorted my parents have a cunning scheme for making weedkiller work on marestail. I'll ask them what it is.

OP posts:
Unescorted · 29/08/2016 07:07

Please.... I am infested with it. Brought in with some home made compost I was kindly given. Sometimes the cheapest is not the best value.

WreckTangled · 29/08/2016 07:23

Unescorted I'm sailing around Portsmouth way today Smile

Thanks everyone. I will take him to the vet to be checked anyway. They also have nurses who will cut the matts out so will ask about that although he hasn't got many right now.

I think I need to buy some food to take sailing as I've over slept and not got time to make anything.

Colliefeatures · 29/08/2016 07:41

Enjoy sailing. We go sailing most weeks and love it!

Unescorted · 29/08/2016 07:42

If you see the ferry from St Marlo come in - with 1 very scruffy looking bloke & small scruffy boy on a tandem that will be my boys. I am expecting them about 6:30ish. Give them a wave & a shout - they respond to Richpips & Minipips. It is the end of a month long adventure around France.
Have a lovely day sailing :)

lilacclery · 29/08/2016 08:00

It's not a bank holiday in ROI Sad

Sailing sounds fab

I should've gotten up earlier instead of mnetting but I did grab food for lunch & snacks

I've decided to get the kindle fire hd 10.1 with keyboard case when I get my deposit back from company I've finished with. I'll have €4 change!
Any discount codes or cashback with Amazon? Grin

allthebestplease · 29/08/2016 08:09

Not sure if you've come across this before, but its quite interesting www.mrmoneymustache.com/2016/07/13/making-space-for-badassity/

I'm fed up of our mattress/bed/husband...dh bounces around in bed, this wakes me up, it makes me feel sea sick, I can't then sleep. The bed is a king size, so I was thinking of getting 2 mattresses that were 2ft 6" size - would that work?

Also I'm going to use my sewing machine to do some art work - I used to many moons ago paint on silk the sew and add texture to the piece.

I've been thinking abut getting some 'peace' into my world and the above article reminds me that I need to do this, I want to do yoga/meditation. I keep putting it off...might start a September resolution.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/08/2016 08:39

Lila Kidstart do Amazon cashback. If it works in roi.

SpaceKablooie · 29/08/2016 08:40

all, that's an interesting article. I've read some of Mr Money Moustache's articles before. He's quite extreme Grin! But he has an interesting viewpoint and some good ideas. He made heaps of £ in finance IIRC.

needastrongone · 29/08/2016 09:03

I meant to comment about your sewing machine yesterday all, but I often draft a reply based on what I remember to reply to, and then forget half of it! Sounds like it will be put to good use.

I know nothing of cats, but hope yours is ok wrecked.

I know nothing of sailing either!

Enjoy the very long journey unescorted

Today I have given a tenner to DD, who is going to Lightwater Valley with friends, but will have to pay the rest herself, as she's done Leeds Fest the last 2 days, and pony camp these holidays, plus Florida.

Not sure what the rest of us will do tbh.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/08/2016 09:18

all

Can you make Roman blinds on that? I want to make washable Roman blinds because it looks easy on YouTube but nothing's really that easy.

We bought one blind for £70 and it was rubbish.

Ememem84 · 29/08/2016 09:33

Food shop today. YayHmm thinking about sending Dh with the list because I can't be bothered.

Will pack up my eBay sales today and post tomorrow. Unsold items will go to charity shop.

Declutter. Declutter. Declutter.

Also making jam. But need to food shop first. Will try with just the lemon (thanks to whoever suggested yesterday). But need to buy lemon...

SnugglySnerd · 29/08/2016 09:34

We have absolutely nothing planned for today except perhaps a trip to B&Q to buy some new curtain tracks. We are going to attempt to put these up ourselves. Last time we tried such a thing we ruined both the drill and the wall and ended up paying a bloke to put it all right. DH wants to pay someone again. I think it's about bloody time we learnt to do basic DIY. I expect I will eat my words at some point!
Might also go blackberrying, it's a lovely day.
