Have ordered boots from Shoeaholics but need half a size smaller. Haven't decided whether to return or keep for DD1's birthday next month.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/07/2016 17:42

SnugglySnerd · 16/07/2016 17:46

Bonjour Em, j'adore St Malo, bon voyage!
8-9 pounds on a top up shop and £5 on ice creams in the park. When did ice cream vans get so expensive??

needastrongone · 16/07/2016 18:25

Yes, Italian, Ankara would be an unsettling place to be at the moment. I hope your FIL is ok, and your MIL not too anxious. We are both lucky then to live in beautiful places. Smile

Ahh babs, that's tricky. You are ultimately unhappy there, would being promoted make you any happier? Are the meds helping at all?

How's the foot Adora, are you able to get about a touch or going stir crazy?

Wrecked Flowers All DC are dicks at times. It's hard.

Had a really relaxed day again. Given we competed mid-week, this feels like a free weekend. House is spotless, due to nagging the DC, dogs are walked, tea is in the oven. Had a run, shower, glass of wine in hand. Film with DC later. DH is on a stag do up in Scotland.

Spends.
£16 passport photos for the DC's bus passes.
£5 Marmite (DD discovered she love it and ground coffee).
£20 Meal Deal at M&S rather than a take out.

DS being at home all the time is maxing out the food. Whatever I buy, he just eats. If I buy a punnet of strawberries, there's a scrum for them between the DC, I've bought 3 this week. Full punnets of grapes, I've bought 4 bags of apples this week too. Cheese, Weetabix, quiche, salad, nuts, malt loaf, beans on toast, jacket spuds. He doesn't really do crisps or crap, apart from biscuits (limited availability in this house). I am thinking of making him a massive pasta salad to dip into. He's like the BFG, stretching upwards endlessly....

babsmam · 16/07/2016 18:33

In general I can cope with the work at that grade it's just this particular situation. We are all under the cosh though. No the meds are making me feel worse although it's difficult to tell if it's stress or side affects.
I will speak to my boss Tuesday.

Lovely day out at English heritage, got free parking up a side street. £15 on food and ice cream.

It's like a plague of locusts in this house too. Dd and I were debating three or four huge punnets of tomatoes. We should have got 4!

Tryingtosaveup · 16/07/2016 18:34

Have a lovely holiday Bad and Creme. Hope it's warm and sunny for you both.
Em, yes Israel sounds good. I went there about 6 years ago and stayed with my friend on her kibbutz for a month. It was very interesting. Security was very high as you say. We'll probably go to Asia as it's cheap and relatively peaceful.
Babes...hope your life gets better soon. 🍰

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/07/2016 18:35

Need people tell me with 2 boys I have that to come although at almost 6 and 19mths they eat their way through a mountain of fruit a week thank goodness for aldi

Tryingtosaveup · 16/07/2016 18:39

I love Le yum, Em.😊

needastrongone · 16/07/2016 18:44

Honestly, myself and DH are really small. DS is very slight (28 inch waist) but growing and growing and growing and growing and growing... DD had done growing by 14 max, DS hadn't even started then. He's started running every day for half and hour at 6am, this isn't helping.... Smile

Babs, back to the GP about the meds, or is it early days and time for them to settle down still?

babsmam · 16/07/2016 19:14

It's early days with the Meds.

My two eat a ridiculous amount.

Em I got most of that but need to brush up my French. Le oops.

WreckTangled · 16/07/2016 19:40

Le yum Grin I got most of that.

Babs Flowers hope the meds settle down soon.

I just dropped my microwave curry on the floor. Dh had to rescue me from an almighty meltdown.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/07/2016 19:52

£23 on a practice tool from eBay.
£5 on 3 bottles of beer.

GB power have written saying my electrics going up 7% so I will find a new supplier. I haven't got any exit fees on that account.

Cagliostro · 16/07/2016 19:59

I particularly liked 'le windmill on a stick' :o

Sorry things are crap babs - they do say when going on meds (at least some that I've been on) it gets a bit worse at first. Hang in there, keep talking Brew Chocolate.

Tayto I would LOVE to see the Book of Kells. I like the animated film about it (and the same people did another film, Song of the Sea, in the last couple of years, which is beautiful) and to see the real thing would be amazing. I hear they only turn the page once a year as it's so delicate - can't help wondering if there are people who make the visit every year so as to never miss a page. :)

Well wanted to take boys to Alton towers this week ds2 is free and ii could have matter convinced them ds2 wasn't quite four but no way under3!! So priced it up £100 buying online and even with a bogof voucher on gate similar price so I ebayed and Gumtree and now have 4 tickets coming first class recorded delivery sent Mon from 2 different people for £30 should either set not arrive there is someone selling individual etickets £13 on eBay so with
L buy one Tues eve and print at dh work on the morning and claim! Via PayPal for non received tickets but hopefully all will work out fine - I wouldn't mind paying the £100 but ds1 is on!y just over a metre tall not quite 1.1m so we will spend our time on little rides and cbeebies land, we haven't been before and about hr and half away so looking forward to it, also couple other days out planned this week as not going away on holiday we decided lots day trips instead

Taytocrisps · 16/07/2016 21:10

Cag I've only been to the Book of Kells once and that was when I was showing a visitor around Dublin. To help preserve the book, they only display two pages (two books) at a time and I think they change the page each day. The long room there is also very impressive (see pic). I believe there are long queues to get in so I hope DD is patient enough to queue.

I can't think of a witty title, so here is July's Frugaleer Thread! All welcome.
Ememem84 · 16/07/2016 21:26

tayto en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_(cake) these are madeleines. They are so le yum.

I've had kir royals and fruit des mers and salad and chips. And wine. To celebrate parents 40th anniversary. It's so lovely here. Now in bed with Dh who is watching the golf. We're going for crepes for breakfast tomorrow then a late lunch before the boat home tomorrow. Yippee!

I am completely exhausted. Monday night I am doing nothing. Just sleeping.

I paid for dinner tonight €277 for 6 of us (including 6 sparkly drinks 2 bottles of wine and two bottles of water). Dsis will send me half.

cag couldn't think of the French for a pinwheel/windmill thingy....

Whataboutwhathuh · 16/07/2016 21:57

NSD which is good for a Saturday!

AdoraBell · 16/07/2016 23:10

em am I right in assuming you speak a bit of French ? If so, could I ask you for a little help with one phrase please?

need I still can't get a shoe on my foot, tried on Monday and hurt it again, then on Wednesday DbloodyH straightened out the blanked I had over my feet and whacked it. So I'm still stuck at home, hence the on line shopping Blush

Hope you feel better soon babs

My two get through mountains of fruit too. Huge pasta salad sounds like a good plan need. DD1 is an emotional eater and currently stressed about loosing 'enough' weight for our holiday in a couple of weeks. She wants to do a detox but I can't afford it until after the holiday, she's not happy.

lilacclery · 16/07/2016 23:14

I'm Smile that I understood all ems French post as well!
I'm languishing in the bath with some Epsom salts & baking soda, didn't have lavender oil cos I hate it! I've also been running so hoping it will help my muscles Hmm

I've never seen book of kells either

I can't think of a witty title, so here is July's Frugaleer Thread! All welcome.
ipsogenix · 17/07/2016 03:26

Thanks need I'll think about a jetwasher. I love your story about your ds's eating habits. Good stuff.

Sorry to hear that things are difficult Babs. Flowers

Em LOL at "une windmill on a stick". Enjoy your visit.

Lilac I tried an epsom salt bath once and it gave me the head woozles something chronic. I couldn't stand up for a couple of hours afterwards. Very weird to think that we can absorb magnesium through the skin, and that we can absorb enough to have such an effect.

I'm sitting up puzzling about whether to go ahead and do the Race For Life after the attack in Nice. On the one hand ds would love the buzz of the crowd. On the other hand I'm not completely sure that it's so clever to gather together in huge unwieldy crowds in public places just now. Much head-scratching, and I really should be sleeping.

Ememem84 · 17/07/2016 06:58

adora yes. I do. A little bit anyway. What is it you need help with

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2016 07:53

Flipping heck Adora, I bet the air was blue when he did that. Pity you never trained one of your gorgeous dogs to head butt groins. Detoxing? Medias got a lot to answer for.
