Well... We've been having fun reading M15 docs online about crowd safety. Now off to the race. Wish us luck!

AdoraBell · 17/07/2016 09:21

Yes fluffy I really messed up on the dog training Sad Grin

And yes, again, bloody media, in this case Youtubers, have a lot to answer for. This thing she wants to do isn't an extreme detox, it's aimed at getting back to a diet of unadulterated food and removing the crap that. But it has set rules and isn't easy to do on holiday. Imagine 2 weeks in the south of France without eating an ice-cream Shock

I hope you get your Leccy sorted.

em I need to be able say that I can't eat gluten, please, but I have never learn't French Blush

Today should be an NSD.

AdoraBell · 17/07/2016 09:23

Good luck Ipsos, where did you find the info please?

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 17/07/2016 09:26

So I'm going to have a chill out day. I'm pretty worn out after 5 days of nonstop work of varying hours.

I think I may read a book and give my body a rest. I love reading.

I may pop out to shops but trying not to.
Does anyone know any good creams/remedies for athletes foot? Yuck. I do have clotamizole 1%. I think it's from wearing my work shoes constantly all week and warm weather. I don't have another pair to alternate with.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2016 09:33

That's an anti yeast cream Dont, you can use either a very basic generic anti fungal OR surgical spirit on a cotton bud twice a day. You don't need anything branded.

Spraying underarm antiperspirant on the feet works well in warm weather.

Good luck ipsos

ipsogenix · 17/07/2016 10:01

Thanks for the good lucks. :-)

Adora I've been reading the sort of post-match analysis in the FT about all the terrorist hits so that I know how they work and what to do if I get stuck in one, but I also found this useful thing:

www.gov.uk/government/publications/counter-terrorism-protective-security-advice-for-major-events

The basic thing is that if there is a terrorist event and you are in it you need so be able to find what's called ballistic cover, which basically means you need to hide behind something bulletproof like a wall or a tree or a bridge or a mud bank. It's like playing a very grown-up game of dodge-ball. Then the organisers need to be able to evacuate the area swiftly. I've been looking at the race route and they've planned it very cleverly, with lots of safe places to hide and loads of evacuation routes.

The old race for life route was just round and round the park, with nowhere to hide and no evacuation route, as the park is edged by a deep, fast-flowing river. I really like the new route. I think they've thought it out well, and that gives me a lot of confidence.

Dh says that statistically I'm more likely to be hit by a falling rock, but I do like to do my homework just in case. Smile

Ememem84 · 17/07/2016 10:10

adora I'm not totally sure how you'd say "gluten" in French. I don't eat is "Je ne mange-pas le......" I have walked past a bakery though here and they've advertised "Les pains gluten-free" so maybe "Je suis "gluten-free" would do it. We never learned the word gluten at school when we did French and none of my family are GF (dad is half French so we spoke it occasionally at home) so it's never been needed iyswim.

I'll try and find out though!

babsmam · 17/07/2016 10:29

£88 in M&M direct on 3 pairs of shoes for me and DH

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2016 10:34

Adora you can print off a card explaining it to people. www.celiactravel.com/cards/french/

WreckTangled · 17/07/2016 10:40

Today we're off to our friends for a bbq. Hopefully the cloud will bugger off. Will
Pop into sainsburys for flowers and bubbles for the kids as she told us not to bring anything. They have way more money than us anyway Grin

I need to hoover first and Dh is just mowing the lawn.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 17/07/2016 11:04

Fluffy where can I aquire surgical spirit? Is that what it says on the tin?

I just found the clotramizole in the cupboard and it said for fungal infections. Glad I haven't used it.

AdoraBell · 17/07/2016 11:08

Thanks Ipsos em and fluffy, I will look at those links. Hadn't thought of the celiac website as I'm intolerant as opposed to full on celiac.

Hope you have a good time at friend's Wreck

Don't hope you feel better, I would rest unless you have to go out.

CremeEggThief · 17/07/2016 11:24

Scorchio here in Crete Smile. Spends: €90 so far, €20 of which was on a safe and €20 holiday spending for DS.

CremeEggThief · 17/07/2016 11:26

Ipso, well done for feeling the fear and doing it anyway!

Babs, it took a good 4 or 5 weekso for Citalopram to really start working properly for me. Any longer than that and I would go back to the GP, if I were you. X

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2016 11:50

Dont a Boots or a pharmacy will sell it.

Cagliostro · 17/07/2016 13:21

Ah, Dublin sounds so lovely, I really want to go!

I just had an epiphany that a windmill is un moulin. So... Un moulin sur la stick :o

NSD for me, still just staying in and hoping the antibiotics actually make a difference at some point. Hmm

Dh was being an ass all weekend so after attending mass this morning I excused myself from family day out. Spent 2.5 hours having a tidy up & clear out in my room. Just had dinner out by myself while reading Marie Kondo and hope to get out running before the troops arrive home. €20 on starter & main Blush

needastrongone · 17/07/2016 18:09

Well done Ipsos and Ipsos Jnr, that's utterly fantastic, brilliant. I started my running career doing the Race for Life, wonderful event. Fab.

We've had a brill day too. We went barrel racing for the first time. It was a tenner for the day.

And... DD and pony only went and WON!!!! The pony was quite simply brilliant at it, and he is the proud owner of a massive sash, declaring him a champion Grin

babsmam · 17/07/2016 18:19

well done ipsos and good for you lillac.
dont worry about keeping up snuggly - we all fall off now and again, just keep posting.
Well done DD and Pony

Booked midprice tickets for the local outdoor event. £80 for Friday 29th . I can park my car at my mams and walk down. Going to the skipton food festival the day after so that will be a spendy weekend.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2016 18:24

Well done Need DD I hope pony liked his sash.

Excellent ipsos & ds, he did really well to run a race.

Snuggly Don't worry, frugality is a way of life not just a mn thread.
