Back home after a busy (but fun) holiday in Dublin.

We stayed with family so no accommodation costs.

Days out worked out something like this:-

Day 1 The Book of Kells
Me €11 Admission
DD Free Smile
Lots of window shopping Free

Day 2 Bray Airshow
No admission charge
€12 for 2 fairground rides x 2 people

Day 3 Powerscourt Gardens
Me €9.50 admission
DD €5 admission

Tara's Palace (Museum of Childhood)
Me €5 admission
DD €3 admission

Day 4 Skyline (rooftop) tour of Croke Park (Gaelic Games Stadium)
Me €20 admission
DD €12 admission

I think I spent €50 topping up our LEAP travel cards.

So that's €115 approx. for four action packed days.

We got food from the supermarket the first day. The second day we had coffee and cakes while out and a Chinese take away in the evening. The third day was the most expensive food wise as we had no option but to eat at the Avoca Cafe in Powerscourt. The fourth day we got a subway and had a picnic in a city park.

My sister is taking DD to the musical 'Billy Elliot' for a birthday treat next weekend so that will take us to the end of July and the end of the first month of the holidays. It seems like she's been off forever. I'm amazed when I read on posts here that the UK kids are only breaking up around now.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the holidays. I'll do a proper catch up tomorrow.

needastrongone · 27/07/2016 07:50

Sounds like a lovely break Tayto, in Dublin.

Today I am soon going for run. Then I need to pop to Boots for some additional holiday toiletries. Then I have getting nails and feet etc done and on with packing.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2016 08:13

I'm going to try yogalaites today if I can get there as my thighs are killing off yesterday. Kids off to kids club again so may have a garage sort out as I think I've done most things in the house now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2016 08:14

Sounds fab tayto.

Ememem84 · 27/07/2016 08:19

Sounds like a great break tayto

I have to go to the post office today. And need to do a Food shop after work. Fun times (if only online grocery shopping was available here...).

Dh has just made lunch. Salad with bacon and potatoes with a poached egg.

I also have to pick up tickets for Oddsocks Macbeth in the park from the theatre at the weekend. Yippee.

ItalianWiking84 · 27/07/2016 08:46

Sounds very fab tayto. Wanna go to Ireland ones with dd so defn gonna write your list down at opting...
My parents just picked up dd who didn't have time to say goodbye or anything just running to the car hi hi, she's going to have fun. We are going to look at prams and cars where we can fit 2 car seats and a pram in, our cars are 2 smaller ones and were worried it will be to tight.

Em: we don't have online grocery shopping here, kinda missing it after been use to it for sone years in Scotland

Home. Left to rain and back to rain, but at least the sun is out this morning. We didn't get home until 11, so after the best part of 11 hours travelling, I broke my usual rule of unpacking straight away and went to bed. First load of washing is on now and I'm just finishing my first cup of tea in 12 days. Maybe it's not so bad to be home after all...Smile

SnugglySnerd · 27/07/2016 09:34

That sounds like a lovely break Tayto.
We've finally booked a camping trip for next week. Send positive sunshine vibes please!
Also sorted all the documents we need for the mortgage meeting. Thanks to Marie Kondo it took about 5 mins to get them all together. Previously that would have taken hours of stressful rummaging!
Rain seems to have stopped so taking DD to NT place for a picnic. That will be free except for unless we have ice creams!

lilacclery · 27/07/2016 11:15

Work & Life are hectic this week so not keeping up with the thread.
Discovered I've been charged fees on my personal current account this quarter, which I usually am exempt from so must find out why!

Cagliostro · 27/07/2016 12:47

Sounds like a fab break tayto - what was the book of kells like?

I've done a little more sorting out this morning so feeling quite positive. It's very muggy outside though.

Been asked for piano/maths tomorrow so I'll be earning a bit, hurrah. Also means I need to tidy up :o as we've got stuff all over the living room due to the big sort-out.

I can't imagine what I'd do without online grocery shopping! Shock

That sounds organised Life! I washed my lovely winter boots the other day as they'd been festering in the cupboard. I was wondering if I should sort out all the gloves, hats etc to put away as well. I keep finding gloves all over the place.

Hi all we are finally online Grin

ahh it feels good to be back!!

So whats occurring? Anyone summarise all important thread news for me please?!

I am doing much better financially than I anticipated so that is good, its payday today and the bank account is looking quite healthy. Need to work out a rough August budget as we are going away for a few days plus still need to get loads of stuff for the house.

I managed to fine a solid pine wardrobe for adds room at a reuse shop for £40 which I am pleased about, my plan is to try and paint it......

Cagliostro · 27/07/2016 18:12

Yay Girlie! welcome back to civilisation! :o

ipsogenix · 27/07/2016 18:15

Welcome back Girlie. That's great that you're back online again.

I'm cheerfully shovelling iron-rich foods into ds to see if the Pediatrician is right about the anemia idea. Ds is enjoying it very much.

The weather is good here. Not too hot and not too cool. Very nice.
