An old friend of mine went from secondary teaching into teacher recruitment, worth a look?

babsmam · 16/06/2016 22:00

Brown sauce!!! I feel a flounce coming on heathans
That's lovely of your Mam girlie. Eeee you are going to be a homeowner.
Purple stress is the worst it's just so debilitating. Are you senior school? Will it ease once the GCSE lot leave?

babsmam · 16/06/2016 22:01

£91 aldi, got a folding BBQ and fathers day gift too, £25 sainsburys and more tomorrow £100 ish, £20 Iceland

Tryingtosaveup · 16/06/2016 23:04

Girlie, thanks for the link. The museum looks awesome. I will definitely go.

Tryingtosaveup · 16/06/2016 23:16

So sorry about your stress Purple. I think teaching has become a really shit job recently. I don't think I could do it.
The data stuff alone would blow my mind.
Just count the weeks/ days til the end of term and try not to take it personally.
Have you thought about tutoring a bit to supplement your income , at least to see if there is any work and if you like it.
One thing for sure...if they keep treating teachers like this there will soon be no teachers left. So many I know are leaving to,do other things.
Anyway, have a ( another) glass of wine and look after yourself. We need good teachers like you

Ursulatodd · 17/06/2016 06:30

5 weeks to go purple - hang on in there and then reassess in the summer. How many days of supply would you need a month to match your salary? (although I know supply only possible with flexible childcare). How about TA work, childminding, tutoring, dropping another day? The stress of teaching is relentless BrewBiscuit for you today and enjoy your weekend x

WreckTangled · 17/06/2016 06:48

Better than ketchup. So uncouth Wink

Dd is six today! I've got to go to work though and then it's her summer concert tonight. Busy busy busy. I also need to go into town after work to pick up a dairy free cupcake for my niece as she can't have birthday cake.

babsmam · 17/06/2016 07:16

Wreck Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2016 08:07

Purple I know how you feel. Get through the next few weeks & then re-assess. Teaching and healthcare have had all the joy sucked out of them. What's the point in training us then questioning our judgement?.

Happy Birthday Mini Wreck Cake

Wedding reception was ok. Weddings are pretty standard aren't they? Left at half nine due to floods. Cost Dh £30 at the bar so he's saying no more weddings.

Today will be NSD.

Ememem84 · 17/06/2016 08:44

Day off work today. Off to London for Ascot tomorrow! Eeee!! 🐎🐎🐎

Have some money for betting on the horseys (nothing fun major but it'd be rude not to have a bet).

babsmam · 17/06/2016 09:43

Would indeed be rude not to em. Have fun

Whataboutwhathuh · 17/06/2016 09:48

Have fun em!

SpaceKablooie · 17/06/2016 10:41

Hi everyone Smile, I hope you're all having a good Friday.

I don't feel particularly frugal at the moment - there are so many annual things due etc. But they're included in our overall budget, so it's okay really.

We're toying with the idea of having a big (for us!) holiday in a few years time, so that might become something that we have to save for. DS will be a bit older then of course, we'll have to make sure that we choose something that he'll enjoy too. Hmm.

Ememem84 · 17/06/2016 10:54

Having my third not very calming camomile tea of the morning. Trying to get my flight anxiety under control. Confused

Only one small cry this morning. In the shower so Dh didn't see. He sort of ignores it now and just pushes me onwards. Which helps. But still. Not sure why I'm so anxious this time. It's not like it's my first flight. And it's only London. I've been a hundred million times.

Something to meditate on.

Whataboutwhathuh · 17/06/2016 11:22

Maybe some rescue remedy? I think the world is feeling a bit scary right now and that can manifest in many ways.

SpaceKablooie · 17/06/2016 11:44

Em, what about going to your GP to ask about getting beta blockers that you can just take when you need them? I did this for something else - I've only taken one so far, but it really helped. You can still drive etc when you take them, but they stop the horrible effects of anxiety (tight chest, racing heart, clammy hands etc). The only downside for me was that I felt quite tired afterwards. Lots of luck.

babsmam · 17/06/2016 12:48

£33 @ butchers, baking well under way. I'm finding this site very laggy atm.

Em anxiety has no rhyme or reason. Hope you are ok once you get under way

lilacclery · 17/06/2016 12:57

don't sorry to hear you're unwell and things are very tight on top of that. Hope op is more successful this time or is it something that needs repeating regularly, none of my business

tayto that's terrible about BRS money, I hate sending cash with dd, wish it was possible to pay these things by bank transfer. Reminded me that I must send in money with dd for hers next week. Medicine & doctors are so expensive here.

cag and ipsos love the expression I have found my people, I've found great comfort in trimming down my 'friends' and just enjoying the few I have rather than trying to keep up with everyone and having my own free time and energy suffer. I'm 33 btw and rarely drink now either, it's not something that bothers me

Small bit of an improvement on the van, the door needs replacing but the guy will take existing door instead so hopefully that'll cut down on costs some bit, have given dh €60 cash and my cc and hoping cc won't be hit too much

fluffy and lilac if I lived closer we could all shred together Grin

Thanks for admiration on me catching up on thread but I didn't last month and I felt it threw me off a bit

em I just can't go into boots at all, I want it all when I go there but luckily the survey crowd I do surveys for pay out in boots or tesco vouchers so when I can I get boots ones and store them up until I've €20/€30 and get stuff then.

babs I find exercise helps improve all aspects of my life - my figure, my mental health, sleep, even my housework improves! Reading some of the threads about people who like me work full time, have a family etc and how do they manage a few people said they prioritise exercise over most other things mid week and I've taken that on board and it's helping

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2016 14:18

You know I'm getting in to superdrug stuff in a big way. There own brand stuff is cheap but actually works. I even got a make up sponge for £3, the branded ones are £16 😮. Thanks to the body butters the skin on my legs is soft for the first time in ages.

I got a cheap mascara that makes my lashes look amazing. It was £5 in a half price promo.

I was fretting on how I'd replace the lancome one but I haven't used it since.

Hope the exchange happened Girlie.

NSD.

WreckTangled · 17/06/2016 14:58

Em one of the Drs from work works as the dr at the races.

Yes hope today is going well girlie.

£3.60 on a cupcake for ds and a dairy free one for my niece as she can't have dd's birthday cake.

babsmam · 17/06/2016 16:55

That's what i need to do lilac re fitness. After this weekend. Promise.
£136 in sainsburys, redeem £20 nectar points so £116.
Lost it when I came in as I've spent all day cleaning, sorting and baking and mil undid it in an hour. Fucking seething. Can't say out as sulking will last years

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2016 17:16

Say it. If she goes nc think of the tidiness.

babsmam · 17/06/2016 17:21

Wish I could fluff. I am usually at work until they have gone. Tis better.

£6 off £20 at Smyth's toys with code smt6 until 19 th

PurpleRibbons · 17/06/2016 17:53

Thanks for all you kindness. Fluffy you have it spot on, it is the constant questioning of us and having to back it up with a load of paperwork every time we do anything plus all the new GCSE changes which are creating days and days of work to prepare for. Of course school has only designated one day per department to do this in school time so the rest will have to be done in our own time.
I have done the odd bit of tutoring and loved it but my subject is not one people generally look for tutors for unfortunately. I don't really want to leave my job as I love being in the classroom with the kids and my colleagues are fab but the job is overwhelming at times.
Anyway, enough of my moaning, it's Friday! Beer and football tonight. Nothing much planned this weekend yet but sure we'll think of something.
Hope you are ok Em.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/06/2016 18:03

Contracts have been exchanged!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Seriously need to start packing!!

Work has been stupidly busy all week, am totally ready for the wend.

Purple sorry to hear things are so rubbish, I don't know how any teacher does it tbh Wine

Need I am so lucky with my mum, funnily enough she never got on very well with mum (my nan) and was determined that it would be different for her relationship with me which it has been! I hope it continues with me and dd...

Em I am terrified of flying as well getting to Menorca was really hard. I had a panic attack on the way up Sad no real words of wisdom but tons of empathy - its a horrible feeling.

Lsd £2.50 on much needed ice creams after work for dd and I.
