Congratulations home owner you!!!!! So so chuffed for you!!!

CremeEggThief · 17/06/2016 18:48

That's fab, Girlie. Great news. So, when are you moving? Wine

Ememem84 · 17/06/2016 19:09

Update. I am ok. I had a cry. Then and this will probably out me as I plastered it all over Facebook I realised that my life and even my anxiety issues re flying aren't half as bad as this lady's. She had to dress as a bunch of grapes for work today.

I was fine at the airport. Then got on the plane and was seated in the emergency row. Panicked a bit. But was ok. We've arrived at hotel (super cosy) and have been for a wine. Off to dinner somewhere now. Yippee!!

I'm also booked in for accupuncture on Tuesday and were going to talk through my anxiety. I'm determined to sort this without prescription medication. Not that there's anything wrong with that I just don't feel it's for me. I'll go as a last resort. But feel I can manage this myself if I have the right tools.

Whataboutwhathuh · 17/06/2016 19:19

Enjoy em! I was born in ascot so it always makes me feel nostalgic though I've never been to the races.

PurpleRibbons · 17/06/2016 19:46

Well done Em and congratulations girlie!
Managed to resist the lure of the takeaway and made delicious nachos with last night's leftover chilli. That makes it an NSD!

WreckTangled · 17/06/2016 20:17

Bought an Indian for dinner and it was so disappointing. I'm not happy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2016 20:28

Congratulations Girlie.

Ememem84 · 17/06/2016 21:57

girlie omg!!! Congratulations!! How exciting! Xx

Yes it's scary as it just takes me by suprise. and is completely irrational. But. It's something that was probably passed onto me by my dad who refuses to fly. I'm determined to control it. Do not want to have kids and have them see that I'm afraid of it and to panic them.

lilacclery · 17/06/2016 22:02

Girlie meet Tom & Danny Da
Can you guess that children picked the names!?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2016 08:24

Oh they are adorable. At least they didn't choose Jack & Danny 😳, imagine them calling that out at the vets.

lilacclery · 18/06/2016 08:40

em my mother has painted something like that bovine painting I'll take a pic when I visit her in a few weeks

Frugal win dsd just confirmed for me that she has purchased tickets for me & her dad(my dh) to go see one of our favourite bands in Nov for him for Father's Day & the hotel for his birthday & Christmas present GrinGrin

Trying dh is not at all precious about his van we even bought it dented so that's some saving grace for me

Finally caught up GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

lilacclery · 18/06/2016 08:45

Or Tom & Jerry!! Taking animals to vet isn't really something that we do a lot in Ireland. Vets are mainly used by farmers. These are male cats if they were female I was going to get them neutered.

I was trying to encourage dd to call Tom Tommy incidentally this is the band dsd got tickets for.

eva is problem with downstairs lack of storage or ds not putting away one thing before starting another?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2016 08:54

Don't they neuter male cats in Ireland?.

northender · 18/06/2016 09:23

Morning all. I've not caught up as efficiently as lilac but have done my best.
need chronic pain can be so debilitating, hope things improve v soon
Em enjoy Ascot,
Girlie how exciting, so pleased for you
ipso that is really understanding of your DS' head teacher, not the sort of thing dd's head would ever do (still, only 5 weeks to go at primary for dd, yay!)
cag it's lovely to hear you sounding so positive about the life changes you're making
lilac thanks for the link to your sister's blog. I probably have about 6 stones to lose but I'm not focussing on that, just getting healthy & fit. The session with the trainer was good and since I first met with her I have improved my diet, drinking much more water, positive eating choices & feel better already. If you don't mind, I'll keep you posted on here.

So today I've woken up in a grey Devon after a good journey down last night. Yesterday was an NSD, today won't be as we're going out for a walk & then a pub lunch with dh's family. It'll be lovely as we'll get to see baby nephew again (nearly 3 months since the last time). Dh is going to speedway tonight with his sister & her dh so dd & I are very willing babysitters. Tomorrow afternoon ds & I are getting the train to Taunton for a cricket match (with a player he has wanted to see for ages). Dh& dd will then drive up and pick us up en route back to Lancashire

Just about to wake ds up to take him to the local minor injuries centre for an X-ray as he injured his thumb last night at cricket nets. He chipped a bone earlier this year and thinks this may be the same Sad. I really hope not as it would mean a few weeks of no cricket which would be devastating for him. The season is short as it is and he has been playing well and is pushing for a county trial.

Now have a start date for the loft conversion (August 8th) which is v exciting but quite scary too. More reason to stay frugal.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2016 09:27

Good grief it's non stop with kids isn't it? I hope he hasn't chipped another bone.

Loft extension sounds really exciting.

lilacclery · 18/06/2016 09:40

Fluffy I suppose they do, would it change their personalities to get them done. I was only thinking of not wanting lots of kittens & feral ones at our own house kind of selfish I guess

North that sounds great about pt & improving diet, would love to hear more I think a good few of us here try to eat better & keep in shape

Just logged into joint account to discover sky payment for 20th has already left account which leaves me short for groceries, dh's transfer takes day to get to our account as he's a different bank, hoping he hasn't done it yet and can just use his bank card for shopping otherwise will need to shop twice this week. Had to print out info for him to switch banks this week as years of encouraging him hasn't worked & he's paying about €120 a year in fees when my bank & joint acc are free fees SmileAngry watch this space

Sorry app said it hadn't posted Confused

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/06/2016 09:45

Lila the kittens are so cute! Please do get them neutered though, un neutered toms are more likely to spray (not just outside), get into fights and wander off and get lost, plus I think un neutered toms are more susceptible to certain health problems. I would also strongly recommend you get some insurance, my two cats have both had health problems and I would have been scuppered without the insurance. Also need to find out from the vets things like flea and worm control plus their vaccinations.

Thanks for all the congratulations, I do feel your support on this thread has definitely helped get me to this point! Smile

Yes Em unfortunately there was no hiding my fear in front of dd on the way out, I did get a bit of a better grip on things on the way back though!

Moving day will be Monday 27th!! Eek really should get of mn and start packing!!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/06/2016 09:46

Lila if anything neutered toms tend to be more loving and settled.....

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2016 10:02

It makes them soppier & reduces the size of their territories massively. So there much less likely to roam off & getting lost. Domestic cats have rubbish hunting skills because mum cat won't have taught them how to hunt, getting lost is a problem.

Other benefits are less fight wounds which cost a fecking fortune to treat, less antisocial behaviour like spraying urine & reduces spread of diseases spread from fights like cat AIDS.

In the uk most people neuter, microchip and vaccinate before letting them out. It's more "the done thing" over here though, we had an Irish lady on the litter tray who said much the same as yourself though.

Neutering can be done from a young age, shelters over here do it from 8 weeks but most vets wait until 4-5 months.

I think men are often against it for obvious reasons but it's not like their trouble nuts are coming off & they recover very quickly. Mine was up at 7am the next day pouncing on my toes. Stitches are internal and don't seem to bother them. It's cheaper to do boys than girls too.

My sil had a smashing little male kitten she refused to neuter because "he's not going to roam" and he was gone before 6 months after roaming off under a car Angry, her current cats are neutered.

You could start a cultural revolution in Ireland of proper cat care. If no one routinely neuters I bet you've got higher feral cat rates than us and cat mortality. Cats reach 17-20yo here.

WreckTangled · 18/06/2016 10:56

Cagliostro · 18/06/2016 11:28

Hi all, have lots of catching up to do, although should probably be doing work/housework instead... Hmm

Just wanted to say YAY YAY YAY Girlie! :o :o :o Congratulations!

Internet being really stupid ATM which is making everything rather difficult. Argh. And yesterday I realised mid-afternoon that DS had his Beavers sleepover! Oops! Actually did quite well packing quickly and getting all sorted though, despite the fact that it took three times as long to get all the info due to internet issues. I think this time last year I would've fallen into a pit of panic and despair about messing up. Trains are still ridiculously bad but DD and we ended up having to go via Gatwick so we had a cheap dinner there, just us two. She was actually more upset than DS (he'd said "I'm excited [first time away for a night] but a little bit sad") - she cried after we dropped him off, because she missed him! So we had nice snuggled up time, we rode the transit between terminals just for fun as we go past it on the bus a lot and she'd never been on it, and when we got home I let her stay up late etc. Got to do it all again today to pick him up, SIGH. Expensive times. But worth it I think as he will feel very grown up.

In other news, I have been told to write a little bio of myself because the manuscript I edited the other week is being published soon AND WILL HAVE MY NAME ON IT :o :o :o
