I think halogen ovens are great, you couldn't do a 20lb turkey in one but for everyday stuff they are fab. I got one with a hinged lid off andrew james. It comes with 3000 accessories you don't need. The two trays and the skewers have been the most useful.

I reckon in the year I've had it it's paid for itself. Plus the bowl goes in the dw. I took the shelves out of the oven and store it in the oven.

We had a range cooker in the old house, it was truly rubbish. I wonder if they are form over function?. Worse still the Landlord had used up vital dishwasher space to fit the damn thing. It looked great though.

Those GCSE results are amazing MissA. You must be a brilliant teacher.

"Smashing time" Grin

Fluffy thanks, have quickly had a look on British Gas and I am seriously thinking of contacting them regarding the house insulation. I also may be eligible (sp) to get a new boiler for £250. Just looking into my paperwork now - so watch this space.....

needastrongone · 20/08/2015 16:53

Well done MissA

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/08/2015 17:17

£35 on petrol
£128 on house and contents insurance with legal and personal possessions away from home up to £5000. I should get £33.50 cashback.

I hope you do get a new boiler etc, it would all make a big difference to your bills.

Mil has a new condensing boiler, she paid for it herself, and she says it's really quick to heat up compared to their old combi. At least I don't have to worry about their boiler conking out in January.

peppansalt · 20/08/2015 17:25

£128 on house insurance Fluffy?? ????. Ours is about 6 times that. Switched last year and still comes in at over £900

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 20/08/2015 17:30

Just been sent bills by SSE (from whom we are in process of switching after moving in here) for WAY more electric and gas than we have used, the estinated usage is basically double what we have actually used and when I try to call them I get "user busy"!!!! HOW can they be "busy" it is their job to answer! Angry

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 20/08/2015 17:36

Aw thanks for all the congrats-es Smile it was all the pupils really, they're the ones who sit the exam! But it is a relief.

Boiling over SSE...

Peonies if you've recently received your estimated bill can you submit actual readings online? I did that when I got the email reminder and the bill came through fine for the gas (not the electric but that's a complicated situation and the estimate is half what I've used Sad ).

NK5BM3 · 20/08/2015 18:04

Well done ipsos and MissA! Grin

Finally managed to log back in. My name wasn't on the list. But have had to change the password. I can't cope with all these new passwords!!

Nsd!! Spent £1 on stamp but found a £1 coin when cleaning the sofa! Yay. I've not vacuumed for so long - cleaner does it, but clearly she doesn't do the sofas! Hm.

We are having lasagne tonight. Made with yesterday's bolognese sauce.

Tomorrow to London. Trains will be near £50 for 4 of us with the friends and frailty card. Lunch out, possibly dinner too. Will be expensive. But it's part of the holiday treats.

needastrongone · 20/08/2015 18:24

peppa Context, re house insurance. I pay £33 pm for contents and buildings. Large 4 bedroom detached in a small and relatively affluent rural location. Unlimited contents insurance. Small excess. Prepared to except the post code does affect matters, but I bet the buggers all come here to nick our stuff, rather than stay in their own back yard!

574ejones · 20/08/2015 18:27

Another NSD. Went to order the brushed cotton bedding but none in stock for Cock and Collect at my local Dunelm!

DH made a bolognaise in the slow cooker. Four of us had it for tea, and I have frozen three portions too!

AuditAngel · 20/08/2015 18:49

Need when we get into September I'd love to know who you're insured with as I'm paying £67 a month for a 5 bed with a £200 excess.

£31 in Asda, needed eye drops desperately this morning, also bought some shoe liners, a lunch box, water bottle for DD2, some fruit.

peppansalt · 20/08/2015 18:50

Need, we insure with NFU because our house is a large converted barn and most insurers can't get their heads round that! We are very rural.
Pay £85 pm building and contents!!

Think I will investigate if other insurers will take on a brick/timber property.

girliefriend · 20/08/2015 18:54

Fluffy are you going to name change? If you do I will Wink if i can work out how to do it mind!

So spendy day, spent £88 in Sainsburys however £35 of that was on clothes and i got a lot of clothes for that (4 t.shirts, a pair of trousers, 2 leggings, a pack of knickers and a dress for my friends baby!!)

Still a lot on food but the cupboards were pretty bare Grin got my weeks wrong so the £8 off voucher didn't count which was annoying but did get 12p off a ltr of fuel.

Spent £40 on petrol but got £4 off with the above voucher!

Dd is home, tired but happy Smile

Collieputthekettleon · 20/08/2015 18:55

So envious of everyone who can day trip to London for the day. I miss London terribly. We moved back to the SW in 2012. (For the wrong reasons)

Chilli in the SC! Smells good. And will keep some back for jacket potatoes tomorrow.

ipsos yes the first ceiling LED bulb I bought strained my eyes but I made a giant lamp shade and it solved the problem Grin none of the more recent bulbs have affected me at all and my eyes struggle with light (like a bright overcast day will give me a headache & i need to wear sunglasses)

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/08/2015 19:03

I hadn't considered namechanging. Do you think it's necessary?.
