I'm negotiating a price for something, and I'm finding it toe curlingly excruciating ConfusedGrin. Argh.

Missymoomoo1979 · 01/08/2015 12:28

Yes I think I'll try online shopping again, I am starting to love my slow cooker again, it's so handy if I'm finishing at 7 in the evening, so I need to meal plan and online shop Grin

This holiday saving is scaring me, it's such alot I want to save and I've never managed it before, but we haven't had a family holiday in over 5 years, and not 1 abroad.

Pointlessfan · 01/08/2015 12:36

Collie I've just posted a thread over on camping but do you know how I can get mould off the bedroom compartment of the tent please? The soaking it got last weekend hasn't done it any good!

Ipsos They are very stable because all the workings are at the bottom. I cram mine full and let it run until it's just dripping a bit every now and then.

I can line dry most of the year here and use airers the rest of the time.

The worst way to dry clothes is to drape them directly onto a radiator, it makes your boiler work really hard because the evaporation cools the hot rad.

Du has kindly agreed to fit the new step down transformer into the lamp over the kitchen table when he's off the week after next so I am chuffed. It means it will run on led bulbs afterwards.

Welcome newcomers.

£110 in Aldi WTF? Shock

To be fair massive trolley load which had better last at least a fortnight

ItsAll · 01/08/2015 13:42

Hurray, negotiation complete Smile, and everyone is happy.

Lovetoknit · 01/08/2015 14:36

Did my weekly shop at Tesco after they sent us again the little book of coupons (£4 off £40 shop). Managed to stick to my shopping list and noticed even dc are getting used to only buying items on the list. We did get couple strange looks after my ds said rather loudly "don't need to go in biscuit isle, we make our own"
Went to local beach afterward for couple hours before dinner. Dc wanted to go today as well but it's cloudy, cold and windy today. Feels like autumn rather then summer
Hope it's better tomorrow for Family fun day at the local outdoor centre, it's for charity so entry is free so should be LSD.

OhHelp... The checkout girl did raise her eyebrows and joked about Aldi's daily profits going through the roof!

Unescorted · 01/08/2015 16:12

Vino thanks for the top tip.... althought if they are asking for less fussy shopping tips, can you get them to put all the like items with like. Dried apricots in 3 different places, cous cous in 2 places, nuts drive me nuts.....

I do my Aldi shop once a month.... I have managed over ?200, but it took 2 trolleys and may have had a bit of alcohol in it.

Camping frugality tips - make 2 dinners before you go & freeze them. Freeze milk, water - keeps the beer cold. We also take ready / home made pasta & curry sauces.

We also take proper cooking things - makes it easier and then you are less tempted to eat out.

TheseSoles · 01/08/2015 16:13

Oh thank you, pointless! Birmingham is probably a bit too far but very kind of you Flowers we need campingaz 904/907 apparently for the stove. I have a mountain warehouse voucher so will try and get it from there.

Collie, good tips! Thank you

And will definitely check out Tesco to see if we can get any cheap hot chocolate!

TheseSoles · 01/08/2015 16:16

Unescorted if you put your frozen milk/water/icepacks in your toolbox before you leave how long does it stay cold in there for?

TheseSoles · 01/08/2015 16:16

Coolbox! Darn autocorrect

Lucie99 · 01/08/2015 16:19

Feeling positive that I contacted credit card company today and changed the statement date to the beginning of each month. This will enable us to have a clearer idea of our monthly spending at a glance (we pay off the card in full each month). It's only a little thing but I do think it will help in the grand scheme of things. Smile

girliefriend · 01/08/2015 16:23

Hi all, well somehow managed to spend £60 in Morrisons Shock that is my 'big shop' for the month though, will be topping up from Lidls for the rest of August!! Although saying that I have got an £8 off a £40 shop voucher in Sainsburys at the end of the month so will be using that Grin

Have bought lots of extra supplies to take on holiday with us next week and hidden them away so we can't eat them before we go!!

Dd had horse riding which was £15 - in theory budgeted for.

Noticed dds sandals are falling apart so will look to replace them maybe tomos, they have done well though lasted a year! Will look to get the same again from Mountain Warehouse as they seem to have a permanent sale on!!

We are slobbing in front of the telly the rest of the afternoon, its been quite a busy week Wink

Unescorted · 01/08/2015 16:27

Depends on the size of the carton & how often you open the coolbox. A 5l water bottle will stay frozen for about 4 days, but 1 pt of milk only a day. Each time you open the box it lets warm air in so things warm up more quickly. Also like a fridge or freezer the more full it is the colder it stays.
