Happy Birthday Collie :-)

Girlie If you grow cut and grow again salad leaves in a pot, you get salad leaves within 2 weeks, you can also try cherry tomatoes "Tumbling Tom" in a hanging basket or a pot and peppers.
I have my cucumbers in the greenhouse but you can get varieties which you can put outside in a pot but they need some support.
I have managed to grow basil from seeds this year. I have at least 20 tomato plants this year so fingers crossed if we have a good harvest I can roast them, freeze them and then I won't have to buy any passata or tinned ones for the rest of the year.
I am lucky we have a big garden so we try to grow lot of different things, I had to harvest potatoes yesterday since all the plants had blight on them, probably from all the rain we had.

ipsos have you looked at ceramic pans? I bought a ceramic frying pan and it is wearing really well, it is fairly heavy though.

I have been freezing loads of veg because I won't eat it before my holiday. I still have spring onions to harvest from the garden - does anyone know if I can freeze them?

I have real mix of different cooking pots, some Le Creuset, some German ones my DH got years ago which are great, couple pots I got from Tesco when you got some coupons with shopping, a Pyrex one too and even a cheap one with steamer from Asda. I have Tefal frying pans and they seem to last, but I only use wooden or silicon utensils with them.

I guess it depends how many pots you want/need to buy and also what type of hob you have. In our previous house we had an induction hob and it ruined couple of my frying pans.

Lovetoknit · 19/07/2015 12:33

You can freeze spring onions but since they contain lot of water they could be bit mushy when you defrost them but still should be allright for cooking. You could chopped them up, freeze them and then use them for cooking straight from the freezer.

Thank you to whoever suggested the Google Opinion rewards app on the last thread btw. Have managed to get £1.50 over the last week. Not sure it'll keep going at that level, but at least I'll be able to treat myself to a book or paid app occasionally.

Typically 3-4 questions but have had between 1 and 5. I'm getting about a survey a day at the moment. It's paying much better than whatever survey site I joined before ever did. It even pays if you answer no o not applicable to the questions.

Today's win is that I've finally sorted online banking out. I. I might open another acount and start coin sweeping.

Tomorrow I need to tryand figure out how to pay the phone bill.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/07/2015 18:31

£4.60 refunded from tesco as I complained about the fruit Blush the bananas were packed with the tins and the strawberries and raspberries were liquidated. I hate complaining about the food shopping, I don't know why, I'm happy to complain about everything else Grin

needastrongone · 19/07/2015 18:40

I will keep up with the thread now, I promise!!

Today I have updated our finances, so I know how much we have in savings. DH splurged on a large patio set last week

We are also having a decent month for once and we will get to pay day with something in reserve.

Going to sort the school holiday weeks into splitting the various chores per week. Next week will be gutting my downstairs, sticking some stuff on FB selling sites and sorting out the DC's school uniform for September.

Anyone ever ordered anything from Abel and Cole? I have just ordered a delivery, but seems expensive. I am thinking to top up at Aldi Smile

babsmam · 19/07/2015 18:51

Hi all, have had a busy day in the end and spent £20 with not much to show for it Blush

Went to a 'fun' day this morning which was spectacularly rubbish even dd asked what was meant to be fun about it Grin still managed to spend £5 on raffles and hook a duck Hmm

Went to the arcades as had some time to kill wasted spent about another £6 there, another £2.50ish in MacDonalds and then about another £7 at the park this afternoon on ice creams, drinks and going on the bouncy castle.

this can not be a typical day in the holidays or I will be bankrupt by the end of the 6 weeks!!

Need to get more organised about taking food and drink out with us, tbf normally I am quite good at this but was disorganised today! Plus plan a few days out that I know will be nsd or lsd.
