£10 cold stuff, cat food, & soya milk in sainsbos plus marked down veg.

£15 petrol

£55 work stuff.

CremeEggThief · 09/02/2015 18:38

£2.52, on a stamp, sellotape and parcel tape.

northender · 09/02/2015 18:43

No spends today. Dh and I were both off work and going to go out but dd was off school with an ear infection so we've had a lazy day while dh has cleared a load of stuff out of the garage and taken it to the tip.
It has been a good frugal food day. I made a huge batch of bolognese then added spices and beans to turn some into chilli. Nachos for tea using up out of date tortilla chips left from Christmas.. Had some tinned fruit in the fridge so have made an upside down pudding too.

What would have been a spend day has turned NSD as plans for tonight cancelled. Also I've made £34 on fb selling since yesterday :)

Unfortunately life is going to throw a spanner in tomorrow and Wednesday...we are a one car family and it usually works really well but occasionally it doesn't. The next two days are like that and will need bus-fare and some food on the run.

NK5BM3 · 09/02/2015 19:03

Hi nugget - we loved big hero six!!! We (dh and kids) already did the fist bump... So the kids were really excited that hiro was doing it too!! :)

£6 on colleagues leaving and another's baby. Argh, too much going on.

Went to see the dr again. The throat was hurting like mad, and I got a prescription for me in case it got bad again. It's still hurting but it's not like sandpaper. I might tolerate it and see if it goes away with lemsip.

574ejones · 09/02/2015 19:07

Thanks for the washing machine recommendations. We went for a mid price John Lewis one that Which highly recommend and is A+++. Even better, DH paid for it Wink. NSD today.

MissA - I thought chilblains might be likely.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/02/2015 19:13

I've had chilblains and they're horrendously itchy.

clippityclop · 09/02/2015 19:21

Nsd here. Lamb curry for dinner from yesterday's roast and enough left for tomorrow too, with wedges. The pilaf recipe looks great Spotty, will try that next week with leftover chicken. Pasta bake, fish pie, toad in the hole are our meals for the rest of the week. Need only buy more fruit and bread.Opal, last time we had folks to stay I made a five egg white pavlova for dinner on the Saturday and used the yolks for a custard tart for the following day. (Or could do boozy bread and butter pud with brioche).

AdoraBell · 09/02/2015 19:31

£24 on souvenirs for DDs and a small gift to take back for a friend.

DDs have access to their pocket money, at last, and have spent ££££££s today.

Pointlessfan · 09/02/2015 19:34

Survived the first day back at work! Had hoped for NSD but we ran out of bananas which constitutes an emergency in our house. Found a bunch reduced to 45p in Sainsburys (no idea why, they are still fairly green) so got those but also saw hot x buns in the bargain basket reduced to 69p for 6. Didn't need them but I cannot resist them!

NK5BM3 · 09/02/2015 20:16

MissA - how did the dr app go? Glad you decided to take the new house. How exciting!! :)

I think I will take up the headhunters offer and at least put my hat in. At the very least I have wasted time re writing my cv. At the very most I go for an external interview - my first in 12 years. And if we do even get a look in then I'll start negotiating. Small steps...

Passthecake30 · 09/02/2015 20:19

NSDSmile

spotty coriander(yuk) tastes nothing like spinach (yum)

Had cold pork from yesterday's roast, mash n pickles (left from xmas). Nice and frugal.

Sent cv off for another job today. Got to be in it to win it! When I do get a job....I need a whole new work wardrobe as I have got rid of what I don't like/doesn't fit well. It's left me with a very empty wardrobe!

SpottyTeacakes · 09/02/2015 20:28

Shock Pass. How can anyone not like coriander?! It's my favourite herb. I'm not sure we can be internet friends anymore. FYI dh didn't even notice WinkGrin

needastrongone · 09/02/2015 20:33

I don't like coriander either and I love all other herbs and spices.

Just coffee at Aldi today.

Good news re the house MissA, how did the appointment go?

Good luck NK re the job.

Still need to menu plan!! And the DC ate all the chilli, no such thing as lasting 2 days here Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 09/02/2015 20:37

[faints]

clippityclop · 09/02/2015 20:56

Coriander tastes like soap to me, Marmite of the herb world! Just blown nsd as dd needs new tracksuit bottoms for school. On plus side got tracksuit in Next clearance for £12.

fuzzpig · 09/02/2015 21:24

Fab, thanks spotty :)

fuzzpig · 09/02/2015 21:29

Oops didn't see all the last page. The thanks was for the pilaf recipe :o

27 pages already! Crazy. Love this thread :)

9/2
£29.60 leisurely pub lunch (paid for friend too in lieu of birthday gift)
£1.50 bus fare
£3.50 DH lunch while at training course.

But, erm, basil is better than coriander. (I may be biased because of the epic pesto I made earlier - 5 more portions in the freezer :o)

needastrongone · 09/02/2015 21:31

ADORE Basil Smile

RobinEllacott · 09/02/2015 21:47

NSD! Though it'll take a lot of NSDs to make up for the weekend.

Will have to pay for lunch for the next three days: I'm running round London seeing lots of different people and can't carry a wilting bag of packed lunch with me from meeting to meeting.

I LOVE coriander. But I also love basil. Not so enthused by spinach.

northender · 09/02/2015 22:22

Forgot to say, my other frugal win today was discovering a ridiculous number of chewy rice cakes at the back of the cupboard and instead of throwing them out, they've all been in the oven and are properly crisped up again now.

needastrongone · 09/02/2015 22:23

Love spinach too!

Ok, had a quick scoot on the MN recipe section and there's a lovely one with cauli, broccoli, bacon and cheese, so that's tomorrow, although I might substitute the bacon for chorizo and use the bacon for a Jack Monroe recipe Wednesday.

Thursday fish tagine, Friday not sure, eating out Saturday at a birthday party, Sunday roast chicken dinner.

Have so many vegetables to use I am struggling!!

opalsandsilver · 09/02/2015 23:34

Clipityclop, yes, have made custard before and saved egg whites for meringues. Nice to get two uses from things.

Spent around forty five pounds today.Bought meatballs, mince, cheese, baked beans and other sundries.Five pounds voucher for Tesco used, and was given coupon at till for three pounds fifty odd off next shop. We are eating plainly but well. Chicken, mash and peas tonight. Dp happy, not asking for seconds of anything as he knows I plan in portions, but does ask for pudding! Set a jelly today, and going to bake tomorrow. Would like to take cake into work and also put a scone or slice of something into DP's lunch for him to have with his sandwiches.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/02/2015 05:46

I love basil too.

Should be nsd I'm off to work in a minute.

lilacclery · 10/02/2015 05:57

I've finally caught up on thread, I've been away from it since Sat am so had loads to catch up on. My weekend was extremely lsd's because I didn't have any to spend. Picnic in car Sat, did aldi shop in order to pick up a few bits for tea at my mother's including our own shopping it came to €34 and I only forgot a few bits so dh picked them up yesterday about €12 I'd say so our total food bill was €87/€140 also bought dognuts €40 & henfeed €10 but this was budgeted. Only unplanned spends were €7 on chips, burger sauce, 1 battered sausage and a can of diet coke on my 3 hour car journey in fog on Sunday with two sleeping children & no car radio!! Yesterday was a nsd and today will be just our meal out. It's our Christmas present with my brother in law and his fiance.

missa any official diagnosis of your hand? New place sounds lovely.

I need to get up for work so gotta dash Grin
