£6 on swimming for me and Ds2, so LSD for me. My Christmas cake is in the oven, smells so good!

Badvoc123 · 28/10/2014 17:28

Alice..."just one thing"???

:)
I do begrudge spending money on stuff like flannels and bath mats though. They are soooo boring and necessary.
Gah.

Badvoc123 · 28/10/2014 17:29

Fuzz...sorry to hear that.
I was up most of last night... Combo of back pain (I have a herniated lumbar disc) and what I think are menopause hot sweats. lovely

AuditAngel · 28/10/2014 17:54

Well, if you want to talk about disastrous, 4 new tyres, £780. The good news is I get that back from work (phew).

Other than that NSD.

needastrongone · 28/10/2014 17:59

Badvoc - I need sheets and duvet covers. All white, but all the beds in the house need some tbh. Very boring spend that I keep putting off.

£60 on the dogd being clipped. £7 in the pound shop getting bits for Halloween, DD has a Pony Club rally where the pony and her both need outfits (!!), plus we are going to a party Friday night. £45 on 'Frightnight' tickets for the DC (half term activity), £15 riding lesson, £45 hair cut for me - aaargghh.

Need to buy some quiz night tickets too, feel like I have been spending since payday and I have still some spends coming up.

Hoping the rest of the month might be better...... Sad

Badvoc123 · 28/10/2014 18:01

It's awful having to buy such boring stuff isn't it?
I have been invited out for a curry night in December...am going but it's money we can't really spare.
Ah well.

Passthecake30 · 28/10/2014 18:14

£3.50 on toothpaste, sellotape, coke and crisps. My last day in the office for a week yay. Off to my mums tomorrow, she lives by the coast. won't be too frugal but will be funSmile

lilacclery · 28/10/2014 20:16

Ah passthecake thats lovely.
I need bathtowels & have done for past year, I never have money spare for them. We have towels just need fresher ones. Some day!

Just one thing!!!!

NK5BM3 · 28/10/2014 22:42

£36 for cleaner, but other than that NSD.

I needed that.

Question: I have some foreign cash from when i was away last week. Do you think I should swap the money back to sterling or should I keep it in case I go again? I've never been to this country. It may be that I will go again next year. It's not a country like Eurozone where there's a lot of opportunity to spend there... Nor is it a big country (like the us) where it's likely to be accepted elsewhere... Thoughts?

lilacclery · 29/10/2014 05:31

Keep it until you need it nk, dont exchange unless youre stuck for it x

needastrongone · 29/10/2014 07:43

NK5BM3 - is it your own cash or expenses related? How likely are you to go again?

Cleaner to pay today at £20, then we are going to 'Frightnight' later, but I bought the tickets yesterday for that.

Having a rare coffee in bed Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 29/10/2014 07:46

I'm going to a friends for coffee this morning and meeting the person who's bought ds' walker so +£20. Later I have a hospital appt so £1.60 parking and I want to go into sainsburys (as I'll be child free for once!) and get dc socks, knickers and pjs in their 25% off which is the last of their Christmas stuff apart from chocolate coins and two things I have in my amazon wish list for ds. Phew!

Badvoc123 · 29/10/2014 07:53

Need porridge for ds2 and croissants for ds1 (he went to Paris in July and has become all continental :))
Am going to take some stuff back to next that I ordered but now dont need.

northender · 29/10/2014 08:03

Haven't read back fully as the thread moves so fast. We're away with friends this week. 18 of us in a house, no meals out, we do a big tesco order and visit the local butcher for a bulk buy then I cook for everyone! Generally keeping spending low but have had a few treats when we've been out. Off to a forestry commission place today where I think we're going to walk rather than hire bikes or do GoApe which would both cost £££.
Dh gets paid tomorrow and that should see the end of our overdraft at last Smile. Just the credit card to go then which should be paid off in a year, all being well.
My PIL spend quite a bit on us for Christmas and I'm quite tempted this year to ask for new towels and bedding if she'll buy what we chooseWink. It would be nice to have treat things for us but we need the towels and bedding so it would save that spending from our budget. And it will be a treat as I suspect we'd just carry on with our threadbare stuff for even longer!

trainersandaches · 29/10/2014 08:25

Northender I've just got some ex-hotel linen for £23 from an eBay seller recommended on here - the quality is superb and I feel really luxurious.

DH pulled a walloping great hole in our bottom sheet with his foot so it was definitely due! But I would also recommend them, I think they are Express_Supplies.

NSD yesterday for me except £20 on my Oyster card. I need my hair doing really badly - it's £100 a time Hmm

FantaSea · 29/10/2014 09:50

I need new sheets and towels too, some of my towels are shocking I must have had them for over 20 years and they are like cardboard. I never have any spare money for them either.

I am doing quite well on the Tesco Orchard as they have invited me to review the new store and have sent me a load of vouchers for clothing, home, fruit, meat and the pizzeria. I have bought a new kettle which was free as it was a 'Basics' one and my voucher was for £5 so I was pleased with that. I have also bought DD a new jumper which I got £5 off too. I have a load of vouchers which are 'handpicked for a friend', am I right in thinking that there is no way of checking if I use them for myself?

Hoping for a LSD today as things have been rather spendy lately.

ItalianWiking84 · 29/10/2014 10:25

I often wish towels and bedding for Christmas and birthday... I love getting new...
So spent 13£ for swimming with DD and dp today Smile

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 29/10/2014 12:53

Saving lots today as I've had a real flare up of abdominal pain and have had to cancel trip to London to see an old friend Sad

Waiting for call back from GP now and have made a provisional appointment to see consultant on Friday (his next available clinic) if pain doesn't subside by then. Hoping desperately this is just healing/constipation/ bowel weirdness post surgery and not that the original problem has returned Sad

MissA poor you, you must be completely exhausted from all of this Thanks

girliefriend · 29/10/2014 13:03

Oh no MissA that is rubbish Sad

£46 in Morrisons but have now got a well stocked fridge, freezer and cupboard! Won't need anymore food for a while...

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 29/10/2014 14:04

MissA - hope it is something minor and easily remedied.

I've put in a large shop at Waitrose but used vouchers to pay for some of it, so not too bad. I did pick up some of the small frozen roasts at Iceland this last week - they were 4 for £10, so I got 3 turkey and a gammon. They're all tucked away in the freezer for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. It's just me and the 2 dcs, so no point having a huge turkey when a small turkey will feed us all. And it cooks from frozen, so no stresses about when to take it out to thaw. Win-win.

needastrongone · 29/10/2014 14:13

Hope you are ok MIssA and it's just everything settling down.

Wish I had lots of food for £46, I seem to spend loads on food Sad

FantaSea · 29/10/2014 15:03

MissA I am sorry to hear this and hope it is something that can be sorted out easily, you must be exhausted by all of this Flowers

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/10/2014 16:58

Lets hope it's something simple MissA

Fanta I use tokens for a friend in tesco, just don't use your clubcard & they can't tell.

Trainers I found that eBay seller I wasn't overly impressed with mine but it will do. It's my own fault for not checking with her if it was 100% cotton & these are 30% polyester. I'm really glad you like yours though.

I always ask for something for the house off pil but apparently it's not a proper present Sad.

£4.06 on lunch & stuff for work.

£4 on cider but I'm claiming that back on the checkout smart app so it will be free.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/10/2014 17:47

£1.60 parking
£17.07 sainsburys on knickers and socks for dc, face wipes and a crunchie Blush
