Impressive that we've filled a thread already Smile

Ds needs new winter shoes so will be spendy today. I've just sold his wooden walker for £20 though and have his jojo snowsuit on eBay so hopefully will make most of it back.

fuzzpig · 27/10/2014 07:15

Damn, I should've put the school dinner order through last night as now the first week back is 'locked'. On the bright side it means I've only had to pay for 3 meals this side of Xmas instead of 4.

Just realised I need to dig out our family railcard.

Also DH has decided he'd like to save up his 'pocket money' to get a decent GPS thing - any recommendations on where to find such things at a decent price? :)

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 27/10/2014 08:49

Today will be a big spend day. I'm buying paint for the dcs' rooms, wallpaper for mine, and possibly wallpaper for the hallway. Plus painting equipment. And hopefully will be finally ordering the new bed for ds2.

Ouch. But.. at least it's all out of the way in one day, right? Grin

Oh, and money on the gas and electric meter.

Sixforgold · 27/10/2014 10:42

On a more positive note than last night....I just saved £120 on my car insurance renewal! Despite being a good frugaler in many respects I am rubbish at shopping around for renewals. Today I went onto quidco to look for quotes and then rang my insurance company who beat the cash back price. I thought this kind of saving was just a myth!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2014 11:08

Ouch.

£50 new shoes for ds.
£13 in the entertainer (one Xmas present for ds and a broom for dd)
£1.79 in boots, took some tanning stuff back and got shampoo, conditioner and vitamins plus used my nhs discount card.
£11 in tesco but out of grocery budget having friends round for a 'picnic' Thursday
£1.20 for poppy lady

AdoraBell · 27/10/2014 11:30

Girlie we had threadworms recently, t'is surely grim. Something I saw online was that using a small amount of Vaseline/sudocreme on your bottom before going to bed helps. Stops them laying their eggs, which is what causes the pain and itching. If you can persuade DD to let you do that, or if she can do it really does work. Obvs finger nails need to scrubbed well afterwards.

Hope the medicine works fast.

fuzzpig · 27/10/2014 11:44

Oh yay! Just opened envelope I assumed was marketing, but turned out to be a tastecard! It seems to be a new perk of our current account (natwest advantage gold). Mum's been saying for ages I should get one, but now we have one each :)

girliefriend · 27/10/2014 12:05

Adora already on the case with sudocrem Wink have more or less caught up on washing and no more complaints of itching so fingers crossed have seen the last on them!!

It annoys me they haven't invented some sort of worming treatment to stop us getting them in the first place (like the cats have!) The info leaflet with the tablets said that 40% of kids have them at anyone time Shock ewwww

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2014 12:08

I'm dreading worms! Have escaped so far sounds horrible for the little ones though

Passthecake30 · 27/10/2014 12:22

spotty how can you be sure you've missed them....my dd gets them often and makes a right fuss. I can't believe that ds doesn't catch them from her and he says nothing...

Going swimming with kids soon, £4ish and that's it. Smile

Have 3 loads of washing out, glorious drying weather, 18c, sunny and windy. Love not having stinky damp laundry festering in the house.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2014 12:24

Surely they wouldn't go without treatment? Plus we would all get them and ds is in nappies so we would probably notice?

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/10/2014 12:35

£10 petrol.

Well done six

AdoraBell · 27/10/2014 13:41

Well done on that reduction Six

Glad your mortgage has been approved Italian

Another forum I used to use, there was a member from Europe who said her DM was shocked that UK parents don't routinely deworm their DCs. No idea what they used though.

I will need to buy mince and chicken today, plus nuts and veg from the greengrocer. I refused to do a full shop yesterday with DH and DD1 in tow, last week they managed to bump the bill up by almost 80% Angry

Also need a cheap spray bottle. Plants have tiny white flies and I've been told washing up liquid works but all my bottles have had other chemicals and as it's vetagbles that I'm prepping for the garden I don't want traces of cleaning chemicals on them.

We have hot water for the first time two weeksHmm don't know how much the bill was.

ItalianWiking84 · 27/10/2014 14:39

Nsd today... Yesterday spent 10£ lunch in Ikea and 10 £ on high chair for DD

ItalianWiking84 · 27/10/2014 14:56

Adora... I know here most kids gets like worm cure once they start kindergarten once a year..

Mojito100 · 27/10/2014 14:59

NSD today at last. I don't know what went wrong last week but I spent every day which wasn't good. Aiming for my 4 NsD's this week.

Passthecake30 · 27/10/2014 15:02

I think dd has had worms from a very young age as looking back she did use to show symptoms that we didn't pick up until she found her voice.

Been swimming cost me £1.20 as ds found £3 in the sofaGrin

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2014 15:30

I've just been told, by the pub our wedding meal is in, that they don't have high chairs Angry I'm really annoyed the meal, not including drinks, is costing £1500 and is next months. They've only just told me this.

Sixforgold · 27/10/2014 16:22

Nooo! spotty what a nuisance :( off the top of my head.... Can you borrow a number of Ikea high chairs? I know if at least 2 play centres near me that don't open on a Saturday. Or (and I know this is not very frugal) buy the Ikea highchairs and then sell them on? You'd make a loss but I'm sure it wouldn't be too much, they seem to get snapped up on my local facebay. Hope it all gets sorted with as little stress as possible xx

NK5BM3 · 27/10/2014 16:25

Another spendy day. Lunch out with ds £13 at wagamamas. No drinks just plain water and two noodles. Frankly I could have done a better job. Only reason why we didn't go to the local place was because they didn't open at Monday lunch time!! Grr. Even ds wanted to go there.

£20 on trainers for ds - probably his first pair. Bless him.

£44 at Asian shop, bought 10kg of rice, a whole load of noodles and some dumplings.

£4 at sainsburys as I redeemed some nectar points, got pumpkins, garlic, onion, cleaning products.

Tomorrow back at work. Ds will be at football club. £60 for 3 days.....

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2014 16:31

I probably could, I only need two, but I don't see why I should Grin

Sixforgold · 27/10/2014 17:09

Too right! Must be a fancy place if they don't have high chairs - think I've become accustomed to a huge stack of crumb covered ikeas in the corner Wink.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/10/2014 17:22

Could the parents with lo bring their own high chairs & you give them a bottle of prosecco etc for their trouble?.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2014 17:27

It's me who needs a high chair Grin and one friend who's happy to have her dd on her lap. For a second I panicked about what we would do, I think it'll be ok though.

It is quite posh, they don't even have a children's menu and Sundays are booked two months in advance Shock

574ejones · 27/10/2014 17:27

£21 On some tops for me and £12 in Paperchase. DH & I have completely gutted the wardrobes - 4 bags to the charity shop, 1 for textile recycling and another pile that I am going to attempt to sell on eBay. I love de cluttering!
