Who fancies a No Spend Day thread (like MSE forum's) ?

I prefer MN to MSE but would like to do some NSDs in January. Anyone else interested in doing a support thread ? this is the idea

I have a shocking spending habit and i really, really need to curb it. So I am going to have a goal of 10 NSDs in January and aim to manage 3 in a row. That would be a massive achievement for me.

No spend day 4/10

Dh filled my car with fuel as he will use it twice this week - he also did a wee shop whilst he was out

snozzlemaid · 06/01/2013 15:09

no spending again for me, think i might try for more next month at this rate.
4/10

silverfrog · 06/01/2013 16:18

Failed today (was always going to anyway as online food shop comes on Sundays) - bought some things on iTunes this morning, and have just ordered some photo prints of the dc from Christmas to send in their thank you cards.

Oh well, maybe tomorrow. Still at 2/10.

wornoutbutstillwonderful · 06/01/2013 17:01

Yay 2/10 for me been good I could have popped out for a treat today but I didn't, going to town though tomorrow for a planned spend I need new pillows and have reserved some silentnight ones that are on offer in Argos.

androbbob · 06/01/2013 18:24

NSD 3/10 today. Only got milk which was out of my milk pot from earlier in the week. Apart from swimming lessons this morning we have not been out! Swim lessons are paid for monthly and I had a swim too but was free as I am a member of the leisure centre.

Rest of day spend packing up christmas decs and tidying up. Last day off tomorrow before kids back to school so will probably spend:-) Still planning 3 NSD for Tues, Wed and Thurs.

lorisparkle · 06/01/2013 18:43

another nsd today so 4/15. I've got a waitrose voucher so may use that to buy milk tomorrow so it can be a nsd too.

Bullets · 06/01/2013 18:59

I'm going to count today as an NSD. Forgot my online shop was coming tonight (plus ordered and put card details in yesterday so I don't feel like I've spent any money today) and we deliberately ate at home rather than go out for lunch, so for me this is 2/15 Grin

FleeBee · 06/01/2013 19:16

Providing I go to bed now I've made it phew! The grand total of 2/10

flossy101 · 06/01/2013 19:19

No spend day here!

Feel very pleased to have managed a NSD at the weekend as its normally worst time.

3/10

hurricanewyn · 06/01/2013 19:22

NSD here, so 3/10 here. Will need to pop to the shops in the morning for lunch bits & Tuesday will be payday so I'll be doing the big shop then & buying DD's birthday present. Thursday is her actual birthday so we'll be eating out but the rest of the weeks should be spend free!

TeWiSavesTheDay · 06/01/2013 19:23

3/10!

AViewfromtheFridge · 06/01/2013 19:35

polkadotcircus, there are a couple of TV Magazines which are 45p, one might be called (imaginatively) TV Guide. It come out on a Tuesday as well so you don't need to spend at the weekend. The trickles aren't as good as the ones in the weekend papers, but it doe the job!

3/15 for me now. Getting almost as much satisfaction from not spending as I normally get from shopping!

AViewfromtheFridge · 06/01/2013 19:35

Trickles? Articles!

OnTheBottomWithAStringOfTinsel · 06/01/2013 19:40

4/10 done so far! Need a new tyre though so tomorrow won't be one. Rest of week in house studying so should manage a couple more...

Booyhoo · 06/01/2013 20:31

spent nothing today so 5/20

lorisparkle food audits aren't sad they really do save you money. you will amaze yourself at what meals you can acrually make when you think you have nothing in.

BuffyFairyTopsTheTree · 06/01/2013 21:08

My first NSD Grin 1/10!

It was kind of cheating as I've been working from home so haven't left the house all day to be tempted.

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 06/01/2013 21:11

3/10 down today- feeling good about this!

ComradeJing · 06/01/2013 21:29

Still on 1/15. Had to buy bread yesterday as I forgot that having teenage SDC visit means going through a loaf of bread every day.

ComradeJing · 07/01/2013 11:57

2/15 now :)

ConfusedPixie · 07/01/2013 15:57

I spent money today, had to pay my Ofsted off as it runs out tomorrow Blush I am getting a payment back from my boss though as I've done three grocery shops for her, two of which I forgot about, so that's money I diodn't think I had back! Grin Still on 3/10 NSDs then!

wools · 07/01/2013 16:46

3/10 for me. I did a food shop today and also ordered a new vacuum cleaner. I'm hopeful for tomorrow though!

Booyhoo · 07/01/2013 17:04

no NSD for me today Sad

had to go to asda and get bread, milk, cheese and apples.

still 5/20.

silverfrog · 07/01/2013 17:04

3/10 for me. Managed a nsd today, but won't tomorrow as have 4 (!) birthday club-ins to give to. So will make a list of bits and pieces I need to get tomorrow as well and try to stick to it.

lorisparkle · 07/01/2013 17:07

5/15 today as decided we could hold off on milk as we gave some uht if things go pear shaped in the morning. tomorrow will be a spending day as online shop will arrive. I did half a shop though so can do another one later in the week when we are low on milk again.

nkf · 07/01/2013 18:34

Day 2 yesterday but will have to spend tomorrow. I'm not counting regular bills or the fact I paid my tax bill yesterday. Is that the rule? It's to curb the frittering or the pop to the shops for milk, come back with two bags situations?
