How is covid presenting now?

Hi all,

Just wondering how covid is presenting now? Is there any respiratory symptoms / breathlessness with this strain?

I’ve got it now. Started with the most awful aching joints and backache. They hurt so much I could have cried. I felt very hot and faint too. I didn’t have any cold symptoms then but had a bad earache. Went home from work and just had to lie down. I felt almost seasick standing up, and my legs felt like jelly.

That night I was shaking with the cold, teeth chattering, even though the heating was high and I felt hot around my head. My back, neck and shoulders felt stiff and tight and it was difficult to get comfortable.

On Day 2 my sinuses started feeling weird on one side, like someone was drilling into my cheek, and there was a very distinct buzzing feeling in that one area. The whole of the side of my face felt painful and it hurt when I leant forward. I also had a sore throat. Still the same high temperature mixed with shivers and shaking, but the aching joints and muscles were much improved.

Day 3 pretty much the same as Day 2 but I felt well enough to stand up later in the day, although my legs were still like jelly.

Those were the worst days. Still got it now (Day 7) but last night an upset stomach joined the party 🙄 Not D&V upset, just clearly trying to jettison the virus by any route possible.

I tested on Day 5 because someone gave me some tests. I’d just assumed it was a horrible fluey virus, although the focus of it did make me wonder. By focus I mean I felt I could almost feel the virus digging in. That’s what I felt when I had it the first time near the beginning of the pandemic. With that strain, I felt it attack the muscles in my legs. I know that sounds daft, but this time I didn’t even know it was Covid and I noticed the focus of it in my sinus.

I’m sure there are lots of people at this moment with Covid who don’t realise.

I got a positive test the other day after nearly a week of symptoms. My sister said she's hears the tests aren't as reliable at picking it up at first.

I feel awful. Coughing till I'm sick, diahorrea, fever, dizzy, really bad headache, so knackered and achy. Can't get comfy, and my chest really hurts. Really bunged up nose and sneezing at first, but that seems to have gone now and been replaced by more muscle pain and exhaustion.

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 03/03/2024 17:55

Weds 21 Feb - woke up with blocked nose and tickly cough. By late evening felt ropey. DH had tested positive a week earlier and unwell. I tested at 10pm to see a very immediate, very dark result like. Couldn’t sleep.
Thur 22 Feb - rang boss and took AL as I hadn’t slept. Felt knackered and under the weather, nothing major. Overnight chest got tight and temp went up to 102.
Fri 23 Feb - Fri 1 Mar - ongoing temperatures, pulse ox between 93-95, cough got going properly and really sore throat kicked in. Muck coughed up turned to dark green, prescribed antibiotics for unilateral chest inf. Slept more than awake throughout. Poor appetite, smell/taste gone.
Sat/Sun - diarrhoea, nausea, extreme fatigue, sore throat receding, cough almost gone. Tearful.

DDs have had it too, it’s been fucking horrendous. I have a sick note to cover another 2 weeks off but worrying about work backing up, and due to go in for surgery on 15th and off another 2 weeks!

I have it now (while on holiday, yay!). The first symptom was a low fever which quickly ramped to to a high fever with chills. I also initially had a feeling that my limbs were heavy and general fatigue.

The other symptoms are sore throat, runny / stuffy nose, cough and a sore throat.

The weirdest thing is that day before I got any symptoms I felt really quite depressed and teary. I also had the most horrific nightmare the night before I started getting sick. No idea if it’s connected or a coincidence.

This is the 3rd time I've had covid and must be the worst I've ever felt.

Started with shivers and sweats. Then sharp pains in my head, bones, joints and kidneys.
Nausea and stomach cramps.

Heavy chest, coughing and sneezing.
Feeling unable to get out of bed, very fatigued and cold to the bone, then night sweats.

Crying and anxiety, wanting to quit my job because I'm no good at it! (This is not like me at all, I hardly ever cry)

And to top it off, my period started much more heavily unexpectedly mid cycle.

So interesting that other are reporting being teary as well.

I was actually convinced the town I was in was making me depressed and I paid a decent amount of money to move to a new location. Feel like an idiot now but the testiness was overwhelming.

Feel fine mentally now (apart from the usual frustration of being sick on holiday).

pinkchampagne1 · 06/03/2024 08:12

I have it now for the first time. Thought I was maybe immune as escaped it both times DH had it, but seems not.

My first symptom was a scratchy throat which developed into a very sore throat (as in it feels like I have swallowed a razor) and body aches.
Took a test that evening and got a very clear positive.
By day 2 my nose started streaming constantly and I would occasionally cough some gunk from my chest which really hurt my throat.
No sleep last night due to nose streaming, sore throat and weird chest discomfort which feels a bit like indigestion.
Am now on day 3 and still feeling very rough. 😕

pinkchampagne1 · 07/03/2024 10:03

Day 4: still having the random indigestion type chest pains. Throat seems less painful today but nose still streaming and I have coughed up some horrible thick gunk from my chest

Spongeb0b · 09/03/2024 17:42

So weird that people have been teary - me too and I wasn't the first two times I got it (that I remember). Really sore throat and swollen tonsils. Headache and utterly exhausted.

ShalommJackie · 10/03/2024 03:42

Diarrhoea
Incredibly sore throat
Nausea
Eye pain
Fever
Can't taste or smell anything
Fatigue
Opportunistic secondary infections like oral thrush and the flu.

Safe to say I feel absolutely miserable

BooseysMom · 11/03/2024 07:15

I have just one test left and don't know if I will bother with it as I have a full blown cold but no sore throat, although I am coughing and feel shivery and achey. I can still smell taste and stuff. DS has had something on and off for weeks and has been off school a few days every term over winter. It's definitely his virus that I have.
Hope everyone feels better soon 💐

IDontHateRainbows · 13/03/2024 10:32

Sore throat
Constantly sneezing and nose has turned into a tap, wetting through tissues every five minutes
Headache
appetite is weird, one minute ravenous but then can't eat a thing
Had a scratchy sensation in my throat at first but interestingly it hasn't turned int a cough
Drowsy, tired feeling
Generally feel like shit!

IDontHateRainbows · 13/03/2024 10:32

Oh and my most reliable covid symptom -can't smell or taste barely anything. I opened a bottle of lemon kitchen cleaner earlier to see if I could catch a whiff, and nothing

Infinity234 · 13/03/2024 19:31

I’m wondering my DS age 7 has/had it. He started with a cold and a sore throat about 10 days ago, then a couple of days later temperature. Temps lasted 6 days, his eyelids look all heavy and puffy, he’s teary and keeps complaining of headaches but no temperature any more. I haven’t tested because I don’t have any, plus he’s traumatised from being tested regularly age 3-5 😣

Basilthebad · 13/03/2024 19:59

Taste altered. OH got pneumonia with it. His smell was weird he thought I had burnt something in oven. I hadn't. And didn't show up on tests. we tested as DS had it. His showed up on tests but he's not been vaccinated for years as is 22, ours didn't. we also work with vulnerable elderly so didn't want to spread it. It is altering all the time. OH covid showed up on hospital swab not on lateral flow.

I had that first two times

Tomorrowtomorrow77 · 18/03/2024 07:05

I am on day 8 of symptoms. I haven’t tested but I know it’s covid because I’ve lost my taste and it feels like it did before with a few extras thrown in (I’ve also been around people who have tested positive)

Terrible back, hip, hand and foot aches initially.
Nauseous and diarrhoea.
Constant forehead pain and nose pain.
No appetite whatsoever.
Sore throat, loss of voice and painful cough.
Earache.
Very emotional.
Exhausted just walking up stairs.
Sneezing and runny nose.

Each day a different symptom. I’ve woken up today feeling so much better suddenly.

buddy79 · 23/03/2024 13:39

This is interesting to see the emotional stuff - I have covid at the moment, on day 4, got off fairly lightly so far (runny nose, bit shivery and tired but nothing major) but this morning weirdly my eyes are really sore and I’ve just spent twenty minutes crying for no reason.

mibbelucieachwell · 07/04/2024 13:33

Bumping for a close relative who's on day 9 of something that seems like covid.

Close relative (CR) felt much better on day 7 but relapsed on day 8 and is still coughing, has an on and off temperature, constant low energy and wakes up with a headache. Has anyone else had covid that has lasted for a while then got completely better?

I realise it's far too early to be worrying about post viral fatigue symptom/chronic fatigue/ME but it's on the back of my mind.

Best wishes to PP's for a swift recovery.

baroqueandblue · 07/04/2024 17:19

Anybody know if covid is currently big on the headache/stomach upset/aches and fatigue symptoms? I've had an upset stomach a lot in the last 4 or 5 weeks, which has outlasted cough/cold symptoms and I'm now getting daily headaches and flu-like achy tiredness, sleeping for hours in the afternoon and not feeling up to going out 😕

butterpuffed · 09/04/2024 08:27

My friend caught it while on a break in Scotland , spent almost a week in bed, very unlike her , saying it was like bad flu . Her son and family , 4 of them , all got it too , she hadn't seen them , they live near Leicester , so it must be fairly widespread , but I don't know anyone here in Kent who's had it recently .
