I just tested positive.

Had to cancel meeting with a friend tonight and dscs no longer coming for their planned weekend which is a shame.

I tested positive today after feeling rough yesterday. All the bones in my body are sore, sore throat, temperature (freezing one moment, roasting the next), headache no sense of smell or taste.

Paracetamol, tea and Netflix are getting me through.

SpringPen · 09/12/2023 17:00

Just as an update, I had a terrible cough yesterday, so much so that coughing today is hurting my rib and abdominal muscles from so much coughing yesterday. I also had a temperature of 38.7 which took a while to come down, even after paracetamol. Today, barely any cough and feel full of cold - a bad cold but not the worst I've ever had. Minor sore throat, intermittently very bunged up but definitely way more human than yesterday. 🤞

Tinkerbellflowers · 09/12/2023 17:46

Finally negative on day 11. Wishing you all get well soon.

ShazzaVoteToryScumOut · 09/12/2023 17:51

I have had 6 covid vaccinations ( including my boosters) and have had covid at least 7 times now. I suffer long covid meaning many days I can't leave the house and struggle to get upstairs without getting out of breath. I am 32 with no prior health issues and each vaccination, my covid has been getting worse. Can you imagine how bad my covid would have been if I was unvaccinated like the daily fail anti vaxxers? I probably wouldn't be alive today, yet the right are too brainless to see the vaccine has saved lives. My former best friend ( note former) is unjabbed and when she gets covid as she hasn't had it yet, I suspect she will regret her decision. Ignore the tin foil hat wearers and get your winter booster

ShazzaVoteToryScumOut · 09/12/2023 17:54

I have caught covid for probably the 8th time ( possibly 9th) and am self isolating although wondering if it safe to walk my dog as there is a field at the back of my house which is empty. I won't because unlike the anti vaxxers, I have common sense so will remain in self isolation until the quarantine ( 7 day) period expires which I have done each time I have had covid.

Me.

It's my first time as I far as I know and I feel awful.
Did anyone get a lump in their chest feeling? Like there is food stuck? It's there all the time and making me feel sick.

I've got that in my throat, but I can't feel it all the time, just occasionally when I swallow.

Just editing to add that it's my first time having Covid too!

Wakemeuuuup · 09/12/2023 19:00

I've got it for the 3rd time, tested on Wednesday. I wasn't able to have a jab this year and this is definitely the worst I've felt.

Started with a sore throat and feeling cold, I don't tend to get fevers.

My head now feels like Im in a bowl of custard. Sinuses sore, eyes sore with my upper chest being very tight. A little bit of coughing and sneezing but not much.

I lost my sense of taste for Easter last year, I'm dreading not being able to test at Christmas

Oddly I’ve felt worse today than previous few days, despite fact I’ve had 2 negative tests over 48 hrs. 🙄

I self isolated but it’s easier for me to do so as no kids to worry about, dog walker to hand and only work very part time and from home, so not massively affected by having to stay home, not that I could work on a couple of days as sitting up at computer was too painful.

NC543210 · 09/12/2023 21:11

@HarrumphryBogart I'm relieved it isn't just me. It feels like I have a burp/food trapped.
I'd imagine like indigestion but I've never had that before so unsure.
Makes me feel sick.
Was starting to think it wasn't covid related but maybe it is as it was the first thing I noticed.
All the other symptoms started after. Fever, cough and headache.

It was worst yesterday morning. I had a horrible pain/lump in my chest that made me feel sick, Lemsip seemed to make it worse. I wasn't sure if it was heartburn/indigestion or even if the pain was coming from my lungs, as my cough started yesterday, or even my heart! I felt more comfortable standing.

I did then have a few bouts of diarrhoea (which I hadn't had since the first day, day 5 today) and that seemed to clear it. Lemsip continued to make me feel sick though so I switched to paracetamol tablets.

stargirl1701 · 10/12/2023 09:40

I've been ill since Thursday. I though it was a cold. Tested this morning and it's positive.

Heronatemygoldfish · 10/12/2023 17:12

First timer here. Felt rubbish on Thursday with sore throat, figured I'd caught it from teen who had headaches and cough last weekend but we didn't test... Tested Thurs night because I needed to go out Friday and positive. Friday I didn't feel too bad so figured I was lucky (obv didn't go out!). Then yesterday... bam! Severe migraine, aches, vomiting even water. Not much of a temperature (37.5C) or cough. The headache just switched off this morning and I could eat but no taste or smell.
Taking it very easy.... wfh tomorrow if I can, nice easy commute.

Best wishes to all of you in same boat.

Ps fully vaxxed inc latest booster 6wk ago.

Feralgremlin · 10/12/2023 17:17

I have it and am baffled by people saying it’s just like the common cold, I haven’t felt this unwell since I had flu about 7 years ago! It’s absolutely awful! With a cold I can usually carry on as normal with some paracetamol and a pack of tissues in my pocket, this has completely floored me and the rest of my family.

Thankfully I’m getting anti viral treatment tomorrow to stop it from worsening as I’m high risk, but feel awful for the rest of my household who also have it, are all really suffering and just have to stick it out.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 03/12/2023 21:18

Me! Test line went dark within a minute so high viral load…

Oh crap, mine just went dark even before the test line did - does that mean I've been spreading it around to everyone over the past few days? I had mild cold like symptoms for a couple of days and did a test (as we have loads left over from when they were free) yesterday which was negative. But have taken a real nose dive today - I feel death warmed up tbh, so though I would do another test and it it SO positive :(

SkyFullofStars1975 · 10/12/2023 21:32

My sinuses are horrendous tonight, thick green mucus now, constant headache and feeling dizzy/sick. Ears exploding every time I swallow. Grim. As for the cough, words fail me. I'm going to have to order some tena pants from Amazon to boot.

novhange · 11/12/2023 03:03

Just tested positive. Hope everyone feels better soon.

I have had the Covid jab and 2 boosters but that was ages ago and I haven’t been offered anymore boosters.

I wonder if having the Covid jabs has helped with symptoms, as I’ve had Covid 3 times and each time the symptoms seem to get less severe. The first time I had Covid was excruciating whilst this time it just feels like a cold.

Ladymarycrawley1920 · 11/12/2023 04:14

DH and I both had it a couple of weeks ago. Second time for both of us, although we had it separately last time! We only tested because DH mentioned he had itchy eyes, which I’m sure is a symptom I read about on here. Was surprised when we were positive, because I only felt a bit tired and DH the same but with itchy eyes. No idea where it came from and we’ve been very lucky because neither of us have been really poorly with it either time and I’m classed as vulnerable. Both negative after 5 days so maybe just a mild strain?

ClaireEclair · 11/12/2023 10:22

I am on day 2 of covid. Haven’t been vaccinated since last year and I don’t intend to get vaccinated again. I don’t feel too bad at all. It’s like a cold atm. I’m lucky as I WFH most of the time anyway and don’t have to go into my office so not taking any sick days. Will just ride it out. I have a cough, sneezing and feel a bit cold. Haven’t needed any medication. My husband caught it before me and he’s worse than me but feeling better today. I have had it three times in all and the second time (after being vaccinated) was the worse time for me. I went over a year without catching it until now.

Rosesandstars · 12/12/2023 01:09

Me, I came down with it last Sunday night (3rd Dec) and have had it badly. 40 degree temps, shivers, arm and jaw pain, low oxygen sats, cough, very sore throat etc. I've been taking paracetamol, ibuprofen and inhalers but feel so rough!

Rosesandstars · 12/12/2023 01:10

Oh and slight conjunctivitis and anosmia, although the latter actually seems to be improving after just over a week.

LorlieS · 12/12/2023 02:35

No idea - didn't know people were still testing? Are people's employers OK with them taking time off following a positive test?
