@ProfessionalCornflake my work are back to normal procedure for sickness. That means I’ll need a fit note and to work out what I can and can’t do. I can wfh. I’m going to try tomorrow afternoon which will be day 6. My brain is mostly fine but I have no stamina physically walking. Tough to know what to do.

dearanon · 25/09/2023 19:39

I am so unwell with it. I've been in bed with it since Friday.

It is shit.

My teeth hurt and everything.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/09/2023 19:39

I've had a much better day compared to yesterday,I even sat in the garden for a good while. Starving hungry but everything tastes bad still which is just depressing. Only need a quick shut eye no proper sleep so I'm heading for an early bed tonight.

Symptoms - fuzzy head like a really bad head cold, bit chesty and breathless which is odd this late in the game .

Day 6 I feel much better today, still a bit of cough and blocked nose, taste and smell still not right but Covid test much lighter

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 26/09/2023 11:18

Today I have a headache and slightly burning lungs and am still tired. Other symptoms have receded, though.

I just did a covid test and the line is bright red and appeared immediately. So I must still be carrying a lot of virus. Supposed to be seeing vulnerable family members this weekend :(

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/09/2023 12:44

I have had 2 negative tests now, I went from burning red lines to negative the next day, I thought it was a fluke but another test confirmed it too. I thought it would fade away gradually.

I have full on heavy cold symptoms still, bit wheezy which is a new thing , taste and smell still absent. Very pleased I don't have work as there's no way I'd cope even WFH. Headache is going and I slept really well last night for the first time in a week. I'm on day 8 today.

Personally I'd give that a miss, there's no way I'd see my folks at the moment even with negative tests.

What way are you counting the days?

I'm not sure how I would count mine - I tested positive yesterday but had blocked nose and tiredness and swollen throat on Sunday. I had a deep cough a lot of last week too so no idea when to start my day count.

I started with symptoms Thursday, got positive test Friday. Personally I'm counting day 1 from Thursday but that's just me

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 26/09/2023 13:56

That is interesting re the sudden negative test @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor. I was amazed by how quickly the thick red line appeared today, as I am definitely feeling better than before, but perhaps I am shedding lots of virus (yuck). Yes, I think this weekend is unlikely to happen- couldn’t bear to pass this on.

Am managing a little work at home today but am very slow…

My best wishes to all fellow sufferers! Hope we bounce back quickly.

Poormepoorme · 26/09/2023 13:57

Im day 8 (or 9 from symptoms) and nearly better I would say. No symptoms - even the headache is gone - apart from fatigue in the afternoons/evenings. I can WFH but hit a wall after lunch.

Covidwoes · 26/09/2023 14:22

I tested positive 12 days ago, and am still getting bad headaches on and off. Covid is the gift that keeps on giving. Confused

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 26/09/2023 16:05

I have an underlying health condition and covid this autumn lasted 5 days. I think it varies by person and by vaccination status.

Laurap39 · 26/09/2023 19:06

I’m starving too craving carbs and sugar and out the things I’m not meant to have as I’m pre diabetic!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/09/2023 20:01

I'm super wheezy and chesty today and especially this evening, honestly it's like every day brings a new symptom!! I'm in bed and won't be long before I go to sleep, I'm really done in.

@ProfessionalCornflake I think workplaces mostly treat it like any other kind of illness. If you are well enough to work then work but not if not stay at home. I think if you can WFH then that is a sensible option to avoid spreading it around. I know people that work in customer facing jobs such as retail and hospitality that have been told they need to be at work even if testing positive and they feel bad that they might be infecting others but what can you do if that is the policy 🤷‍♀️

Notverywellatm · 26/09/2023 20:31

I had the immediate redline at the start and line was fairly strong today after nearly a week
I have stayed up all day and more or less worked from home hours I should but out put is so so so slow. Still finding my hearing is not good and dry eyes.

Flopsythebunny · 26/09/2023 20:40

PurpleMonkeys · 21/09/2023 21:30

I had COVID in 2021.
Worst I have ever felt. I came very close to calling an amber lamps to take me to the dock and chuck me in the bastard sea.

I couldn't breath deeper than a pant. Couldn't get up out of bed. Couldn't barely roll over.

Buuuuuuutttttt the weird and funny but, before the 'oh fuck shoot me now' bit. The loss of smell. Totally totally bizarre. I was spraying perfume and sniffing it, I sprayed some blokes Lynx spray right in my face and couldn't smell it. I even, god help me..., stuck my nose in the cats litter box after she'd done a massive shit and I couldn't smell a thing. Bizarre and totally bonkers and weird.. it was very entertaining..

I've had no sense of smell and taste for over 2 years now.
Nothing to do with covid though. I have bacterial pansinusitis and am waiting for surgery. I've had so many antibiotics that none of them work anymore. The only thing making life actually bareable is the high dose steroids that seem to be stopping it getting any worse and eating through the bone into my brain and eye sockets

Laurap39 · 26/09/2023 21:46

Yes my sons workplace mc Donald’s don’t mind he is positive as long as he is well enough to be there!!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/09/2023 08:02

I had a terrible night with ear pain and I feel like I've still got a full on head cold. Day 9.

How's everyone this morning?

I’m on day 6 and feel better than yesterday, hopefully the hideous stomach aches are dying down.

Absolutely no sense of taste or smell yet hungry, bizarre.

I think the fever has passed and I am left with a head that feels like it will explode, snot and painful ribs and chest. I can live with that, it’s fevers I’m a complete baby with.

SmallBlueDinosaur · 27/09/2023 08:46

Woke up with a horrible headache but seems to be subsiding. Still testing lightly on the tests. Really hoping I'm over the worst now, I'd like to leave the house!!

Notverywellatm · 27/09/2023 09:38

Still positive on the test and coming to terms with how the next few days plans are now completely messed up (although to be honest I'm not sure I would have been well enough anyway). Still woozy head. Less coughing so far. I think my taste and smell only went for a day or so. Slept better last night having not rested during the day

Laurap39 · 27/09/2023 12:01

I’m starving too but can’t smell or taste weirds isn’t it!!

Laurap39 · 27/09/2023 12:02

I’m on day 7 no taste or smell since Friday, temp and aches gone just head cold really bad cough now
