Anyone unvaccinated had it more than once?

Won't constitute a peer reviewed study I know but still interesting anecdotally. Would also help to know how likely you were to test so let's use a scale of 0 to 10, 0 never, 10 twice a day, 5 when had symptoms. I'll kick off. Never had Covid, 0 until early 2022 (only sick once but couldn't risk a 2 week quarantine, judge away, didn't do anything except distanced school runs as I felt pretty grim) and 5 from end of mandatory quarantine.

Everyone I know who was unvaccinated only had it once.

Do I live in a parallel universe, I've never heard anyone mention COVID for about 18 months

Do people actually still care about this type of unscientific bollocks

henlee · 08/07/2023 10:44

Why make a thread instead of looking at one of the many open access studies looking at infection risk in vaccinated versus unvaccinated people? @AreYouVeryAnti

All threads like this do is become a hub for confirmation bias & conspiracy theories (I see 5G has already mentioned, as has "all my vaccinated friends are dead/dying, everyone unvaccinated had a sniffle"

If you could get could good data and results by simply make a thread on MN it would make epidemiology redundant Grin Loads of things to consider including sample, measure, adjusting for things (i.e., on average, someone who is vaccinated probably more likely to test than someone unvaccinated)

@Newusernameaug

Im part of the freedom movement so most of my social circle is unvaccinated and I can 100% confirm that every single one of them will say that sadly their Vax loved ones are developing more and more unusual symptoms, illnesses, heart and cancer issues….. this weeks news about long vax issues is just the tip of the iceberg I feel, and worry as my loved ones are also suffering.

Sadly, I can confirm that this post is nothing but nonsense. Myself and my vaxed loved ones are very much healthy and alive, as I said yesterday. No zombies here!

Ontopofthesunset · 08/07/2023 12:03

The confirmation bias is so strong amongst the unvaccinated, though I guess it may be amongst the vaccinated too.

I mean, almost everyone I know has been vaccinated, many of them multiple times. My 88 year old mum has had 6 vaccinations and never had Covid, nor any notable illnesses in the last 4 years. My 84 year old stepdad has had 6 vaccinations and had Covid once very mildly. My 21 year old son has had 3 vaccinations and never had Covid. No one I know has had any severe post vaccination side effects at all. The most severe I know is one friend in her 80s who got a skin rash after her 5th jab.

DH and I both had Covid just when lockdown happened in March 2020, so pre vaccines - I was mildly unwell for a few days and he was very unwell for almost a month. We have both had 4 jabs and he's never had Covid again, I've had it once more very mildly. I have had one cold in the last 4 years and one slight stomach upset. He has had a couple of heavy colds and one episode of D&V.

None of these anecdotes are statistically significant.

I can say that our friends, family and colleagues are not dropping like flies with cancer, heart problems and immune problems. Everyone is fine. People have always developed cancer and had heart attacks, however. So of course these things are still happening.

VisionsOfSplendour · 08/07/2023 12:30

Wow @Newusernameaug your social circle is so freakishly statistically ynusual that you should volunteer them for further research

Billions of doses of the vaccine have been administered worldwide yet every person you know who's had one has developed some issues, that really is some bad luck

Hecate01 · 08/07/2023 12:38

You'll never get an unbiased opinion from people on these threads. The unvaccinated will say they've never had it and slam the vaccine and the vaccinated will say they have never had it since getting vaccinated and slam the unvaccinated as conspiracy theorists.

sunglassesonthetable · 08/07/2023 13:19

I'm fully vaccinated and haven't had it, as far as I know. Have not tested that frequently only in response to when it was required for certain work situations.

There are always posters on here who defy science and logic and who have an incredibly unfortunate social/family circle that is dropping around them. Usually 'due' to the Covid Vaccine.

The people I know who are suffering are the ones affected by the death of a loved from Covid or have Long Covid. And only a few tbh.
The vaccine ? Everyone bar two I know had it and no one even mentions it anymore.

Is that a scientific gauge of anything? 😄

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 08/07/2023 13:22

Unvaccinated, never had it. I’ve only had one cold since lockdown, and that was obviously a cold, no fever, no aches and pains, no funny taste or loss of taste.

obviously I have never tested, because I wasn’t sick.

Emmamoo89 · 08/07/2023 13:23

My partners not vaccinated and never had it.

😃this is exactly the sort of unscientific nonsense I was referring to earlier

Seriously, what value does that comment even have, everyone knows that unless a person tested every single days for the past 3;plus years with a test that was infallible it's ridiculous to say they:ve never had COVID. They can't possibly know

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 08/07/2023 14:50

All the unvaccinated people I know have had it, or have had Covid like symptoms and refused to test. I think everyone I know has had it at least once.

The unvaccinated people didn’t have worse symptoms than the vaccinated ones.

I don’t know anyone with a vaccine related injury, my anti vax friend knows loads. I know people with long Covid and people who lost close relatives to Covid, she doesn’t…It is confirmation bias, it’s normal and human!

TakeMyStrongHand · 08/07/2023 15:00

DP and I are both unvaccinated. No anti vax here, just not comfortable and each for different reasons. Mine because I know 3 people who had very significant side effects but I believe people should make the best decision for them and would encourage the vulnerable to have it (and may have myself if I was around vulnerable people)

Neither of us caught it until a year ago. He had it once and neither me or DD caught it from him. I caught it a few months later and nobody in the house caught it from me. I then had it recently and again, nobody caught it.

While tests were free we tested 1-2 times a week. Now only if we have symptoms. I still won't go out if I have it, despite guidelines.

Both times I worked throughout as did DP but the last batch for me was quite bad in that it was more like a flu with aches and shakes.

808Kate1 · 08/07/2023 15:03

@Newusernameaug Full of shit mate.

But people can confidently say they've never had covid if they've never had symptoms.
Covid is the disease that the virus Sars Cov 2 causes in some people when exposed to the virus. Others are exposed and do not develop disease therefore they haven't had covid 🤷‍♀️. They may well have tested positive for Sars Cov 2 antibodies had they been continually testing but they still haven't had Coronavirus disease aka covid.

RubberRuck · 08/07/2023 17:24

I did not have any of the covid injections.

I have had covid 3 times.
Once before we went into the first lockdown, March 20, my DH brought it home from his skiing trip in the Alps. We don't know for sure as there were no tests available then but we had all the symptoms, including losing taste and smell and they hadn't released this as a key symptom at that point.
Second was in March 22, third was July 22.

I tested regularly when we were all required to. I then tested when I felt the symptoms again.

It wasn't that bad, the first time was probably the worst.

I do not regret not taking the injections.

Countrygirl38 · 08/07/2023 17:26

I am unvaccinated and was exposed to covid a good number of times as I work in health and social care. I have never had it and tested very regularly including lft tests before every shift. I know a good number of unvaccinated people and a few have had it once but many have not had it at all.

Well he's never been poorly and tested when I've had it and was negative 😃

Teentaxidriver · 08/07/2023 17:29

Unvaccinated. Never had it and I work in a school.

Greenfree · 08/07/2023 17:32

I'm not vaccinated and had it once over Easter 2022. I still test every 2 weeks for work.

Juliasmama · 08/07/2023 17:32

And the existance of asymptomatic COVID has somehow passed you by?

LauraNorda · 08/07/2023 17:39

Unvaccinated. Never had it. Never tested. Never wore masks.

How without testing do you know you've never had it?

Divebar2021 · 08/07/2023 17:59

No one I know has ever admitted to being unvaccinated.

How without testing do you know you've never had it?

Constantly testing for illnesses when you don't feel unwell used to be a diagnosable mental condition pre 2020.

The last time I was significantly impacted by a respiratory illness was 2010. Didn't test then, either. Just stayed at home until I recovered.
