Anecdotal, but a large percentage of my (vaccinated) acquaintances are reporting positives. Some are getting Covid for first time. Anyone else hearing same? These are not catching it from each other. Do you think immunity is waning?

I dont understand why they're not offering boosters for those 6 months from the last one. Had mine in November and I've been covid free to date, getting worried my luck will run out...

A lot of people have to test for work

Yep, required in certain roles. Those are the only ones I know who are still doing it.

NoAprilFool · 10/06/2022 13:10

I’ve got it just now, along with DH and DD. First time for all of us

PurpleSandal · 10/06/2022 13:34

I tested positive on Wednesday. I've heard of loads of positive cases this week. Most of the people I know who are covid positive caught it over the weekend after attending jubilee events or family gatherings.

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 10/06/2022 15:28

Just seen in the paper, some COVID watcher mathematics man said the next wave is here; caveat; it's no sign of disease severity

bigbluebus · 10/06/2022 17:00

DH tested positive on Thursday morning. He actually tested himself twice on Wednesday - once in the morning before work and once in the evening because we were meeting up with an ECV friend and we'd done a fair bit of socialising over the BH weekend. Thankfully we only met outdoors so hopefully friend will be OK.
I'm still testing negative though - only doing it because I know I've been a close contact and we've got tests.

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 10/06/2022 18:31

'Some people are determined not to move on though. Must give them something to do!'

OK. I'll bite. In what does testing equate to not moving on (Boris)?

InThePurpleHaze · 10/06/2022 23:05

Cases are rising again. Don't think it's a huge problem though. It will happen from time to time. If there's going to be another wave, this in summer is the best time for it

megletthesecond · 11/06/2022 11:00

dedo I expect they've already pencilled in autumn boosters but the government won't announce it until they need to distract people from another scandal.

New variant is more virulent and potentially more deadly, not good news.

chimichangaz · 12/06/2022 17:39

I tested positive last Monday - Uber driver on Friday night had been coughing away on my ride home. And of course I hadn't taken a mask out with me.

Triple jabbed, booster last November and never tested positive previously. Have been up and down with it; like a pp said it was the sore throat that made me test, and feeling slightly 'off'. Have had cold symptoms all week, now feel bunged up and tired. Have just come to bed for an hour as feeling rough. Was thinking I'd be back at work tomorrow but doesn't look like it.

Tested again on Thursday as I was supposed to be going out the next day (clinging onto hope!) and had a very strong thick line within 30 seconds. Tested again this morning and still a faint line although stronger than my test last Monday.

I know of two other people in the last couple of weeks that have caught it for the first time.

Floralorial · 13/06/2022 11:39

Yes, SE here also and a definite spike where I am - lots of people I know seem to have come down with it within the last 2 weeks, including those who've avoided it previously.

In September 2021, Pagel was one of two recipients (alongside Devi Sridhar) of a special recognition award from The BMJJ^, and in October 2021 she won a HealthWatch UK award, both for her work in public engagement in science during the COVID-19 pandemic.[58][59][60] She also became a Turing Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute in 2021 by special appointment.[61] In November 2021, she was awarded the prestigious "Companion of OR" prize by the UK Operational Research Society.[62]
She was appointed as Vice President of the UK Operational Research Society for a two-year period from January 2022 to December 2024.[2]

I know who they are - I mean the one in the thread who implies that lockdown will be needed and more and the system overrun.

TellMeAboutItStud · 13/06/2022 14:18

I just had it (along with the rest of my family) a couple of weeks ago - we were all first timers and all triple-jabbed.

GirlCrushxxx · 13/06/2022 14:20

I'd assume immunity would wane over time!

But we are now living with covid so I doubt very much we will have anymore lockdowns! Maybe a half hearted booster campaign towards autumn/winter time

Interestingly, Indy Sage seem so far to have managed to restrain themselves from the L word. Devi had a pretty reasonable sounding article in the Guardian today about the new variant too, advocating for a booster roll out across the whole population (not sure if that also includes under 5s).

I don't trust them, but the way she's presenting the case here is interesting.

1fluffydoodle · 13/06/2022 14:29

1st time positive here too ... I'm sure it's much easier to get this variant.
I've previously not picked it up despite living in a home where everyone else was positive. It's spread really quickly within our family this time, fortunately we all had very mild symptoms. But I tested positive for 9 days.

How many people in here did not test positive for covid prior to vaccination and have tested positive with strong covid symptoms post-multiple vaccinations?

I counted 20 so far.

None of your questions seem finished and they don't make much sense.
