Anecdotal, but a large percentage of my (vaccinated) acquaintances are reporting positives. Some are getting Covid for first time. Anyone else hearing same? These are not catching it from each other. Do you think immunity is waning?

I have heard of more last week than ever getting Covid . Also the people I heard off are getting more like delta symptoms now cough fever and aching body rather than omicron symptoms. Anyone else seeing same ?

underneaththeash · 06/06/2022 10:59

I know a lot of people who have tested positive in the last week - SE commuter village, me included. I had heavy cold symptoms the first couple of days and then bad fatigue, aches for a couple of days and now have a bad headache and fatigue!
Not fun.....

I have long predicted vax boosters for the over 60s (as a minimum) this winter. Hoping they will be able to offer a combined flu/Covid vax by then.

wordleaddict · 06/06/2022 14:11

Another one in my group down.

I read that they have covid wave in Portugal now caused by ba5 omicron variant.

Northernsoullover · 06/06/2022 14:19

I've recently had covid and had been vaccinated. I brushed it off which I put down to the vaccine. On that basis I'd quite like a booster but I'm too young.

Apart from living in the West Country, you’ve just described DH and me. Both tested positive today, first time covid sufferers 🙁

tobee · 06/06/2022 17:46

Not surprising and has been the case for months now (first timers etc)

umpkj · 06/06/2022 17:47

I got into moderna omicron study and got fourth either old moderna or omicron specific one. I haven't had knowingly covid yet.

frangipani13 · 06/06/2022 19:22

I tested positive last Wednesday for the first time. Thankfully feel like I’m on the other side now but it’s been utterly horrendous and I’ve had three jabs. The antibodies must have worn off as my last jab was in Nov.

Samarie123 · 07/06/2022 12:40

I know people who have it at the moment. I find it very strange there are so many sick people in the summer, never remember seeing that before.

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 07/06/2022 19:59

Think there's an uptick in cases again. Hospitalisations up c. 25% compared to last week. twitter.com/john_actuary/status/1534191409074475012?s=21&t=jyiFVBuThKND4-u9drdX9g

LemonDrizzles · 07/06/2022 20:58

I just caught covid for the first time. Of all the people I heard caught covid recently, we all are first timers. Only one is a second timer

Fedupsotired · 07/06/2022 21:01

I don't know anyone who is testing anymore 🤷🏼‍♀️

LemonDrizzles · 07/06/2022 21:58

Oh yes and everyone triple jabbed

Me either!

Some people are determined not to move on though. Must give them something to do!

bigbluebus · 08/06/2022 10:14

DH is still testing due to his job. He had a cold and cough last week but has continued to test negative even though he is still coughing now. Thankfully I have remained symptom free so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that cases are still low around here as I did quite a bit of socialising over the BH weekend and am due to go on holiday on Saturday.

TulipsGarden · 08/06/2022 10:19

Almost everyone I know with children (including me!) had Covid in March/April, and I don't currently know anyone with it - Essex and work in London. Maybe the next wave is on its way. Joy!

Deadivy · 08/06/2022 12:33

First timer here too, booster was December. Yesterday was the first day, raging sore throat which made me test, today a little better, but have started to get lower back pain.

Livedandlearned · 08/06/2022 14:47

A lot of people have to test for work

Tbh I don't think the vaccine makes much difference to the symptoms for people without underlying health conditions.

I know a good mix of vaccinated and un-vacinated people who had covid I wouldn't say either side had it any worse than the other with symptoms.
Both groups felt a bit crap, usual symptoms, recovered within a week.

Justkeeppedaling · 09/06/2022 23:38

I haven't had it yet, neither has DH nor most of our friends says a lot about our social life 🙁

ApplesinmyPocket · 09/06/2022 23:45

My daughter, a nurse, has it for the first time - definite positives for three days in a row after a rather faint one the two previous days.

She's felt really awful with it, really quite ill, but not needed medical attention. Still, she says 'avoid at all costs' if we can as it was worse than she was expecting.

There are many patients in the ward she works in who have it so I'm not surprised she caught it after two lucky years, especially now masks (for patients) are not now required.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 10/06/2022 00:09

I had it in December after 2 vaccinations.

I'm not worried about it anymore.

I spent too long avoiding and worrying about it.

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 10/06/2022 10:37

Yes , people dropping like flies at work.
I tested + today,my last vaccine (3rd) was December.
Only annecetdoal but 4 people down at work in last 10 days now me.
