Anecdotal, but a large percentage of my (vaccinated) acquaintances are reporting positives. Some are getting Covid for first time. Anyone else hearing same? These are not catching it from each other. Do you think immunity is waning?

I know one person who's had Covid recently - a couple of months ago it seemed like everyone I knew had it!

None of your questions seem finished and they don't make much sense.

What exactly are you asking?

Christina Paget seems fairly measured in her response to this (see the articles).

There is on that thread tweets but someone who set up their profile in April and states that lockdown will be needed and is all doomladen.

It is in the replies though that make it sound worse - it looked a bit like he was trolling.

I was not questionning the original tweet or Christina Paget - but they seem more measured

x2boys · 13/06/2022 16:04

They have always said you can still get COVID despite vaccinations ,just that people are far less likely to get seriously ill.

JanglyBeads · 13/06/2022 17:30

Hospitalisations rising very fast ....

Two of my team at work are currently off with it and I know of two others unrelated to them. City in the East of Scotland here.

Tim -not IME. DP and I triple jabbed & neither ever had it touch wood, despite most people at work dropping like flies over the winter (we both tested twice weekly for work). Most unvaccinated friends caught it. As others have said, the vaccinations just make you less likely to get really ill -though I wonder if being vaccinated just prior to the peaks helped us fight it off..

Another lovely attempt of anti-science. Professor Shridar is a doctor, a Rhodes Scholar, and an expert on population health. That makes her more than qualified.

Summerwhereareyou · 14/06/2022 07:28

I've been in. job where I am exposed nkre than many others throughout.
I'm tripple jabbed and never had it until now when my third job is probably worn out.
They last about 6 months.

Always go to the source of the information and forget commentary. That way you can analyse actual information and not get distracted analysing opinions.

Obligatory "it's anecdotal" but my parents are unjabbed too, and me, and my ECV friend, and we are all hanging around together and also not been sick.
Anecdotal of course. Only anecdotal, just mounting anecdotal evidence, nothing to see here.

ApplesandBunions · 14/06/2022 08:37

For me, the most interesting part about Devi's stance now is that she's evidently realised she, as a person who has called for many more restrictions than we got, is best served by spelling out her understanding that this approach is well and truly over.

Indy Sage didn't help themselves, credibility wise, with their stance against England's summer 2021 reopening and in particular with the calls for 'circuit breakers' to deal with Omicron. The Overton window has very much moved away from restrictions, and the Indy Sage members who've been speaking about the new strain seem to get that they need to acknowledge this if they want to retain their media platforms.

And how does that correlate with all the unvaccinated people who caught it - and died or were seriously unwell - before vaccinations were available?

We can tell what kind of bollocks you've been reading online...

libbytrois · 18/06/2022 12:03

First time positive here, only conscious after child was snotty and we tested. Seems like no one else at school was testing with symptoms. Lots of coughing, sneezing etc going on. Mistaken for hayfever too?

Snozzlemaid · 18/06/2022 14:17

3 of us here first time with covid.
Dp been unwell for the week and tested before we were due to attend a big family event. He was positive so didn't go but the rest of us were fine.

Two days later ds and me had symptoms so tested and have it as well

Dd had it previously in February and so far has avoided getting it again from us.
So far for me it's just like an annoying head cold. Have everything crossed doesn't get any worse.

Trying81 · 21/06/2022 10:47

Caught for first time here - fully jabbed and booster was in December 21

Tested as had symptoms, and am pregnant - was due to go on holiday today, obviously we aren’t now.

Dedododo · 10/06/2022 11:26

I dont understand why they're not offering boosters for those 6 months from the last one. Had mine in November and I've been covid free to date, getting worried my luck will run out...

Because they are hoping that they can get away with just one annual booster (for the free flu shot group, not sure if contemplating whole population). Best done in autumn, to reduce covid severity during the peak winter virus system. It's all about keeping people out of hospital

6monthly for the immune-suppressed (3rd primary group, who have had 5 shots by now) and the over 75s (four shots)

Some evidence emerging that vaccine immunity wanes after about 4 months (that's reduces, not vanishes) but as long as it holds up enough to keep people out of hospital, that won't affect the planning much.

worriedatthistime · 21/06/2022 13:30

I got covid just a few weeks after my booster and then again about 6 weeks after first bout

Scianel · 21/06/2022 16:26

Professor Shridar is a doctor

She is not a medical doctor. She's done very well out of the pandemic, profile wise.

InThePurpleHaze · 21/06/2022 18:38

People aren't dying which is the main thing and they are getting less seriously ill.
The warm weather and it being summer will help too as people outdoors more.

JanglyBeads · 21/06/2022 18:40

About 900 people a day are being admitted to hospital now. So they're quite ill.......

How bizarre. The ONS report that "the intensive care unit (ICU) and high dependency unit (HDU) admission rate remained very low at 0.18 per 100,000 people in the week ending 12 June 2022" so I'm not sure where your 900 people a day dramatic figure has come from.

Hospital admissions and ICU and HDU admissions are very different things!

The most recent rolling 7 day figures show 5717 admitted in England - so that's 817 per day if evenly distributed.

twitter.com/COVID19actuary has it at around 800 a day as well with an average of around 750 - still down from the 2000 a day average we had in March
