Dd1 tested positive 8 days ago, dd2 positive 4 days later. OH and I zero symptoms, constant negative lft, we are both triple jabbed. I had resigned myself to definitely catching it.....But now, dare I hope we'll dodge it??

Yes I did the germy little buggers.

DH did not

FinallyHere · 10/02/2022 20:33

I just want someone to tell me that a definitely will or definitely won't get it. And also exactly when and for how long. Is that too much to ask??

Much too much variability in humans and viruses to ever give that kind of certainty.

Gary24 · 10/02/2022 20:39

Didn't catch it from ours. My 2 aged 6 and 8 tested positive a couple of weeks ago now. Free from the start of this week and Oh and I stayed negative.

UserError012345 · 10/02/2022 20:47

No. And didn't stay away from either. I was very surprised I didn't get it.

FoxRedLabbingtons · 10/02/2022 21:33

Yes. Twice. My DS10, with ADHD is a highly efficient snot distribution system. I didn’t stand a chance.

REignbow · 10/02/2022 21:41

Both a “yes” and a “no” fro me!

DH and I caught a week or so after DD1 tested positive last year (both double vaccinated at that point), but DD2 didn’t get it at all.

Earlier this year, DD2 caught it and the rest of us didn’t.

Friends of ours found that even though their youngest DC had it and were asymptotic, none of the rest of them caught it.

All I can say is that covid is an odd ball!

VioletPickles · 10/02/2022 21:58

Yep, but partner didnt. Or my older two actually!

Iloveacurry · 10/02/2022 22:03

Yes we all had it in December, the DDs tested positive first, then myself and DH two days later. 7 weeks later, DD2 tested positive again, and the rest of us were fine. 2 weeks after this, I’m now testing positive again, the rest are currently negative.

PintOfBovril · 10/02/2022 22:08

I did, but I was boosted first quite a long time ago now I guess so perhaps my immunity was starting to wane. My DH didn't catch it from either me or DS, and he usually catches everything going!

MarshaBradyo · 10/02/2022 22:10

No I didn’t, nor did dh

LateMumma · 10/02/2022 22:17

Yup. Daughter not vaxxed, but we're both max vaxxed and both caught it. I LFTd negatively throughout, only PCRd because I had a funny smell in my nose

fishnchops · 10/02/2022 22:58

DS's 2nd negative test was day 8, the same day I tested positive. Definitely caught from him.

Dontlooksup · 10/02/2022 23:05

Yes, I did. It was a very boring old time in the house as we each got it a few days apart. Ended up being stuck in the house for about 4 weeks as one or other of the DC couldn't leave the house or I couldn't for quite some time.

NarcissistsEyebrows · 10/02/2022 23:07

Nope

Neither of us caught it from DD.

Then 6 weeks later I got it from an indoor sport, and none of the rest of them caught it from me.

We're a pretty physical, huggy family and didn't do any real distancing throughout either infection. Kids are 4 and 8 so not really possible. Slept in separate room from DH but that's the only difference from normal.

Amongst others I know it's 50/50 whether it spread round the house

Ivchangedmynameforthis · 10/02/2022 23:07

I didn't the first time. DH and DC all positive. Worked in a school throughout. Most of my class off with it 2 weeks ago and thought I had dodged it BUT DD tested positive Sunday and me today. Triple jabbed and so far quite mild. Long may it continue.

WarriorN · 11/02/2022 04:06

Yes but I know others who haven't, bizarrely

NothingInterestingToDeclare · 11/02/2022 04:20

Tested positive on day 11 after both kids tested positive so a longer incubation period here. Husband now tested positive 2 weeks after me. We obviously want to draw this thing out as long as possible!

newtemp1name · 11/02/2022 04:33

I am just wondering the exact same thing.
DS got it last Saturday, DH on Monday and I am still negative. On DS's first night he had such a high temperature I put him in our bed, and DH went and slept in his bed. So I just assumed I would get it, and didn't isolate from them at all.
I am working from home this week, and although where I am if you are triple vaxxed you are not in self-isolation, I have literally only been out to take the dog for a walk.
I was kind of hoping that if I haven't got it by Sunday then I am in the clear, but after reading some of these threads now I am not so sure....

icklekid · 11/02/2022 04:37

I can’t believe I haven’t but no one ds had it twice and dd had it once. I also work in a school with an outbreak. Never had it, never distanced at home - 2nd time ds had it with vomiting for 3 days and a lot of cuddles 🤷‍♀️ I daily tested both times for 10 days then twice a week, several PCR every time because I couldn’t believe it!

liveforsummer · 11/02/2022 04:47

Nope, I didn't. Dd2 was sleeping in my bed, breathing in my face, sharing my glasses of drink. Her and Dd1 had it at the same time so double particles and it was cold so didn't do windows open or anything. We snuggled up on the sofa altogether for movie nights etc. Bizarrely I did then get it when they were at their dads over Xmas and I was gone alone barely left the house. So it's not a given you will get it from them , but then it could pop up at any other time.

TulipsGarden · 11/02/2022 05:34

Nope, neither of us did. I was in my son's room all night when he had the fever, and was dealing with his snot all day. He was only ill for 24 hours though.

I was only five weeks post-booster so I assume that did its job. I did feel slightly rough for a couple of days, but it never came to anything and I never tested positive.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/02/2022 05:38

No, despite no social distancing and giving hugs, spending a lot of time together, clearing up vomit etc. They had it 6 months apart and I didn't catch it from either of them. I didn't catch it when DH had it on a third occasion either. We have only had one person with it at each time.

Bosephine · 11/02/2022 06:10

Yes although unsurprising as DS coughed right into my mouth. I was double jabbed and it was short and mild.

DH on the other hand was negative throughout.

sarahc336 · 11/02/2022 06:13

Yea just getting over it now from dd1, in fact all 4 of us caught it, we all had it within 4 days of dd1 coming home from school xx

tinderswindler · 11/02/2022 06:25

Both my children have had it and I've not caught it. My daughter had it last year and we were all in the car for two hours together before we knew. My son (a toddler) coughed and sneezed in my face so many times I was sure I would get it but no, three weeks later I'm still negative. Maybe it's luck, maybe because I'm triple jabbed. Who knows.
