Quick poll: how many people are still wearing masks in your area?

I'll start! I'm in North Yorkshire and prior to today it has been almost 100% mask compliance. It was more 70%-ish here today following the mandate being lifted. Where do you live (city or county) and what's it like where you are?

P.S: if you think this is a boring topic, irrelevant or if you're sick of talking about masks then please feel free not to read any further.... and no, I don't have anything better to do Grin

People aren't snarky, why should they where a bloody mask on their face just to satisfy the feelings of others? People generally obliged when told too, but stuff that now. When would you like us to keep wearing masks too? 5 years, 10? Forever?

You are very aggressive, why? No need to be.

It isn't to satisfy people's feelings it's to prevent them being ill and possibly dying. People are still dying.

Did clinically vulnerable people not go out before covid?

Remarkably stupid question. They didn't stay in to avoid Covid when it didn't exist.

maddy68 · 28/01/2022 18:02

Everyone. I live in Spain. We wear th without any issue indoor public area and outdoors unless eating or drinking
Noone complains

@AndAnotherNewOne

I don’t think people are being snarky or don’t care about people who are CEV, some people are pleased that they no longer have to wear something which many find difficult to use and offers limited protection. Some people don’t have any problem and some even like them but that doesn’t apply to everyone.

2X4B523P · 28/01/2022 18:11

And perhaps if others who would prefer them to stay mandatory didn’t have to call those that didn’t selfish etc then they wouldn’t have to be defensive.

Kerzel · 28/01/2022 18:28

Almost everyone because luckily I live in Scotland where those in charge at least have a bit of common sense.

SummerBluez · 28/01/2022 18:34

Sturgeon and common sense GrinGrin
Did you enjoy your utterly needless new year restrictions??

SummerBluez · 28/01/2022 18:35

God it really needles people that they can no longer police others. Horrifying what the pandemic has done. Overinflated people's egos to the point of insanity.

Holothane · 28/01/2022 18:35

Still wear mine my h is vulnerable so we both still do.

ZittiEBuoni · 28/01/2022 18:36

Out in town this morning, far more wearing them than not in Costa and M&S. Still quite a surprising number wearing them outside in the street.

ufucoffee · 28/01/2022 18:39

I was out today, in a restaurant and a supermarket. No one had one on coming into restaurant. Hardly anyone had one on in supermarket.

2X4B523P · 28/01/2022 18:47

Just been in B and Q. Which was very quiet, maybe about 30 people total. 0 staff wearing and 2 customers.

Whammyyammy · 28/01/2022 18:59

I get angry at people that try and self police and make their own rules up about how I should live my life. The ",it doesn't harm you to wear one " or ",you're selfish" comments. If I choose to wear or not wear a mask has nothing to do with anyone but me. It's not a legal requirement.
If people aren't happy that I'm not wearing one, then tough. Either get used to people not wearing mask or lock yourself away! Simple as that

I agree
Kerzel · 28/01/2022 19:37

@SummerBluez I didn’t enjoy NY as I had COVID. But at least I was reassured that by wearing a mask I had done something to protect other people from catching it.

thedarkling · 28/01/2022 21:48

Costa today- nobody wearing one. Then went to the shopping centre and most people were still wearing them, which surprised me to be honest as the last time we didn't have to wear them they disappeared very quickly.

I don't particularly want to keep wearing one but will probably do so sporadically (and on public transport of course) I don't intend to be putting it on and off every time I enter a coffee shop though. It's nice to be able to see again as I can wear my glasses now!

Downton57 · 28/01/2022 22:41

@Whammyyammy @SummerBluez' The aggression is unnecessary. 'And suggesting clinically vulnerable people should 'Lock yourselves away' is pretty callous. It's a little piece of cloth. What's the big deal?

ancientgran · 28/01/2022 22:42

South West, looked very close to 100% when I was out today.

JaceLancs · 28/01/2022 23:06

In Manchester today I would estimate less than 20% of people were wearing masks

whysoserious123 · 28/01/2022 23:45

I love wearing a mask it goes my true facial expressions directed at people who are annoying me

SummerBluez · 29/01/2022 06:58

@Downton57
Aggression? What on earth? You've obviously lived a sheltered life Grin
And I totally agree, it's a little piece of cloth and it's no big deal. Which is why I will never again wear one Smile

Agreed
Imissmoominmama · 29/01/2022 07:06

NW market town. I’d say it was down by about 30%. I did notice that the non mask wearers were younger people. Not a judgment- just an observation.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/01/2022 07:17

Not a single person in a busy south east pub last night.

ForFe · 29/01/2022 07:42

Why would you wear a mask to a pub?
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/01/2022 07:52

For the same reasons you would wear a mask anywhere.

Last week, lots of people were still wearing them, including myself. Not any more.
