Has anyone not caught it from their household?

I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find a more recent post about it.
I am wondering if anyone DIDN'T catch Covid after having a positive person in there household that they DIDN'T isolate from?
DS 4.5 tested positive yesterday and we are at home together carrying on as normal and I'm cuddling him as I normally would and we are snuggled on the sofa watching a film.
Im cleaning extra but that's about it.
I've literally heard of people who have kept their kids in their rooms and worn masks around the house or had windows open when it's freezing cold 🤯😳
Just keen to know if it's a given that I'm going to get it considering my close proximity to him or is that not always the case?
Has anyone escaped it when they've been close to a positive case?
Thanks 😊

Me. My husband caught it, isolated in the spare room as best he could, out 5yr old caught it when my husband was on about day 6, she was with me constantly and i never caught it

Cameleongirl · 26/01/2022 14:03

DS currently has it (asymptomatic) and the rest of us have tested negative. We’re being fairly careful in terms of distancing, but he’s 13 so doesn’t mind being antisocial.😂

Cameleongirl · 26/01/2022 14:03

Same thing happened to my friend’s family a couple of weeks ago. Her DD had it, but no one else caught it.

StrawberrySquirrelThief · 26/01/2022 14:05

One of my DD’s had it before Christmas. None of us isolated from her and none of us caught it (me, DH & DD1).

NewbieDivergent · 26/01/2022 14:05

I had my 9 year old sleeping with me,cuddling constantly and didn't catch it,felt bad for isolating my 14 year old last year then.

BooksAndHooks · 26/01/2022 14:31

DD had it in October so likely Delta, DS had it a few weeks ago after going back to school so assume omicron. Both times they were the only person in our household of 5 to test positive. DH, DS2 and myself have not had it yet at all.

Snakedoctor · 26/01/2022 14:38

In the last 10 days, DD1, DD2 and DH have tested positive. Still sleeping in the same bed as DH (who is blowing his nose every 10 bloody minutes), DD2 has had lots of cuddles in front of the TV and DD1 sneezes at me every time a cotton bud goes anywhere near her nose! I'm still testing negative and not feeling poorly at all! Fingers crossed for you.

samyeagar · 26/01/2022 14:53

This is actually the majority experience. Most households or isolation bubbles end up with mixed positives and negatives. Rare that everyone in the household gets it.

Reallycantbesarsed · 26/01/2022 14:57

I had it Christmas 20s Caught it from work...everyone approximately 50 people got it. None of my family caught it from me and I wasn't self isolating! All my family had been in close contact with me prior to infection as well.

BlowDryRat · 26/01/2022 15:04

DD and I had covid in October. We didn't isolate from DH and DS but neither of them got it.

FooFighter99 · 26/01/2022 15:11

DD had it back in November, and neither me (triple jabbed), DH (double jabbed at the time) or DSD (not jabbed at all....) caught it

Not sure if we were just lucky, especially as DSD isn't jabbed (she's 21 and thinks she's immune Hmm )

FflosFfantastig · 26/01/2022 15:17

Before Omicron was circulating ( so presume Delta ), neither my little one or my partner caught Covid from me despite not isolating and sharing bed etc. However, Omicron may be a totally different story. We are yet to find out, but given that a quarter of my little ones class are positive I'm sure it won't be long till it's our turn!

TwoBlueFish · 26/01/2022 15:19

DS had it last week (10 days isolation up today). None of the rest of us have caught it and we’ve just been carrying on as normal at home,

edin16 · 26/01/2022 15:19

DP escaped it when DS and I had it. Although we're convinced he might be immune as he worked with covid patients for months with no ppe and never for it (regular pcr testing before lfts were available).

forlornlorna · 26/01/2022 15:30

We've had it twice now and strangely our late teens teenager hasn't caught it from us. In fact she's been in close contact with so many ppl and never caught it!

Teafirst · 26/01/2022 15:32

I didn't catch it from either child or DH who all had it at the same time. I'm fully vaccinated and had been boosted under a month previously though.

Wnkingawalrus · 26/01/2022 15:32

There are threads on this literally daily.

OH and I both positive pre Christmas. Neither of our small children tested positive.

DC1 has tested positive since returning to school. DC2 still never been positive.

We didn’t isolate but did try and keep windows open as much as possible, mainly to get some fresh air given we couldn’t go out. Not sure if that made a difference or not.

ChurchlightJane · 26/01/2022 15:35

Travelled six hours in a car with my adult son who tested positive next day. He masked up to use bathroom and kitchen but keotmostly to his room. We didn't get it.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/01/2022 15:37

I caught it from a relative in a pub for a couple of hours. . Ananged to not pass it on to DS, 6, DTwins 2 or DH. DS went back to school for a week and came home with covid. Day 5 and DH still clean.

PutOnAHappyFace · 26/01/2022 15:39

Everyone in my house has it now but not me, including our baby. It's a mystery how I haven't got it and to my knowledge never had it.

GypsyWanderer · 26/01/2022 15:40

Me! Family of 6, we’ve had covid in the house 4 times since October and me and DH still haven’t caught it although 2 of the kids have had it twice. It’s strange how some just don’t seem to catch it while others get reinfected. Also we didn’t isolate at all.

OwlBasket · 26/01/2022 15:46

THREE times we’ve had it in the house and three times I’ve escaped infection. Not through isolation or being extra careful with stuff. Just randomly. Weird.

Fletchersromancing · 26/01/2022 15:46

Me too. All my children have it right now and I haven't at all.

auldmaw · 26/01/2022 16:05

My husband had it. We carried on as normal. My 2.5 year old son continued to hug / kiss / play with him and neither he nor I caught it. Husband and I have had all 3 jags.

MarshaBradyo · 26/01/2022 16:09

Yes no positive test when dc had it
