Has anyone not caught it from their household?

I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find a more recent post about it.
I am wondering if anyone DIDN'T catch Covid after having a positive person in there household that they DIDN'T isolate from?
DS 4.5 tested positive yesterday and we are at home together carrying on as normal and I'm cuddling him as I normally would and we are snuggled on the sofa watching a film.
Im cleaning extra but that's about it.
I've literally heard of people who have kept their kids in their rooms and worn masks around the house or had windows open when it's freezing cold 🤯😳
Just keen to know if it's a given that I'm going to get it considering my close proximity to him or is that not always the case?
Has anyone escaped it when they've been close to a positive case?
Thanks 😊

Dh hasn't caught it from me - well so far.

Last time, October 2020, he and dd both didn't catch it. We didn't isolate within the home, dh still shared bed with me.

This time, I'm on day 6. Dh is still negative whilst I still have very very positive looking tests.

Our children didn’t get it from us inspite of carrying on as normal.

dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 13:48

I didn't catch it from dh despite sharing the bed with him and spending time in the living room with him. The 2 kids didn't catch it either although they kept away from us a lot more

tigerlilymochalatte · 26/01/2022 13:50

DS5 caught it from school then I did but DH didnt despite carrying on as usual!

2pinkginsplease · 26/01/2022 13:50

Youngest and I had it. My husband and son didn’t catch it. Husband had been sharing our bed until I tested positive, he slept on the couch for a week.

Blossomtoes · 26/01/2022 13:51

Yes. Neither of us have had it despite having been unknowingly exposed to it. Those vaccinations are pretty damn good.

tsef · 26/01/2022 13:51

I didn't catch delta last summer even though Dh and dc had it. I did lfts and pcr and all were negative. I haven't had covid so far.

Newnamefor2021 · 26/01/2022 13:51

I've four children home with it! Husband and I haven't caught it. However we are vaccinated.

Lazydaisydaydream · 26/01/2022 13:52

My 3 year old had it and no one else caught it, even though we carried on as normal with cuddles etc and all isolated together in the house so spent all our time together.

Sunsetsupernova · 26/01/2022 13:53

I had it a few weeks ago and definitely had it before I tested positive as I had a few random symptoms I’ve since realised are Omicrom. When I tested positive we slept in different beds and sat at opposite ends of the sofa with the door open in the evenings. However before that we were on a weekend away, staying in a pretty small cabin so we were in very close proximity. DP stayed negative throughout.
We were both exactly 2 weeks post booster jab.

Mylittlepixie · 26/01/2022 13:54

Both my kids had it with no symptoms. DD kissed me on the mouth 2h before she had a positive lft. DH caught it from them a few days later. I never got it (tested negative regularly while isolating).
This was almost a year ago before i was even vaccinated.

Mistymoors · 26/01/2022 13:54

Yes most of my family had it, my teenage son continually coughed over me whilst I was looking in his throat as he was diagnosed with tonsillitis and we later found out he was covid positive too . Didn’t isolate away from each other but apart from the above tried to stay away from each other . Didn’t get covid but I guess it’s only time!

ImSoMagical · 26/01/2022 13:54

I didn't catch it when DH and Dd both had it, despite sleeping in the same bed. (Dd is 7 and occasionally likes to come in with me 😁)

Redheadedbookworm · 26/01/2022 13:55

Me - kids have each had it twice. (Not sure which strain). The first time they isolated T their dads as they caught it from him and he was unwell too.

But the second time the kids were at home and quarantines with me. They’re 8 and 12 so I didn’t feel I could keep them held up in their bedrooms. But we just carried on with normal life… which includes the usual hugs, close contact while checking temps, administering calpol, doing LFTs , and being snuggled up to watch telly or with bed time stories in the evening.

I’ve not yet had Covid (or a winter cold) over the last 2 years or so so I expect I’m in for something soon.

Traumdeuter · 26/01/2022 13:56

DH was positive over Xmas. DS and I were never positive. DH slept in a separate room from me but we still shared a bathroom and just did normal levels of cleaning. DS is too young to understand physical distancing and I wasn’t going to separate him from his father when he wouldn’t understand.

I was triple jabbed, DH double jabbed.

YesIcan3 · 26/01/2022 13:56

5 in our house 3 children 2 adults, 1adult and 2 children had it. Couldn't isolate to a room as 1 parent had to go work and 1 had to look after the 2 covid kids and 1 that was covid free. Adults has had all 3 jabs children hasn't.

Thesearmsofmine · 26/01/2022 13:57

DH and the dc didn’t catch it from me when I had it and when DH had it none of us caught it from him. We didn’t isolate from each other at all.

SNUG2022 · 26/01/2022 13:57

None of us caught delta from dd, but not so sure we'll be as lucky with omicron.

scrivette · 26/01/2022 13:58

Yes, DC3 had it and no one else caught it, a few months later DC1 had it and no one else caught it.

DC3 had been sleeping in our bed, giving cuddles, sharing drinks (she is little) and so we were amazed she hadn't passed it on.

that1970shouse · 26/01/2022 14:00

I didn't catch it from DH; at least, that I know of. It was prior to LFTs being freely available and I couldn't get tested because I had no symptoms. I slept in a separate room but we watched TV together,( sat at opposite ends of the same sofa,) ate meals together, used the same bathroom. This was prior to the super-infectious variants, though, so if he caught Omicron now, I wouldn't expect to avoid it again.

PlantingGreen · 26/01/2022 14:00

My DNiece had it before Christmas and no-one else in the household got it until over a week later SIL got it (apparently both had different variant's) my BIL and DNephew never got it. I currently have it, tested positive on Sunday and rest of my household is clear at the moment

gunnersgold · 26/01/2022 14:01

We didn't , only my son had it , 3 of us didn't and he didn't stay away from us as he has sn .

MrWhippyBloon · 26/01/2022 14:02

DH isolated from the rest of the household and I still caught it from him on day 5 (delta), but then we went back to living as normal and neither of the kids caught it from us despite me cosleeping with DD every night. I think omicron is more transmissible though.

trevthecat · 26/01/2022 14:02

4 year old has been positive for a week. No one else has it!

Ivchangedmynameforthis · 26/01/2022 14:02

DH, DS and DD all had it in my house and I didnt catch it.
