Has anyone not caught it from their household?

I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find a more recent post about it.
I am wondering if anyone DIDN'T catch Covid after having a positive person in there household that they DIDN'T isolate from?
DS 4.5 tested positive yesterday and we are at home together carrying on as normal and I'm cuddling him as I normally would and we are snuggled on the sofa watching a film.
Im cleaning extra but that's about it.
I've literally heard of people who have kept their kids in their rooms and worn masks around the house or had windows open when it's freezing cold 🤯😳
Just keen to know if it's a given that I'm going to get it considering my close proximity to him or is that not always the case?
Has anyone escaped it when they've been close to a positive case?
Thanks 😊

My best mate didn't catch it recently when her DH had it. She slept in same bed and went about things as normal.

TheFluffiestCat · 26/01/2022 17:07

DH didn't. DD had it first, then I went down with it. She and I obviously stayed at home, but in the house we didn't change anything about the way we interacted. He's nearly 50, was double jabbed and due his booster, which he had as soon as he got his negative PCR, and has an autoimmune condition. It's possible that he'd had it asymptomatically before and got more immunity that way, as he has to go out to work whereas I mostly WFH, but if that's not it, it must just have been luck.

ZittiEBuoni · 26/01/2022 17:07

DH and DD2 both had it this month. DD1 and I did not.

Yes, I've wondered that as well, @TheFluffiestCat. Perhaps the rest of us have already had it asymptomatic and have plenty of antibodies right now. Who knows. [shrug]

The first time it was in our house hold DS (11 ) got it dec 2020. He has SEN and didn't isolate he stayed near me and hubby it was Christmas also. I was on edge worrying but neither me hubby or other DS got it.

Fast forward to October 2021 eldest DS got it and isolated in his room partly, kept away from us all, again no one else got it, we all tested daily xx

Bananarice · 26/01/2022 18:57

Dbro got it and he didn't pass it on to anyone. However, he is in his 20s and isolated away from the household.

My cousin (14 year old) also didn't pass it on her household. But both these examples are of covid positive people who isolated away from people.

My entire household tested positive at the sametime.

Apandemicyousay · 26/01/2022 18:59

I haven’t caught it off husband and child (day 13 from first case), and husband is still strongly LFD positive at day 12. Sharing bed etc. I have kept windows open more including at night but sharing bed, small flat, young child and no escape. Good vaccine!

PurplePinecone · 26/01/2022 19:05

I had covid early October. No one else in household caught it. Didn't isolate from them. Now my husband and both kids have caught it and I'm yet to show symptoms. Been 7 days now. I probably have antibodies since last time I had it maybe. Again not isolating from anyone in house!

user1471509171 · 26/01/2022 19:24

Myself and 4 children had Covid, husband didn't catch it despite not isolating as we assumed it was inevitable he would get it.

DwangelaForever · 26/01/2022 19:26

I had delta in July and was the only one in the house who got it.

Hubby and daughter tested positive on Sunday night (for omicron I presume) and I've just tested positive today 🙃

MumaD · 26/01/2022 19:29

I had it over Christmas, two kids and husband living with me, we carried on as normal (at home, didn't go out or socialise with anyone else) and they did not get it.

Onthedowns · 27/01/2022 04:50

My ds 6 has just had it no symptoms went back to school yesterday day 6. I am on day 4 and still feeling rough. DH has not tested positive and neither has dd9. Also had negative PCR as both had runny noses.

We have been sharing a bed and DH has been helping etc

redandwhite1 · 27/01/2022 05:28

My son (7) had it and me and my DH didn't catch it

Oligodoodle · 27/01/2022 06:01

My 4 year old is on day 5 now and the rest of us haven’t caught it. The nights he had a fever, he slept breathing in my face.

Decafhazlenutlatte · 27/01/2022 06:10

Husband had covid in early Jan. me and dd didn’t isolate from him but obviously no kissing etc. I am single vaccinated and dd unvaccinated and we both didn’t catch it.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 27/01/2022 06:11

Dd and DH caught it in August. DS and I stayed negative. However we did have a complex rota system for common areas stayed away from each other and slept apart.

MummyMe87 · 27/01/2022 06:13

I’ve had it 3 times, asymptomatic first time, u well second and super mild symptoms 3rd. My two young kids and immunocompromised OH never caught it that we e been aware. Miraculously

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/01/2022 06:13

DC1 had it a couple of weeks ago - neither their sibling, DH or I got it. DC1 was also able to come out of isolation early with 2 negative LFTs on days 5 and 6.

interferingma · 27/01/2022 06:26

DD didnt get it despite her three flatmates having it, and isolating with them a year ago.

Inthesameboatatmo · 27/01/2022 06:40

13 year old dd tested positive on Tues, a little better this morning. 9 year old ds tested positive last night still rough at mo. So just me a6md other dd not come down with it yet ,hope it stays that way but I doubt it.

Scbchl · 27/01/2022 06:50

I had it March 2020 and the kids wouldn't leave me alone and Dh slept beside me and no one else caught it.

My 9 year old had it before Xmas and no one else caught it.

My 17 year old had it and no one else caught it, she did stay in her room mostly though but leading up to testing positive had been mingling with us.

My 12 year old and my dh have never had it. Despite obviously being at school and my husband works in a job where he is working in customers houses etc.

Panicmode1 · 27/01/2022 07:00

Me. I've had a household full of Covid twice, and haven't caught it. My daughter, the same. All of the boys (DH and my 3 sons) caught it from each other, one of them has had it twice....

Looneytune253 · 27/01/2022 07:13

Yeah my kids had it a few weeks ago and me and DH didn't get it. In my community it seems to be mainly the children that are getting it and not the parents. I wonder if being jabbed is making an actual difference.

Happyface120 · 27/01/2022 07:17

DS7 had it in November, no-one else despite him sleeping in our bed a couple of nights. DD11 has it now, and so far our LFTs are negative. Again, not changing anything in the house, certainly not confining her to her room Shock
