And if you chose not to please don’t give COVID to my red zone working partner.

I’m CEV, I’m positive, I can have only caught it from him - and he works In a red zone where last week 98% of patients were not vaccinated

Sorry for the moan.

If your husband works with covid admissions to ICU vaxxed or unvaxxed it doesn't matter they are still in there with covid so can pass it to your husband who I'm assuming would be wearing full PPE who is fully vaccinated then he's passed it to you .

clarkkentsglasses · 10/01/2022 13:33

No thanks.

You can also still pass it on if your vaccinated Grin

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 10/01/2022 13:34

And before someone says less likely, that’s not correct according to data in the BMJ and Lancet and other factual data statistics

Have you mixed up viral load data with transmissability data?

Because quite a few recent studies shown a similar peak in viral loads which seems to have been picked up and run with by many.

Although studies, in the Lancet, by the CDC and many others, show a similar peak viral load, which is the highest amount of virus in the system, vaccinated people clear the virus faster, with lower levels of virus overall. This, obviously reduces the time they have very high levels of virus present which, equally obviously reduces their overall level of contagiousness. An estimated 63% less likely. See the explanations in the same studies.

@Urthie

This is round two for me … I’m hoping it’s mild
Being vaccinated has worked we for you then?
JanisMoplin · 10/01/2022 13:36

@SarahBop my dad was a doctor. I do not believe in herbalists and natural immunity , because I come from a country where natural immunity and anti vaxxers have killed millions. Actually, Covid has killed millions.

I myself have no medical degree and prefer not to "do my own research". Just as I get into planes without doing my own research on flying a plane.

ravenmum · 10/01/2022 13:37

IF, you had gone to a herbalist/nutritionist/holistic practitioner and asked for advice, they'd have been more likely to...
Surely they'd have just the same risk of being sued as the NHS doctor, so would give just the same advice?

I haven't asked anyones advice on whether or not to vaccinate my children; I made the decision myself, based on my own research
If we all had to do entirely our own original research to make every decision, the world would be very difficult to navigate! You'd need a degree in every subject :)

@lemmein
Really? You think having cancer and being terrified to be told by your oncologist that they can cure the cancer but if you catch Covid while having treatment you are more likely to die than survive is boring?
This ducking country and their attitudes to the sick and disabled is getting worse!
2 years ago we were told that we couldn't even go out to our bins to put the rubbish out, a year ago we were shielding, not leaving the house, not seeing family and friends for months on end because if we got ill the nhs was too busy to help us. We've had vital appointments, operations and treatments cancelled.
Yet, because we are frightened of catching Covid we are boring! You can Fuck right off!!!

Blubells · 10/01/2022 13:39

Op, first vaccines don't prevent transmission, second your partner chooses to work in a (in your opinion) 'risky' environment.

So I don't know what you're hoping from this thread?

buckeejit · 10/01/2022 13:39

@LittleMissnotLittleMrs

It certainly becomes my business as it is my LIFE that is being jeopardised. I am waiting for brain surgery. I have been waiting for over a year. I can’t have it if I catch covid within 7 weeks of my date. I am having to use 7 weeks sick leave BEFORE I get the surgery because icu beds are full on the unvaxed. So yes, their choices are my business
I'm sorry you're having this extra stress & hope you manage to get your surgery as scheduled Thanks
Everanewbie · 10/01/2022 13:39

Hi OP. I too would suggest people to get vaccinated and have their booster. But we want to "take people with us" rather than make demands and insults to people who make a different choice, and language like you've used will entrench positions rather than persuade.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 10/01/2022 13:40

And its not mainstream media who have frightened us, its our doctors and consultants

Iamtired123 · 10/01/2022 13:40

How's aboot naw

HumunaHey · 10/01/2022 13:40

@Chloemol

Wow lots of nasty posts on her

Why are people so nasty? There is n9need for it

Op asks a reasonable ask. She is more than aware jabs won’t stop transmission, but will reduce it

Imagine if more of the unvaccinated were in fact vaccinated and the reduction in cases that is likely to bring ( and it will reduce as not everyone will get it )

But no let’s just crack on being nasty

Do you not think the tone of the OP (particularly the title) is pretty nasty?
FrecklesMalone · 10/01/2022 13:40

@FajitaBonita

CEV and key workers are the new vegans these days. 🙄

Hope you are better soon though.

Fucking hell. You obviously don't live with someone who is CEV and comprehend how hard it has been.
JanisMoplin · 10/01/2022 13:41

Venting. Perhaps unwisely.

And having stated the obvious could you not have read what OP ended with? She is venting.

An unwise move given the current majority response is around here.

ravenmum · 10/01/2022 13:46

As usual, someone signs up to make their first post on an inflammatory topic, makes half a dozen comments then buggers off and leaves the thread like a fly trap ready to catch the standard misinformation and dangerous speculation for people to read and be influenced by, whether the OP is supposedly pro or contra.

You are purposely missing the point. If they are vaxxed they might not need be in there at all because their symptoms are not severe, less patients in icu with covid not only lowers the risk of ops DH catching it but frees up beds and staff for patients with needs other than covid.

I feel for you. I get your anger even if people on here begin shouting at you. At a minimum you should expect vaccinated HCPs when you go in for treatment.

DancyNancy · 10/01/2022 13:47

You are being very very unreasonable.

My double vacc DH got it in a pub which was vaccine cert with valid photo ID entry only (indoor pubs/restaurants in ROI is vaccinated only).
Table service only. So he was socially distanced in a room full of vaccinated people and still got it.
I got it from him at home(double vaccinated)
2 of my 3 children got it (none vaccinated).

Anyone I know who's gotten it over Christmas (many people! ) is vaccinated and got it from a vaccinated person...a lot of them boosted.

In ireland circa 50%of ICU patients are unvaccinated.....so there's still 50% vaccinated covid positive patients gonna be in there for staff to work with.

So ya...I'm sorry OP but you're being very unreasonable.

I hope you are doing OK in terms of health and symptoms though?
I understand you must be very scared right now. I felt scared when we got it cause of 2 years of media and waiting for it. I hope you recover quickly

chasingrain · 10/01/2022 13:48

@ravenmum

I would think it was a very strange day in OPs partners hospital if nearly 100% of admissions where unvaccinated as statically going of age groups admitted - this is unlikely There is no indication whatsoever that OP is in the UK.
No, your right, this isn't. If OP came back to say where she was it would be helpful so we could look at vaccination uptake, against country against hospital admissions.

I even had a quick look on OP history to see if I could spot any clues but this is OP first post so......

I thought the figures of current unvaccinated in hospital due to covid was more evenly split. May go find the stats report again.

Yup, like I said, one more "fly trap" post.
