And if you chose not to please don’t give COVID to my red zone working partner.

I’m CEV, I’m positive, I can have only caught it from him - and he works In a red zone where last week 98% of patients were not vaccinated

Sorry for the moan.

OP posts:
BeeDavis · 10/01/2022 13:20

If they were vaccinated you could still have caught it. Seriously 😳

Marmunia999 · 10/01/2022 13:21

YABVU as the double and triple vaxxers seem to be suffering the most. None of my family is vaxxed and we are fine! The hubby works in a key role and has done so throughout.

crispsarny · 10/01/2022 13:22
@SantaClawsServiette - I am vaxxed, as is my whole family, but it is because of my own independent research. I have no faith in the “authorities” at all. The WHO have advised that all women of childbearing age should be banned from drinking alcohol, and the FDA allowed and abetted the Sackler family to make millions from the suffering of many of America’s poorest communities, and kick started the shocking opioid crisis in America. Nope, I have no faith in the authorities at all!!
@BoodleBug51

If we're bringing in compulsory vaccination, can we please add compulsory treatment for health anxiety.

Thanks.

That IS the vaccination isn't it? Grin

The people I know that are vaccinated, have all taken it because they're terrified of contracting covid - because the mainstream media have convinced them they'll die unless they have the jab.

The unvaccinated are the ones that are less anxious and have faith in their immune system....?

XjustagirlX · 10/01/2022 13:22

Some would receive full pay or sick pay. Some wouldn’t. I agree I really do feel for people who can’t afford to be off work.

But I’ve seen pensioners refusing to test before meeting people as it is uncomfortable! And employed people meeting up with family when they have COVID.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 10/01/2022 13:24

JanisMoplin · 10/01/2022 13:25

My 17 year old-who had Covid already- has taken it as have all his friends because of the disruption caused to uni study. Hardly terrified given he recovered quickly and is healthy.

JanisMoplin · 10/01/2022 13:25

Study. Not uni study. Last year most of his friends were off because of Covid. This year, much better.

Zipzipyellow · 10/01/2022 13:25

@millymolls

You do realise triple vaccinated catch it and pass it on ? And before someone says less likely, that’s not correct according to data in the BMJ and Lancet and other factual data statistics Stop being a drama queen
I am triple vaccine and have caught it last week
UnconditionalSurrender · 10/01/2022 13:27

What's your definition of 'anti vax pish'? Do you include people who have doubts about getting the vaccine or only those who spread misinformation?

If they have doubts about getting the vaccine- they are unlikely to be vaccinated and therefore my previous comment wouldn't apply to them. However there are probably some people expressing doubts about the vaccine and are saying they are vaxxed when in fact they aren't. The anti vaxxers come in all shape and sizes.

ollyollyoxenfree · 10/01/2022 13:27

The people I know that are vaccinated, have all taken it because they're terrified of contracting covid - because the mainstream media have convinced them they'll die unless they have the jab.

@SarahBop

Am vaccinated because it has obvious societal benefits (that benefit me) and because even though I'm low risk, the benefits still clearly outweigh potential risks.

The unvaccinated are the ones that are less anxious and have faith in their immune system....?
I also have faith in my immune system which is why I gave it a heads up with a vaccine..

Faultymain5 · 10/01/2022 13:27

@UnconditionalSurrender

You're right OP. I have serious doubts that these people on the threads who start I'm vaccinated but then spew out the anti vax pish are vaccinated at all.
What exactly is Anti vax pish? Allowing people todecide for themselves. I'm fully vaccinated, and I believe people need to make the choices that are right for them.

My mum's nursing career was cut short, by the lifting of some obese patient, it has never occurred to her (or me) to think obese people should be turned away from hospitals, because of how they're decision to live their life could affect others.

Honeymint · 10/01/2022 13:28

A lot of people here seem very eager to throw ‘you do realise being vaccinated doesn’t stop you catching and passing on the virus?’ around like it’s a black and white situation.

The fact of the matter is a vaccinated person is far less likely to catch the virus and when they do catch it they’re less likely to pass it on as they often have less severe symptoms that last for a shorter period of time.

I don’t vaccines should be compulsory (unless for a job etc), but at this point really everyone should have been vaccinated unless they absolutely cannot be. It’s common sense not rocket science.
Pretty much everyone on this board will have had vaccines as a child, to act like they’re the devil all of a sudden is bizarre.

How this ever became a contentious issue I don’t know.

Catswhisky · 10/01/2022 13:28

OP your title has made people reply in kind. If you had started a thread “CEV positive and worried” and then explained your dh works on a covid ward, you would have got a much nicer response I’m sure.

I’m sorry you’re ill and hope you feel better soon.

I do agree with pps that if you are CEV and dh works where he was almost guaranteed to catch it then it was up to the two of you to assess the risk and find a way to manage it and minimise it, even if that meant living apart or dh changing role, rather than you to expect millions of other people to do something they don’t want to do, for you.

BoredZelda · 10/01/2022 13:29

Being vaccinated does not prevent you catching it or passing it on, it means your own symptoms will be less severe.

And, actually, the data for Delta variant showed a 63% prevention in transmission when vaccinated.

The narrative that it makes no difference is false.

treesandrocks · 10/01/2022 13:30

Shocking ignorance by the OP. FWIW I'm all for getting vaccinated because Covid is milder if you catch it.

The vaxxed still pass it on, in fact, they're more likely to because they don't even know they've got it most of the time. A theatre full of vaxxed not tested with covid passes will likely be swarming with Covid carriers, the unvaxxed with Covid are more likely to be at home necking paracetamol and Lemsip than out spreading it.

Anyway, ignorant or not, hope you feel better soon OP.

BoredZelda · 10/01/2022 13:30

If you had started a thread “CEV positive and worried” and then explained your dh works on a covid ward, you would have got a much nicer response I’m sure.

I disagree. I think it’s pretty clear that anyone who is worried is just expected to shut themselves and their family away because other people have “rights”

BoodleBug51 · 10/01/2022 13:30

I'm a T2 overweight diabetic. I refuse to bandy around a label like I'm more valuable than others, but I've technically had a Covid bullseye on my back for 18 months.

Caught it before Christmas, most likely at a mass vaccination clinic when having my booster. I then passed it onto DH (has had 2 vaccinations), DD2 (again 2 vaccinations) and DD3 (not vaccinated by choice). All 4 of us had the same degree of symptoms, and it was little more than a heavy head cold....... certainly not the "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE" that the media has drummed into us over the last 18 months.

So in spite of 3 vaccinations, I still spread Covid around (unwittingly) and yet my unvaccinated DD (with a heart issue and on the 1st list of vulnerable) was no less unwell than me. This god awful hysteria has to stop at some point.

FortVictoria · 10/01/2022 13:31

@HoardingSamphireSaurus

I am vaxxed, as is my whole family, but it is because of my own independent research

And your credentials are?

I don’t need credentials to think about and research matters that affect my own health and well being before making a decision. Surely most people do this as a matter of course?
PizzaCrust · 10/01/2022 13:31

You’re vaccinated.
You caught it from someone who was vaccinated.
Who maybe caught it from someone who was vaccinated.

But yes, blame unvaccinated people. Makes complete sense Hmm

SarahBop · 10/01/2022 13:31

@JanisMoplin

Oh well *@SarahBop* DS is vaxxed so if he now drops dead of a heart attack, my bad! I decided to ask a doctor instead of people on MN.
I sincerely hope not.

But we live in a sue-culture society. Of course the NHS doctor was going to recommend your Son has the vaccine - because if they'd dared to say NO DON'T and then your Son had caught covid and fallen really ill..you'd have been saying 'but Dr xxx Told me not to give it to him..and sued him/her'

IF, you had gone to a herbalist/nutritionist/holistic practitioner and asked for advice, they'd have been more likely to give you something to boost your Sons immune system naturally..and options to help him beat off covid when he caught it.

Follow your inner voice. I haven't asked anyones advice on whether or not to vaccinate my children; I made the decision myself, based on my own research and elimination of risk.

I decided that my children were more at risk from potenital side-effects associated in partaking in a medical-trial, than they were contracting a mild virus.

We are all free to make our own choices. Just because someone else tells us something; doesn't mean we shouldn't question the narrative and go against the grain occasionally.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 10/01/2022 13:32

Faith in their immune system?? What bollocks.
Would you have faith in your immune system against MRSA or Meningitis? How about HIV? Would you refuse the drugs for that?
The OP’s husband would not be in contact with these people if they had had the vaccine because they probably wouldn’t be needing his help. They would most likely have flu like symptoms. Nobody knows if they will react poorly to COVID so getting the vaccine prevents doctors, nurses, ambulance people etc having to be in contact with them. It also means that the NHS doesn’t become overwhelmed and we can concentrate on giving people cancer treatment and other things.
The vaccine’s that have been created are the biggest health triumph in my life time. Scientists around the world came together to create this life saving vaccine in unbelievable time frames and rather than being proud some people say ‘no thanks’ they are bloody crazy.

BoredZelda · 10/01/2022 13:32

The vaxxed still pass it on, in fact, they're more likely to because they don't even know they've got it most of the time.

You are correct that there is a lot of ignorance out there.

FortVictoria · 10/01/2022 13:32

That doesn’t mean that the decision I made for me is right for everyone. Just that it’s right for me.

PizzaCrust · 10/01/2022 13:32

Best response on this thread by far.
