Sir Kier Starmer In Isolation Again.

6th period of Covid isolation for Sir Kier Starner.I wonder if he has just been incredibly unlucky, or been rather reckless? He's had Covid twice and isolated following contact with infected individuals 4 times.

Does anyone else find it odd?

I thought close contacts only had to isolate if not double vaccinated. So are we to assume that Keri Starmer is not vaccinated??

Current guidance for close contacts states:

"You do not need to self-isolate if any of the following apply:
• you're fully vaccinated – this means 14 days have passed since your final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine
• you're under 18 years and 6 months old
• you're taking part or have taken part in an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
• you're not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons"

Yes but he hasn't had Covid 6 times has he?

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2022 16:37

Yes but he hasn't had Covid 6 times has he?

The guidance you quoted has changed fairly recently. It’s not rocket science. We’ve even seen pictures of him being vaccinated.

Exhausteddog · 06/01/2022 16:38

The pandemic started nearly 2 years ago, the exemption from isolating as a close contact only changed in August. I'm pretty sure one of the isolations pre August was one of his children. He has had covid twice though.

No need to be rude. I never said it was "rocket science" or anything complex to answer.

I just wondered as I was reading the thread and thought 6 isolation periods seems excessive. Plus the thread title doesn't say he has Covid it just says he is isolating.

Personally I don't go hunting for pictures of MPs being vaccinated, but you crack on if that's your thing.

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2022 16:41

If you’d read the thread, plenty of people have said he actually has covid now.

CovidForChristmas · 06/01/2022 17:05

Had covid twice here and had to isolate as a close contact more then once in addition.
Not at all unusual in the London borough I live in.
Agree with those saying it just shows he’s followed guidance and takes it seriously. Nothing more sinister.

rrhuth · 06/01/2022 20:26

Oh for goodness' sake, really do you think the leader of the opposition who called for an accelerated booster rollout isn't vaccinated?

Get real.

Bobholll · 06/01/2022 20:43

@ChequerBoard - the rules on close contact isolation have changed very recently. Through 2020 & the majority of 2021, you had to isolate if you were.

Well done you if you’ve not had to isolate a lot. I’ve done it 6 times. My kids got in separately so that was two lots of whole household isolation under the old rules , I’ve had it twice & I’ve been a close contact under the old rules twice.

I know plenty of people who’ve had multiple periods of isolation pre-the rule change, especially kids whose bubbles kept bursting at school.

Tell me about it. Obviously take no interest in the news as it is documented he has covid again. Plus pay no attention to the rules and their many, many changes. He obviously hasn't isolated 4 times in the last couple of weeks, has he?!
StopStartStop · 06/01/2022 23:08

Can we make it permanent? Or refuse to let him out until he can (and will) say the words "Only women have cervixes."

TalkToTheHand123 · 06/01/2022 23:10

He should isolate permanenly, the big wallop.

TalkToTheHand123 · 06/01/2022 23:11

Great minds!

This.

It's nothing odd at all. Unlike most of the cabinet, Keir actually lives in London. Full-time. Most MPs including Boris (who escapes to Chequers as much as possible) don't live in London. They just stay temporarily when at the commons.

Keir will be more exposed. His children are at school in a London borough that is in the top 10 areas of the UK for unvaccinated. Less than 50% of the London borough of Camden residents are fully vaccinated - with many not even having had one dose.

With the sheer numbers living there and high rates of unvaccinated, Londoners (including those who are fully vaccinated) will be more vulnerable than people in most other areas.

madisonbridges · 07/01/2022 01:15

I think Keir starmer will be meeting people from different walks of life and so his risk of catching it is going to be greater. But didn't people on here blame Johnson when he caught it for not being careful enough?
