Sir Kier Starmer In Isolation Again.

Overdon · 05/01/2022 21:58

6th period of Covid isolation for Sir Kier Starner.I wonder if he has just been incredibly unlucky, or been rather reckless? He's had Covid twice and isolated following contact with infected individuals 4 times.

Does anyone else find it odd?

I dont think its a lot seeing as the rules were changed at one point you had to isolate as a close contact so thwas 4 timesat

whynotwhatknot · 05/01/2022 22:57

4 times*

Frankly if he isolated for the next decade it would suit me.

Fair play to him testing as appropriate though

greenlynx · 05/01/2022 23:01

It shows that he’s testing regularly.
He’s out and about because of his job and has DC at school. There were millions of threads on MN where people were complaining about one isolation after another and thousands threads about catching Covid second time. Nothing unusual about his situation.

hangonamo · 05/01/2022 23:03

According to the papers he's well but tests daily and it was picked up that way

see now that's interesting....I do wonder what she does exactly because she is no longer registered to practice law. When articles forast came out, she was described as an Occuaptional Therapist, which is what i was before I retired....its a protected title so out of interste I checked the register and she wasn't on it.....shortly after that, I read on third hand articles that she works in Occy Health but I can't help wondering what as. Occy Heath is normally composed of health qualified staff and admin....she's not qualified in any health profession and, as i said she is not registered to practice law (or wasn't about six months ago when I checked) I am betting that she doesn't work as a secretary or admin.

I wouldn't care except that KS has used the statement that she works in the NHS a few times to score political points but has never said what she actually does..There are jobs (mostly in child protection or mental health) where people have good reason to keep their work strictly private but then why mention it at all...also they don't tend to be jobs that are done by someone with a law background, especially someone who is no longer registered to practice.....

Can i ask where you got the info about her working in Occy Health?

oh and before the pile on starts, no I have no right to know what her job is and she is entitled to her privacy....but by me that entitlement means that her husband should not use her alleged NHS employee status to score points.

Overdon · 05/01/2022 23:13

@PeaceONoeuf yes she is good value sometimes.

I’ve isolated 3 times and had covid once. My job involves far fewer people and I live in a rural area. I’m not going clubbing, hanging around crowded tubs stations or breathing near randoms, it’s just how things have gone. DH has only had to isolate with me and we (perhaps obviously) go to many of the same places.

I think we need to move on from looking at people suspiciously when they catch covid.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/01/2022 23:19

@godmum56, all newspaper reports refer to her as working in OH. I've never seen OT mentioned in relation to her career.

Maybe she's an OH / HR crossover post to ensure things are done correctly, given her legal background?

no the OT references got removed quicksmart...I have got screenshots somewhere......I doubt that the NHS would want to employ someone with a legal background and no registration....her advice would not be worth having. NHS trust employ or retain their own legal staff if they need advice.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/01/2022 23:33

Clearly the OT references were journalistic errors. You seem rather het up about her role; are you saying they're lying about her job?

no not het up....I just see stuff like that and it makes me wonder what is going on.....like doing a crossword puzzle

@godmum56 how is your digging around into the employment status of Keir Starmer's wife relevant to his isolating with a covid positive test result?

And as for I have got screenshots somewhere - have you nothing better to do?

mumofEandE · 05/01/2022 23:44

I thought that we just have to do daily LFTs now rather than isolate if we have a close contact and we are getting negative LFT results?

Akire · 05/01/2022 23:47

He’s GOT COVID

Overdon · 05/01/2022 23:52

@godmum56 yes it does sound like some political point scoring has been at play, although I only found out she worked for the NHS tonight so it went over my head, I just assumed she'd be a consultant.doctor type.

Overdon · 06/01/2022 00:04

Back on topic, it sounds like Keir will come back from isolation wearing head to toe PPE so Angela don't nick his job.

Well yes because of the assumption by other posters that she works in the NHS in a job that requites PPE. And as I said, I like a puzzle, kind of like a murder mystery....good for the brain and very relaxing Grin

Re his wife I think it's just like many marriages - one persons career takes priority and it's often the husbands.

They married in 2007. He became Director of Public Prosecutions in 2008. She was away from law having the children. Then they decide her career will take a back seat so she can be there for the kids and possibly their parents as Keir's mother was disabled and her parents lived on the same street as the Starmers (her mother died in 2020)

A 2008 profile mentioned that Victoria worked as a mentor to deprived children, before moving on to work in the NHS. So what if she has no medical qualifications.
She has a work ethic and wants to do something productive for her community. But her husband's job means she is also the primary carer for their children.

Flaxmeadow · 06/01/2022 06:29

I've never heard of anyone having to isolate 6 times, it is unusual surely

It's not unusual in urban areas, neither is getting covid twice now

rrhuth · 06/01/2022 06:58

I wouldn't care except that KS has used the statement that she works in the NHS a few times to score political points

Confused his wife does work for the NHS, you're making a political point criticising a politician for making a political point IMO.

I honestly don't understand what people are moaning about.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 06/01/2022 07:04

She works in occupational health in the NHS I can see why they are vigilant.

Woolandwonder · 06/01/2022 07:13

Lots of people who work in the NHS don't have a professional qualification or are registered with a body.
He lives in London. He's got 2 kids at school, both him and his wife mostly probably work outside the house, it's not hugely suprising he's had to isolate a number of times and has had covid twice.

Likkleredridinghood · 06/01/2022 07:29

What's with the grin emoji ? What a weird thread. Maybe use the same powers of deduction to work out how many kids Johnson has or whether he attended any parties over xmas ?
