I know @PurpleDaisies it's driving me mad

@emailaddressplease

People need to learn the difference and it's really pees me off. If you have symptoms - PCR it's really not rocket science. Both PCR and LF's test in different ways.

LF ARE FOR NO SYMPTOMS.

You are wrong.

People who receive negative LFD results on day 6 and day 7 of their self-isolation period – with tests taken 24 hours apart – will no longer have to self-isolate for the full 10 days. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period.

If what you say is true (it’s not) why would the Government put out this 5 days ago?

shinynewapple21 · 27/12/2021 21:47

@NinaDefoe I think 11 tests over 5 days is a bit excessive . No wonder people are struggling to get tests ! One test per day is enough .

We were given 4 boxes each at the start of the Christmas holidays.
Our school has had so many sent to us they don’t know what to do with them all.
The corridors are constantly filled with boxes.
Someone somewhere is making a hell of a lot of money and the Government is wasting tons of money.

I have them so I’m using them. I can’t give them away.

friedeggandsauce · 27/12/2021 22:02

We went yesterday and had results in 24 hours

friedeggandsauce · 27/12/2021 22:03

@LaurieFairyCake

I'm confused Confused

Royal Mail are not delivering today (Monday) or yesterday (Sunday) OR tomorrow (Tuesday)

So you can't get postal Pcrs

When I got postal tests the other I had mine delivered to me on a Sunday by a man in a van
Goawayangryman · 27/12/2021 22:12

Posted two PCR for family members on Sat 18 December and they didn't come back till the wee small hours of Thursday 23rd. Priority postbox and everything. I'm sure there must be a bit of a backlog given the uptick in testing and cases.

DontPeeInThePlayHouse · 27/12/2021 22:17

The system updates at points in the day and will show all areas unavailable until it's complete. I had this problem a few months back and spoke to someone on 119 who explained and suggested to try again in a hour.

Bordois · 27/12/2021 22:29

Royal Mail aren't processing deliveries for private PCR tests until the 29th.

Which is just great for those who were made to pay a large amount of money for them.

frenchiemummy92 · 27/12/2021 23:57

I'm north east and couldn't get a PCR today any where local. Having to travel for one tomorrow morning

Quisto · 28/12/2021 09:22

I ordered a postal pcr last night, I've had a text saying that it will be delivered this morning. The priory post box at the end of my road is having a collection of pcr tests this afternoon at 3pm, despite the regular post not starting again until tomorrow. I'm expecting my results to be texted back to me tomorrow ( based on what happened with my son's test previously).

Cookerhood · 28/12/2021 10:05

Same here, we ordered one on Sunday, delivered 10am yesterday, collected from priority post box yesterday at 3pm - no results yet that I know of (it wasn't for me).

DopesickSis · 28/12/2021 11:09

Ordered postal PCR on Boxing Dqy, kit delivered at 12:00 yesterday (27th Dec). Test done and returned into the priority postbox by 14:00.

Results received today (28th Dec} at 11am.

Cookerhood · 28/12/2021 15:35

Our result came at 1pm (negative), so less than 24 hours since Royal Mail picked it up which is pretty impressive.

Zolss · 28/12/2021 15:51

Does anyone know when is the best time to order LFTs, can't get anywhere

IHateWasps · 28/12/2021 16:02

Try now. It's allowing me to order some at the moment. Otherwise check every hour or two.

SpringheelJack · 28/12/2021 18:34

*People do not seem to understand the difference between “lft’s should not be used to rule out covid if you have covid symptoms” and “lft’s don’t work with symptoms”.

I keep thinking at some point people will stop saying that lft’s somehow become useless if you have symptoms but I’m losing faith.*

This ^^ Driving me up the fucking wall.

Malteser71 · 29/12/2021 00:05

I was on a confusing thread a couple of weeks ago where everyone insisted that LFTs are used ONLY for asymptomatic testing.

Confusing because everyone I know who contracted covid first tested with LFT.

ThatsMe123 · 29/12/2021 00:25

Trying to get a pcr test for ds1. None available, anywhere in England.

ChequerBoard · 29/12/2021 00:35

@ThatsMe123

Try again in an hour or so, system seems to be a bit flakey.

I booked PCRs earlier and first time I tried I was only being offered venues over two hours away. An hour later and I've successfully booked at our local test centre.

frenchiemummy92 · 29/12/2021 00:38

@ThatsMe123 keep trying. We couldn't get our local test centre but did manage to get in one 40 minutes away from us.

ThatsMe123 · 29/12/2021 01:09

Thank you @frenchiemummy92. Will do. Have been trying for the last 6 hours. Only tests available in Scotland and Wales it seems..

frenchiemummy92 · 29/12/2021 01:12

@ThatsMe123 most the ones that showed to us today where "pop up" testing. Me and DP both looks at the same time and it showed us both different

This is not right.

Lfts and pcrs work the same way but pcrs are much more sensitive and accurate and processed by professionals.

The point is… if you’re have symptoms, you are more likely to have Covid so please get the more reliable PCR test to be super safe.

Lfts have a higher rate of false negatives. So you could be positive with symptoms and incorrectly get a negative lft. You need a PCR.

But if you have symptoms and get a positive from the less sensitive lft… you likely have Covid. The test is just less sensitive so if that tests positive, the more sensitive PCR most likely will too.

Covidwoes · 29/12/2021 07:22

I've woken up with a cough and headache, but can't get a PCR booked. Did LFT (which I won't rely on) which was negative, but I am fully aware you can have negative LFTs and still test positive. Tried booking a PCR and got this.
