PCR turn around where you live?

Ohnowhy2 · 22/12/2021 07:27

In contact on Friday to 2 people who have tested positive yesterday on LFT. I booked a PCR to be careful yesterday at 2.30pm. Spending Christmas with elderly relatives.

How long from PCR to getting the results was it for you?

So far lft negative where yet other 2 had big fat positives.

36 hrs and counting here in the SW - family arriving tomorrow (as long as negative)... nail-biting stuff - will be checking my phone all night!

sulkysukey · 22/12/2021 18:09

Literally just got the result as I posted so 36 hrs here :-)

trying29 · 22/12/2021 18:12

Did mine 9am yesterday in London, result at 7am today - positive

soyabean · 22/12/2021 18:18

Ordered postal test Thursday 7 am. It arrived Saturday 5 pm. Posted Sunday for 3 pm collection. Still no response.

Ihearthosesleighbellsringing · 22/12/2021 18:18

Last week 32hours and one I took yesterday came back in 24hours exactly.
Both positive and were in essex

prettymum · 22/12/2021 18:32

Still yet to receive result from Saturday and nothing from yesterday's drive through, what is going on?

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2021 18:50

Arghhh sorry to those of you testing positive Sad
I’m hoping ours comes back negative obviously, my food shopping was all delivered this morning, fuck knows what I’m going to do with it all if no one can come round!!

Wilma55 · 22/12/2021 18:52

Bedfordshire, postal sent Saturday, results today.

trying29 · 22/12/2021 18:54

Yes we were due to host for 9 people - we have a ton of food now!

chutneypig · 22/12/2021 18:55

Posted mine in a priority box Monday lunchtime,, still waiting so 55 hours and count. It did arrive Monday night at the lab.

In contrast everyone I know this week who has been to a test centre had their results back in under 24 hours. Lesson learnt there, first time I’ve tried the postal version and definitely the last.

MarshmallowFondant · 22/12/2021 18:58

@Notthisnotthat

I'm east coast of Scotland, was really easy to get a slot for a PCR, we live 5 mins from the drive through and we got the results in 26 hours.
Similar here on the west coast. DD tested on friday last week, results back in 25 hours. the rest of the family had to go on the saturday after she got a positive - results through in about 20 hours. DS had to re-test as his result was inconclusive, again just under 24 hours.

No issues getting slots at either the drive-through or walk-through centres.

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2021 19:01

Oh god I’d avoid a postal one like the plague if I could possibly get to a drive in test centre. I know some people don’t have a choice though! I hope they text or email the results rather than post them back to you Grin
Oh @trying29 that’s rubbish, sorry. We’re due to have 16, have told everyone else what’s going on and have warned them to have a contingency plan just in case (although I’m still certain that they have colds, perhaps this is just me being in denial!)…

Notonthestairs · 22/12/2021 19:05

But it can't be the postal service issue as it's arrived at the lab - so it must be the volume of tests?

I posted 2 yesterday afternoon. Still waiting.
We've used postal before and had results between 24-36 hours.

Gawd it's impossible to plan with any certainty.

Riverlee · 22/12/2021 19:07

Kent.

Nhs pcr centre - test midway, results that same evening
Public centre -test Saturday - 1pm, results Sunday evening

Evvyjb · 22/12/2021 19:08

Went for a drive through at Heathrow 9.30 Sunday morning. STILL nothing. I feel rotten so assume its positive, but DH work being difficult now (his hasn't appeared either)

MadameFantabulosa · 22/12/2021 19:10

Why does it take so long in U.K.? I’m in Eastern Europe and we can get PCR results in 15 minutes or an hour. If we want the no rush service it takes 6 hours! Last time I went back to U.K. I was on day 10 and had just boarded the flight home when my day 2 results came through!

Are you absolutely sure it’s PCR in 15 mins? That sounds like a lateral flow.

Devon. Test at 9am, results back at 7pm the same day!

Ellie1311 · 22/12/2021 21:25

We’re in North Yorkshire - me and my partner and 2 kids had drive through PCR 11am Sunday - we got our youngests results on the Monday at 4pm, myself and my partner results at 7pm and my eldests at 8pm. So less than 48 hours

HappyPumpkin81 · 22/12/2021 21:29

North East Scotland, tested Monday 11am at Walkthrough site. Results (thankfully negative) 7am on Wednesday. So 42 hours.

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2021 21:32

Okay so we got both our results back within 12 hours, both negative.
SE, got them done at Surrey sports park for anyone else who might be waiting for results from there.

Ohnowhy2 · 22/12/2021 21:35

Different times. Still waiting 30 hours. Just broke news to my parents I am nervous coming home. It didn’t go down well.
