A place to check in each day and support each other.

I tested positive today, now awaiting PCR results. I have severe asthma so slightly apprehensive about how this will go. Currently asymptomatic but starting to feel a bit 'glandy'.

How are you Flowers ?

Hi everyone. What a nice thread, it's good to share symptoms and check in on each other. I am a health anxiety sufferer and I'm currently on day 4 of covid. Body aches, leg pain, high temp, sore throat, stuff head etc. I've only had 1 jab so I'm freaking out and trying not to watch and tv or read any news. I'm so fed up 😔

Crackingowlsanctuary · 23/12/2021 16:50

Have only just found this thread but I also tested positive at the weekend and am on day 5. I started off with a few mild body aches, mainly in my hips and top of legs. Then that went and I just have a rubbish head cold, the same as others. Someone described it as having a thick head and that’s exactly how I feel!

Lots of pressure in my sinus and keep getting blocked up at night time and that’s just making me feel a little headachey too. Slightly tickly sore throat too and a bit of a cough. It’s the sinus stuff that’s the most annoying! Still have my taste and smell. Wouldn’t say I’ve had much fatigue (only from being stuck inside!). Going to do a lat flow tomorrow for day 6 although the one i did yesterday was very dark positive and I still feel quite ill so I have a feeling i may not get out after 7 days.

That being said, this is nowhere near the worst cold I’ve ever had… def had much worse!

Hope you’re all feeling better soon Flowers

AshLane · 23/12/2021 17:08

So ill here too. I was in bed for a whole weekend 11-12th, worked from home for the last week of term, limped through and then so ill from the 17th.

Double jabbed but work across many schools. Couldn't attend for my booster because I was already ill.
No test results yet ( a whole other story).

I've had to change my families plans for Christmas including not seeing my student DC's.

Thoroughly fed up, we both work in Education and have worked so hard with school and LA inspections, school closures, supporting staff MH, schools who have lost really good staff with long Covid etc etc.

Now no holiday to speak of.

Next step will be to reduce my hours or leave completely in the new year.

WinterDeWinter · 23/12/2021 18:01

Hello! DS 20 tested pos last Wed, DH symptoms last Friday and I started symptoms on Tuesday. Poor DD negative so is having to reverse isolate a bit, although we're pretty sure she'll get it.

Postponing Christmas till next Tuesday... I have dreaded this moment but feel much calmer knowing Omicron seems to be milder and we are now triple-vaxed. DH has chronic high BP so we're still a bit stressed, but fingers x'd.

LateralFlo · 23/12/2021 18:56

Day 3 (if 1st day of symptoms is day 0). Feel ok, just a bit foggy. Feeling very grateful it looks like I’m not going to be too bad with it. 🌷🌷🌺 to those feeling rough. Thank

Crackingowlsanctuary · 24/12/2021 08:51

Just woken up on day 6 and feel just as full of ‘cold’ as I did 4 days ago! Was hoping I would be feeling a bit better for Christmas Day dinner… think my smell is going too as I can’t smell my coffee beans barely.

Did a lat flow but as expected its a dark thick second line that came up instantly still… kind of expected that as I feel so rough still! I have a feeling I wont be getting out before 10 days.

Anyone else had crazy dreams? It must be the stress but I keep dreaming endlessly that I’m walking about with Covid in public but other people don't know, and in my head I’m panicking that I’m infecting everyone and at the same time hoping they don’t realise I have it and just desperately trying to get home!!

@Crackingowlsanctuary I had exactly the same dream last night! I dreamt I bumped into a friend while out who I know is also positive and we were just looking guiltily at each other, both knowing the other shouldn't be out. I hope you start feeling better soon and your taste stays until after Christmas at least!

Day 3 here and still negative on lateral flows which makes me wonder about the number of times I've done them over the past two years! Tickly cough already seems to be mostly gone this morning, though I did wake up with a massive headache. I also feel a bit more achey than I have done but it's nothing major and wouldn't have phased me in the slightest, pre-covid. Still waiting for the hammer to fall and get much worse but crossing everything it won't. Hope everyone feels okay today.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 24/12/2021 09:30

@Mackers17 this covid really messes with your head doesn’t it! It’s so different for everyone… like I said I’m still feeling just as ill (in a full of head cold way) and testing positive instantly on Lft but my teen son who is also on day 6 today has just woken up feeling 100% back to normal and completely clear on a Lft. Looks like I’ll be the only one having to stay in for the long haul! 😭

Inchagoill · 24/12/2021 10:02

Morning all!

Flowers to all who seem to be feeling rough with this, or anxious.

I haven't lft'd yet as wanted my coffee first! DD12's last day of isolation tomorrow - she has been fine throughout except loss of taste and smell from half way through. My cough and cold symptoms have gone, now have headache and weird symptoms of feeling like my nerves are stretched down back of both legs - very uncomfortable but not the ned of the world!

Someone said about smelling smoke that wasn't there - this is called phantosmia - I get it with migraines and it has been associated with Covid too I believe.

@brass4 sorry you are feeling so poorly and anxious - can you distract yourself with something? A good book or a Christmas film?

Inchagoill · 24/12/2021 10:08

@sleepismyhobby - it was you with the phantom smells - see my post above Smile

@TomorrowsPrincess - I hope you are feeling a little less down today. You haven't ruined anything, there's no point playing the blame game with Covid. Maybe you can have a second Xmas day where you're all well and can present your son with his beautiful bike. We have had to do this - had our Xmas dinner 2 days ago because the meat was going out of date (we weren't supposed to be at home over xmas) so we will have something easy on xmas day now. Will see parents in law for a second xmas day when we are all out of isolation. I am CV and we have also been shielding half the time and super careful but I think, having kids at school, its been a matter of when not if we get it. Very poor timing though!

@sunshine05 will you be the first of us out of isolation? Great news!

@AshLane I am so sorry to hear you have been so poorly all this time. Maybe, if it is Covid, you picked up a higher viral load with all your school contacts? My heart goes out to all school / education staff - unsung heroes, forced into working in a cloud of covid with minimal protection. Thank you for all you have done and I am sorry you will be thinking of leaving but I totally get it (ex-teacher here too). Try and get plenty of rest if you can and hope you start getting better really soon Flowers.

Welcome all to the thread.

There are too many now for me to mention you all individually but I am sending virtual cake, choc, tea, lemsip and flowers your way.

Please share any ways you are coping with any health anxiety / your symptoms.

Hello all , I'm on day six now. My main symptoms being exhaustion and feeling like I have severe morning sickness. I did an lft just now and it's much lighter and took minutes to develop. The one I took a week ago lit up like a Christmas tree. I've attached images to illustrate.

My husband is down now. The kids have tested negative so that's good news.

@Inchagoill
Morning!!
I'm feeling soooo much better. Only woke once last night and slept like a log otherwise.
Still feeling down but I'll get over it. I'm just a very tactile person with my partner and I miss hugs and kisses. He sat on the stairs last night and we had a chat while I was in the living room. He's still escaped it the twat 😂 not that I wish it on him coz he hasn't had his jabs.
I'm hopeful that I can test negative on day 6 + 7 and be free and this will all be over.
Keep going everyone...... we can do this 🤞🏼👍🏼

sunshine05 · 24/12/2021 12:51

maybe Inchagoill! Day 2 of negative lateral flow and I'm on day 7 so I'm FREEE!!!! Hoping you all get here soon too!

Feeling pretty good- only a residual cough still here. We were hoping to go to my mums as we do every year (do 2 tests, one today and 1 tomorrow) but my youngest is still postiive today so that won't be happening Sad

But I'm just glad to feel better. There's nothing like illness to make you appreciate good health and just to feel well!
xx

ballstoit · 24/12/2021 17:07

Hi, Can I join you please? Had positive LFT and PCR yesterday after suddenly feeling rough on Wednesday afternoon. I'm a teacher and ended up covering 2 classes last week as several colleagues tested positive so it was no surprise to see the pink line appear yesterday.

I felt like I had a heavy cold yesterday but am feeling gradually worse today - pain in my ribs and back which I guess is from the coughing. I have a mild heart condition so am keeping a close eye on my heart rate and oxygen levels but so far nothing to worry about.

DH is still negative so far. My DC (16,14 & 12) all had it in September so hopefully they'll avoid it. I can't believe that I managed to avoid it while living with them and have now got it from school!!

Looking forward to eating my DH's first ever Christmas dinner tomorrow so hoping I hang on to me taste at least until then Grin

Mackers17 · 25/12/2021 23:49

Evening! I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas Day and are feeling okay.

I'm having a bit of a stress-out this evening as DH has tested positive today. He's a bit unfit and overweight (we both are) and was jabbed with az so he's always been my main worry. He also had the booster on Sunday so I don't think it will have helped at all yet. He has a slight cough and says he feels under the weather and tired. As for me, no aches and pains and cough is almost non-existent but I do have a a very stuffy nose. It's still my anxiety that's giving me the most problems as I feel like I'm on the verge of panic much of the time.

Hoping everyone is doing well and has been able to taste the Christmas Dinner!

MonAlana · 26/12/2021 09:59

Day 5 unvaccinated here. Tested positive on Wednesday with scratchy throat. Felt rubbish on Thursday but well enough to work from home, developed bad cough but seems to be resolving.
Felt better by Friday but back pain started / very strange mid and upper back pain. Overall I feel like I’m recovering. I haven’t had fever because I’ve been consistently taking paracetamol, also taking Nurofen / ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and for aches, so I’ve felt ok.
I’ve also had litres of orange juice daily, lots of water, lots of vitamin c supplements as well as vitamin d, Calcium magnesium, zinc hand some curcumin and pipeline.

We’ve had a lovely Christmas at home with the children. DH was a lot worse last weekend with aches and fever but negative tests and only tested positive on Tuesday.
