A place to check in each day and support each other.

I tested positive today, now awaiting PCR results. I have severe asthma so slightly apprehensive about how this will go. Currently asymptomatic but starting to feel a bit 'glandy'.

How are you Flowers ?

Welcome @polkadotpixie @ToastCrumbsOnAPlate @sunshine05 @SameToo @workworkworkallday @EducatingArti @DancesWithFelines @LateralFlo

Sorry to hear you are joining us on this journey and xmas / holiday plans may have to change, but welcome all.

Day 4 for me and Day 8 for DD12 - DD has lost her sense of smell and taste but otherwise fine, I feel better in the mornings but go downhill from midday but I've had worse colds!

How is everyone distracting themselves?

@YourWinter how is your daughter?

sunshine05 · 21/12/2021 11:28

Inchagoill thanks! I'm distracting myself with 3 kids Grin and I'm supposed to be studying (a 2 year course in nutrition) but struggling to stay motivated with a banging head etc.
Feeling much better today actually and I'm only on day 4 but don't want to jinx it by saying it out loud.
I'm not allowed to suggest anything until I'm a qualified nutritional therapist but if anyone is interested in what I'm taking: up to 3 1g evervescent vitamin C and zinc tablets a day (I could take up to 6g but it gives you the runs! Its not dangerous just a side effect) also taking vitamin D, and finally a qualified nutritional therapist reccomended Quercetin 3x a day (up to 1000g) for my lungs/coughing. The coughing has virtually stopped so it must be helping.
Still have a headache and feel spacey though.... x

Whatapickle78 · 21/12/2021 12:00

I’m day 7 now and while the concerning symptoms (cough, fever etc) have gone, I’m feeling horrendous still. Muscle aches all over and very fatigued. Can barely get out of bed ☹️. I’m taking so many supplements I’m rattling! I’d love to hear from anyone further along from me who’s feeling better

Icequeen01 · 21/12/2021 12:12

Morning @Inchagoill and everyone else who has joined.

So day 5/6 here (day 6 is if you take it from my +lateral flow. Still feeling slightly congested in my nose and throat and thought I was getting a bit of a cough last night but that seems to have disappeared. Still feeling pretty good and so thankful I don't feel the way I did when I had it January. I don't know if its thanks to the booster or the new variant but I'm grateful!

Waiting now on elderly mum's postal PCR result. She sounded very down yesterday. I think she has had a reality check having to do her first LFDs and PCR as to what life is really like outside her four walls. She's also lonely but she came to my back door yesterday (she lives next door) and we had a very funny conversation through the glass with lots of miming and gesticulating 🤣 She seems brighter this morning and we are hoping her first great grandchild will be born today as my nephew's partner is very overdue and they have taken her in to hospital to induce her.

Hope everyone else is starting to improve. Make sure you all rest!

Icequeen01 · 21/12/2021 12:14

Also forgot to say DH still negative on his daily LFD and waiting for lazy bones DS to get up and do his!

Sunnysideup999 · 21/12/2021 12:20

My first symptom was sore chest . Had this for two days. Then mild cough , runny nose , headache, slight temp. Loss of taste and smell.
I never felt breathless fortunately.
Recovered after 6 days

sunshine05 · 21/12/2021 12:21

poor you whatapickle78 have you been bed bound/feeling that bad the whole time?
Hope you feel better soon. If some symptoms have cleared then that sounds like its good/going in the right direction? Lots of rest and fluids x

sunshine05 · 21/12/2021 12:23

my sense of taste and smell is still with me- fingers crossed it stays that way. sunnysideup999 6 days isn't too bad- crossing my fingers I manage something similar. I just want to be better for Xmas day Sad

LateralFlo · 21/12/2021 13:00

Ah, sorry to hear @Whatapickle78 . Hope it improves soon. I’m only on day 2 after a positive LFT so behind you on the Covid path.

polkadotpixie · 21/12/2021 17:12

@Inchagoill I don't have COVID, I had it in October but hope everyone on the thread is feeling better soon!

CherrieBlossom · 21/12/2021 17:32

@Icequeen01 how is your mum doing? Hope she’s ok, it’s such a worrying time waiting for results.

How is everyone eating - is your appetite the same? I lost my sense of smell yesterday and my taste is fading as well 🙁 makes me feel really anxious for some reason. I’m also extremely fatigued and aching all over.

@sunshine05 that’s really interesting about the supplements, can I ask a couple of things?

I’m currently taking 15mg zinc a day and whatever the standard recommended dose of vitamin d is. Is it safe to up these both then do you think? I’m getting some vitamin c tablets tomorrow from my mum as she’s dropping some off to me, shall I take 2 of them a day as well? I realise you can’t technically give advice, maybe you could just say whether you would or not lol.

Icequeen01 · 21/12/2021 17:41

She's doing ok thanks @CherrieBlossom She's waiting for her postal PCR result but seems well in herself and has no symptoms. She's packed her suitcase today ready for Friday when hopefully my DSis will come and take her back to hers so she's obviously thinking positively! Thank you for asking 😀

Delatron · 21/12/2021 17:41

Strange how the fatigue just lingers and lingers. I didn’t even have any symptoms. Just muscle aches on day 1. No cough, no headache. Just tired! Day 8 now hoping to perk up tomorrow.

CherrieBlossom · 21/12/2021 17:42

That’s great to hear she’s feeling well and not got any symptoms! Aw yes let’s hope it all goes to plan at the end of the week. Crazy time for all of us isn’t it, not a normal Christmas that’s for sure!

Icequeen01 · 21/12/2021 17:46

Sorry hit the Post button too soon! Sorry to hear you have now lost your sense of taste and smell. Luckily I haven't suffered with that on either occasion that I've had this damn virus. My DH caught Covid from me the first time I had it and he lost his smell and taste. His smell took ages to come back but it did eventually.

I hope you start to improve soon.

mycarsnores · 21/12/2021 17:52

Sorry to hear you’re all poorly. Waiting for PCR tomorrow but my symptoms started last Friday. Have horrendously painful throat, cough (now not as bad), achey and conjunctivitis in one eye! Can’t seem to sleep at night, then nodding off all day.
Saw GP this morning who examined me by the back door of the surgery wearing full PPE! Fortunately back of surgery is shielded by vast shrubbery so didn’t feel too exposed, but it was a bit bizarre..

PickledWilly · 21/12/2021 19:07

Feeling so down today and yesterday! I feel pretty normal most of the time but seem to have no energy. Do a few jobs then have to lie on the sofa. Usually a really active person and finding this hard. Had a few periods where I felt I couldn't breathe properly which have scared me.
Just sat down to eat dinner and cannot smell or taste anything which is super weird.
I am on day 7. Will I start to feel better soon?

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 21/12/2021 19:41

I hope you are all coping well with symptoms today. I've just had my positive PCR and am on day 4 now. I'm unable to eat without sickness and have a horrid sore throat too. The aches are less now.

AliceA2021 · 21/12/2021 20:05

I'm glad you are not too bad. Take care.

Bellybutton88 · 21/12/2021 21:08

@PickledWilly i am similar as you. Feeling quite down also and get tired very easily. On day 9 now and praying i get better so i no longer have to isolate. So tough!

Cal22 · 21/12/2021 22:51

I'm on day 8 of symptoms, woke up this morning with a nasty sore throat and a bad cough, I think my taste is coming back slightly after 4 days of losing it, I can tell if something is salty or sweet but the flavour is very dulled down if that makes sense! Can't smell anything at all though. I feel quite fatigued, but doesn't help I'm isolating on my own with 2 crazy boys! We are on day 11 of being stuck in the house now, as my 9yr old tested positive 3 days before me and his brother 😭 what I'd give to have a big garden right now 😂

Icequeen01 · 22/12/2021 10:04

Morning everyone, hope you all managed to get a goodnight's rest and are feeling a bit better this morning.

Great news for us - my elderly mum's PCR has come back negative! Such a relief. We will still get her to do an LFD on Friday morning to triple check but by then it will have been 10 days since her last contact with me so feel as confident as I can that she's not carrying the virus.

Salamander91 · 22/12/2021 11:47

My sons test came back positive this morning Sad I'm going for a pcr later because I have similar symptoms so expecting a positive too. Pretty mild symptoms so far thankfully. I started off with a sore throat and runny nose on Monday and started coughing last night. I'm hoping it doesn't get much worse. I'm so anxious.

Inchagoill · 22/12/2021 12:01

@Icequeen01that's great news!

Welcome everyone to this thread - hope we all get over this quickly and smoothly although it does sound as if a couple of you are having a worse time of it Sad.

Has everyone seen the new guidance this morning - here is a link to it. It says, for those who have Covid, if you are on day 6 or later (1st day of symptoms / positive test is day 0), you can take a lft and if it is negative, take another one 24h later and if still negative you can cease isolating.
www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection
It is under the part titled:
"If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have received a positive COVID-19 test result
Stay at home and self-isolate"

Also, here is a useful article about recovery of smell.
