A place to check in each day and support each other.

I tested positive today, now awaiting PCR results. I have severe asthma so slightly apprehensive about how this will go. Currently asymptomatic but starting to feel a bit 'glandy'.

How are you Flowers ?

cherrieblossom here is the vitamin C 4 Covid reccommendations which is backed by real science (if you're interested in more you can go to www.vitaminc4covid.com
So it says on the info sheet that a person if they so wish Wink can take 70-100mg zinc daily with early/mild covid.
Vit C a person can take up to 6g vit C a day- 1g every hour until you reach bowel tolerance (need the loo Grin) I managed 3g max! I'm now just taking 2g a day (2 evervescent vit C and zinc tablets) as I don't want to be rushing to the loo! Vit D up to 3,000iu a day - you can get those spray vitamin D which are 3,000 so I'm spraying that once in my mouth a day.

Hope that helps!

ps- ok I can't upload the document for some reason but you'll find more info on the link

@Salamander91 hi there i do hope you pull through! Im on my last day of isolation and i can say i was extremely anxious throughout, only seeing light at the end of the tunnel today. Hang in there!

Notverygrownup · 22/12/2021 12:12

Just joining the thread. I saw that on the news Inchagoill. I'm on day 8 since symptoms started - PCR positive 2 days later. (Have been v. tired and had sinus headaches, but otherwise fairly mild symptoms. ) So just did a LFT on day 8 and it lit up like a Christmas tree immediately. So disheartening. I am obviously still full of virus, and hoping this doesnt delay my release. Will now do the full 10 days.

Icequeen01 · 22/12/2021 12:14

I saw that @Inchagoill so as I'm day 6 today I did one this morning. It's very faint but I'm still showing positive. Bah humbug 😡😡

Cal22 · 22/12/2021 12:33

I did LF for me and my 2 boys this morning, 9yr old is negative, after testing positive 10days ago, mine was negative after testing positive 7days ago but symptoms started 9days ago, and my 7yr old is same as me with symptoms 9days ago but 7days since positive... His test today was faint positive 😔 very surprised mine is showing negative as I'm the only one with all the symptoms still!

sunshine05 · 22/12/2021 14:01

I've just tested ds who tested positive 9 days ago and he's negative! I'm going to test myself tomorrow, then hopefully I could be out by Christmas Eve. Even if we all test negative I don't think my mum will want us round Sad

Bizawit · 22/12/2021 14:18

Hi can I join? DD tested positive on Sunday and I tested positive yesterday 🙄. V mild sore throat/ cough/ cold symptoms so far, but I feel really drained and miserable. Stuck at home alone for Christmas with a toddler and a newborn. :(

Inchagoill · 22/12/2021 15:26

Welcome everyone Xmas Smile

Aw @Bizawit I'm sorry to hear this. Come and drink tea / lemsip virtually with us Brew. Hope it stays mild for you.

@Icequeen01 Good news it is very faint though. I thought I was day 6 today and tested but it was as strong as ever! I realised though that I am actually officially day 5 as day 1 is the day after your symptoms / lft +ve. Will try again tomorrow but not massively hopeful.

Good news for some, and false hope for others it seems!

@Bellybutton88 Yay for being your last day of isolation! Do you still have any symptoms? How is your anxiety?

Hi everyone I get out of isolation in Boxing Day my dh and ds are negative . I've got a really strange symptom. Can constantly smell cigarette smoke . I don't or anyone in my family smoke all a bit odd? I never lost taste/smell just felt a bit flu like

Icequeen01 · 22/12/2021 16:29

Oh I think I have made the same mistake as well then @Inchagoill
My symptoms started on Friday so I took it from then. Perhaps I am day 5 as well? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve heard of this as a symptom before. If you Google it you will probably find other threads.

@Inchagoill thank you Flowers

Bellybutton88 · 22/12/2021 17:32

@Inchagoill yes i have a terrible cough. Its so bad and i feel extra tired because I'm coughing so hard. The anxiety has not eased very much.. trying to keep calm and not worry too much. How are you doing today? @CherrieBlossom how are you ?

TomorrowsPrincess · 22/12/2021 19:58

Hi..... joining as I'm feeling very sorry for myself and tearful. Feel like I've ruined Christmas (I know it's silly)
Was a contact at work last Friday so have been LFT-ing since Sunday when I found out. Negative Monday and Tuesday morning so went to work (I'm double jabbed) then started to feel terrible Tuesday evening so did another LFT and booked a PCR. LFT was negative yesterday but this morning after my PCR, 2 LFT's have a faint positive line.
I was burning up all night, by lower back was agony and my skin was crawling and my head felt like it was going to explode.
Still feel the same today minus the back ache has eased.
The PCR will most definitely be positive. I'm in a separate room to everyone else. My son can't come home from his dads till the new year and we've bought him a beautiful surprise mountain bike for Xmas and I feel terrible. MIL can't come for Xmas dinner and DP has cancelled his works Xmas do.
I sat in the bath earlier just crying and feeling sorry for myself. I'm the only one in the house double jabbed and that does regular testing and I'M the one that's caught it and ruined Xmas for everyone.
I'm very rarely poorly and I generally crack on when I am, but this has floored me both mentally and physically.
Hoping for a good nights sleep tonight to help my body fight it.
I hope everyone else is fighting a good fight xx

Bizawit · 22/12/2021 20:19

@TomorrowsPrincess so sorry to hear :(. Hugs for you. It’s just the shittest timing in the world. But also remember this is not your fault!! It’s a virus; anyone can catch it at any point. Hope you feel better soon.

I’m also feeling rough this this evening. Barely eaten all day; just tried to have a bit of dinner and it’s made me SO nauseated. Feel like I might have to go be sick. 😨

Bellybutton88 · 22/12/2021 20:50

@TomorrowsPrincess i ditto @bizawit said. Could have been flu or any other cold virus. It sucks!! Iv given up on having the perfect Xmas.. focus on health and recovery and you can still have a great new year :)

TomorrowsPrincess · 22/12/2021 20:59

@Bizawit @Bellybutton88 thanks guys..... I know I'm being dramatic but it's all just shit that I've managed to dodge it for 2 years and now, boom!

It's my 40th on January the 1st so I'm praying it's all done and out the way for then....... life begins at 40 and all that jazz 😂

TomorrowsPrincess · 22/12/2021 21:46

Just had a message from DS's dad. DS has tested positive, so I'm pretty sure I've caught it from him and not work (I wear PPE for my job)
He was a little under the weather yesterday but is fine today.
DP has tested and is negative but I've run out of LFTs (I ordered more on Monday) I hope they come tomorrow so I can test my DD's.
The amount of people I've seen test positive is crazy..... every social media story is peoples pics of their positive tests.
Here's hoping we all get it out of the way and it gets weaker as we all build up immunity 🤞🏼

sunshine05 · 23/12/2021 11:01

I'm on day 7 today and have tested negative on my LF so I might get out tomorrow!
Feeling so much better. Hope you all recover quickly too and thanks for the handholding xx

sunshine05 · 23/12/2021 11:01

oh I mean I'm on day 6.

Icequeen01 · 23/12/2021 12:58

So pleased to hear you are feeling much better today @sunshine05
and release looks imminent! I'm day 6 or 7 - who knows! but sadly my LFT is still positive.

DH has taken DS22 to the drive-thru testing centre this morning as he has been streaming with cold all night. His LFD was negative this morning though. DS suffers from really bad rhinitis and they had no heating at his work yesterday and he was there for 9 hours. This happened once before and he came home streaming with cold then due to him being frozen to death. I googled it and cold can set of allergic rhinitis so he took a piriton which seems to have relieved the snottiness. Fingers crossed it's not round 2!

Salamander91 · 23/12/2021 14:10

Our results came back negative. I'm a bit confused how we have the same symptoms as positive ds but we're all negative Hmm guess we'll just keep taking the lfts

TomorrowsPrincess · 23/12/2021 14:19

Afternoon everyone.
I had a better nights sleep last night..... was up every couple of hours but managed to get back off to sleep each time.
Day 3 for me and I seem to have turned a corner today.
My headache has reduced and my body isn't aching as much. I'm sweating quite a lot tho so I'm hoping it's all sweating out of my body.
Spoke with my son on the phone at his dads and he feels absolutely fine which is a weight lifted.
DP and DD's all seem ok and have escaped it so far.... still waiting for PCR results.

Icequeen01 · 23/12/2021 14:57

This happened to us last January when we had our first round of Covid. I was positive but DH and DS negative. They tested again via PCR 4 days later and were positive. In all honesty I would do another PCR if you have the same symptoms.
Salamander91 · 23/12/2021 15:54

I might test us all again on monday. We won't be going anywhere until DS is out of isolation anyway.

Mackers17 · 23/12/2021 16:07

Hello all! Can I join please?

Day 2 here after a positive pcr yesterday. One of my DC was a close contact of someone over the weekend and had a temperature and cough at the start of the week so went for a pcr that came back positive. We took the rest of the household for pcrs and DH and other DC were negative but I was positive. Not feeling too bad so far to be fair. I had no symptoms when testing but by the evening (before results were received) I had a headache and a tickly throat with a really pathetic little cough. Today no headache, though the tickly throat and cough is still there. No other symptoms at the moment. As a possible point of interest, I had my booster on Sunday, so 3 days before positive pcr result. Poor DC (18 and double jabbed) has been rough with headache, sore throat, fever and chills etc like a bad cold or fly but already is much better and just has the cough and a mild sore throat now.

My main issue is, as others have said here, my health anxiety. I've panicked about this for almost 2 years and now it's here, I can't stop worrying and going over all the worst case scenarios in my head. I worry DC will get worse, or that DH will catch it and be very unwell. I feel pretty well myself atm as I've said, but I keep wondering and worrying about when I'm going to go downhill and how bad it will be etc, so just hoping for a handhold as I count down the days!

Hope everyone is feeling okay and improving quickly!
