A place to check in each day and support each other.

I tested positive today, now awaiting PCR results. I have severe asthma so slightly apprehensive about how this will go. Currently asymptomatic but starting to feel a bit 'glandy'.

How are you Flowers ?

@MotherQueenXeno

Thank you, I also hope it is the worst day. I think it is the fear of the unknown…of knowing it is not ‘just’ a cold. Good luck to you and I hope you (and everyone else on this thread) feel better soon
I know exactly what you mean, a lot of this is psychological isn’t it. We’ve all had colds and flu viruses before, and our brains were able to stay calm about them in general, and just focus on getting well.

Covid has been such a huge issue for almost two years now that it feels like this big shadow hiding and waiting to jump out and get us. I’m trying to just imagine I’ve got flu and think accordingly 😅

CherrieBlossom · 19/12/2021 21:23

@bananaandoears

How is everyone doing.

I've had my positive pcr result as expected so on day 3 now and just feel a bit groggy, achey and tired. Fingers crossed it stays like this. We will be free from isolation 27th December I think

Sorry to hear this, really hoping your symptoms stay mild. I’m feeling pretty awful but better than this morning- although the dreaded cough has started now.
bananaandoears · 19/12/2021 21:33

Thanks @CherrieBlossom it's definitely psychological for me, when I sit and think about it that's when I start to panic about what could happen. Sorry to hear your not felling too good, what day are you on

CherrieBlossom · 19/12/2021 21:48

Only day 2 😬 so feel like I’ve got a way to go yet. Got to do my PCR tomorrow to get confirmation but done 3 LFs and the line came up so fast on all of them.

Yes same here, sitting and dwelling on it makes things worse, the problem is when we feel like this we have no energy and too much time to think. Are you managing to distract yourself at all, if so how? Do you have any good Netflix shows you can recommend?

milliememum · 19/12/2021 21:52

Had a pcr this morning, waiting on results, voice sounds like I smoke 40 a day and very foggy head, have prepped dh and ds1 on possibility of doing Christmas food shop this week 😕

Choccymumma · 19/12/2021 23:05

Not a positive test but my daughter whos 11 has a temp of 38.3 tonight, a bit nauseous too. Health anxiety worrier here too so I'm worried she's going to be really poorly. I started another thread about children and symptoms which was reassuring but thought I'd drop in on here too.

Icequeen01 · 20/12/2021 09:55

So day 4 or 5 here. Not quite so snotty this morning but feel a bit congested in my throat/chest and my voice is very croaky. Still able to function normally with housework such as cooking, washing etc so on the whole doing pretty well.

DH, who was negative on his PCR and still showing negative on his daily LFD has just had to help my elderly mum (who lives next door) do her first PCR (postal). I had contact with her for about half an hour on Wednesday evening and although she had a negative LFD a couple of days ago we need to be sure she's ok before my sister drives 200 miles to pick her up on Xmas Eve to take her back to hers for Xmas so mum isn't on her own. DSIS's partner is asthmatic and we have my mum's first great grandchild due any second (she's 12 days late!) so can't take any chances.

Cal22 · 20/12/2021 10:30

I have health anxiety too, struggling through the past week with myself and my 2 boys all having covid. I've been hit pretty bad with it, but my 9yr old had a temp and headache for a day, but then was fine after that. My 7yr old had headaches, a sniffly nose, and a bit of a cough for a few days, but now he's feeling fine too. Hope your daughter just has it mild too.

Inchagoill · 20/12/2021 13:28

Morning all (actually afternoon)!

I slept for 12h straight and now feel a bit better as in chest isn't so painful and not coughing as much but still a bit achy all over!

I really feel for all teachers right now - seems the ones at my school have been in a covid cloud 6h a day, 5 days a week for the last couple of weeks. In the last week there was only 30 out of 60 Y6 children in! You guys need a break, not Covid over Christmas Flowers.

Inchagoill · 20/12/2021 13:46

Just catching up now - I was ploughing through all my marking but that is done now Xmas Grin so I feel if I get very poorly at least it won't affect my students, who have all worked very hard.

@MotherQueenXeno I'm sorry you are feeling so awful. What day are you on now? Hope you can get plenty of rest.
@Bellybutton88 We are here to hold your hand and give you virtual flowers and tea (or lemsip)! Keep us posted with how you are.
@bananaandoears Sorry to hear your PCR is +ve but I suppose you were expecting it. How are you feeling?
@voxnihili so sorry you've got this - and just in time for Xmas - really poor timing we all have here! Does your username reflect your symptoms?
@Icequeen01 - hope you are still not too bad and fingers crossed your Mum stays negative.
@CherrieBlossom How is your anxiety today and how are your Covid symptoms?
@milliememum - good luck for dh and ds1 doing the Xmas shop! Hope they come back with everything you need plus extra chocs for you Smile
@Choccymumma keep us posted on your daughter. I was really worried about mine as we all have some mild autoimmune issues going on, but she is on day 7 and still fine except maybe starting to lose smell and taste.
@Cal22 - sorry to hear you have been feeling rough but great news your kids have been ok - its such a worry for us mums, how it will impact them.
@PickledWilly @DewDropsonKittens how are you both?

@Inchagoill Glad you managed to have a good night's sleep. It really makes a difference. Also glad to hear your chest isn't hurting so much today.

Just remember everyone, every hour is an hour closer to us being out the other side of this. In fact, in the time it has taken you to read this you are another 2 minutes closer. Just take it step by step and you will all soon be out the other side. You can do this!

MotherQueenXeno · 20/12/2021 14:10

Inchagoill I am actually feeling a little better this afternoon, thank you for asking. My cough seems to have gone or at least greatly reduced. The fatigue is still very overwhelming though, but I am up moving around. Still don’t feel anywhere near normal though. I think I am on day 5ish

I hope everyone else has a good day and feels better.

sunshine05 · 20/12/2021 14:13

Hi!
I tested positive on saturday. I'm 44, have 3 kids and a hubby. 1 child is positive and so is hubby. They've barely got any symptoms.
I'm not too bad- cough, runny nose, headache and aches but my anxiety keeps creeping back. I'm so scared I'll get worse. Reading stuff about day 7 onwards where it can go either way. I blame the media. I just want to fast fwd a week and feel better Sad

sunshine05 · 20/12/2021 14:18

yes exactly cherrieblossom this is just like a horrid virus or the flu but with daily news about another person dying makes it so hard for my brain not to bombard me with anxiety inducing talk. Keeping busy (even if it's a distraction with the tv) definitely helps. Hope you all feel better soon! x

voxnihili · 20/12/2021 14:19

@Inchagoill - I’ve had my username for years. To be honest I can’t remember why I chose it!

My symptoms seem relatively mild at the moment - sore throat, aching muscles and cough. I haven’t got much get up and go either. I hope they don’t get worse.

I’d love to just relax in front of the TV but I’m isolating with my 3 year old. Not quite sure how I’m going to entertain her for the next 10 days Confused

milliememum · 20/12/2021 14:20

Feel a bit of a fraud today, just a slightly foggy head and cough, otherwise perfectly fineHmm still waiting on pcr results, tested yesterday morning, hope everyone else is feeling a bit better!

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 20/12/2021 14:22

Hi all. Started with with tiredness , aches and a sore throat on Saturday. I did a positive lft yesterday. I'm now waiting for my pcr to come back. Today the aches are better , but I feel very sick and unable to eat more than toast. I have asthma so am nervous about the coming days.

I'm pretty sure I caught what I have from my youngest. He's 4 and had a high temperature and vomiting , he's now exhausted and napping a lot. We didn't test him as he's autistic and it would be very distressing for him.

I wish you all wellFlowers

SameToo · 20/12/2021 14:31

Husband tested positive yesterday. Rest of us are negative so headed for a Xmas without husband Sad He’s had awful fevers. He also got his booster before his symptoms started but he would have unknowingly had Covid. Is it likely he’ll be even more poorly? I’d read the double whammy makes it worse but not sure how reliable that info is.

polkadotpixie · 20/12/2021 15:14

@SameToo I had my booster the day before my symptoms started. It was very mild for me, I WFH throughout and was the least unwell of us all so he won't necessarily be any more unwell

SameToo · 20/12/2021 15:18

Thanks @polkadotpixie that’s re assuring to know.

workworkworkallday · 20/12/2021 15:19

Myself, dd and DH all tested positive on Friday. Ds came back negative but I'm sure he has it as not stoped coughing. Dd no symptoms at all. DH aching and cold like symptoms.
I have an awful cough and when I cough my back and ribs/lungs hurt. Only when I cough though. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hope everyone positive is managing as well as can Thanks

EducatingArti · 20/12/2021 15:31

Hoping I can join. Just got a notification of positive PCR this morning. Only tested on Saturday because I had a very mild cough. Really not feeling that ill but somewhat tired. Have had booster about a month ago.
Means I get to isolate alone all over Christmas though.

Bellybutton88 · 20/12/2021 15:38

@ToastCrumbsOnAPlate i was like that to my appetite went and i had to force myself to eat, washing it down with water each time. It's awful but once you have some food in you hopefully it will make you feel some what better

@workworkworkallday yes i have that! Cough so much my back and ribs hurt!

DancesWithFelines · 20/12/2021 15:51

My son and I both woke up with symptoms. His LFT was positive straight away and I did two, one negative and one with an evap-type faint line after 40 mins.
Have both been for a PCR. Need to know ASAP as we have a cottage booked for Christmas!

LateralFlo · 20/12/2021 15:53

Thanks for the thread. Hope no one gets it too bad. Negative LFT this morning, felt ok; shivering at lunchtime, did another LFT, faint positive. Double jabbed. Thought I could put off the booster until I was off work! But no. Will instead be using my annual leave as sick leave.Confused 🌸🌺🌷to all and get well soon.
