… there’s a weekend meeting of SAGE & government…Oh the anxiety.

I’m supposed to be flying to see my family for Christmas on Tuesday. I am kicking myself for not booking to go earlier! If they announce lockdown before Christmas we’re all shafted aren’t we …?!

What the hell MNHQ? I used a swear word, but in your guidelines
"It's not our policy to delete swearwords". So why was my comment deleted?

Youaremypenguin · 18/12/2021 17:00

Not going crazy but I'd like to know sooner rather than later! We've booked tickets to take my DC away after Christmas as part of their present. I need to know if it's being stopped in advance of Christmas. There are many people who have made plans to visit others, stay in hotels and go out for meals, see pantomime shows etc. We really do need some notice on this!

Whatwouldscullydo · 18/12/2021 17:00

Surely the boosters aren't even going to have kicked in by Xmas day? The boosters aren't going to " save " Xmas.

Seems a bit daft to so desperately be plugging it. My drs have sent messages basically telling us to leave leave alone They are just doing covid shit.

People aren't gonna take a.lock down this Xmas regardless of what they say or do.

Ordering dinner on an App is one of the best things to happen IMO. Love it. No queuing at the bar either. That is my personal opinion though I don't need quoting and berating as to how ordering on Apps is a terrible thing. Grin

LittleRoundRobin · 18/12/2021 17:01

The Government can fuck right off if they they think everyone will comply. Who do they think they are? How DARE they even suggest a lockdown after they broke all the rules themselves?

EVERYONE needs to refuse to comply. All businesses/shops/restaurants etc... EVERYONE.

Was your swear word aimed at someone and could have been a personal attack?

And no WAY will it be just 2 weeks. It will be 2 MONTHS.(At least.) And WHO is going to pay peoples wages/rents/mortgage/bills etc???Fucking stupid idea. Also, the lockdowns don't work anyway. AND we are mostly vaccinated, so why the fuck are we having lockdowns.

Gwenhwyfar · 18/12/2021 17:03

"Was your swear word aimed at someone and could have been a personal attack?"

Don't tell me you've never seen that on MN before. It was aimed at a person's comment, yes.

We can quote who we want. I don't want loads of superfluous apps on my phone. If I'm forced to order at the table, I should be give my order to a person at the table.

I have seen personal attacks deleted before, yes.

Bingo

Gwenhwyfar · 18/12/2021 17:06

"I have seen personal attacks deleted before, yes."

I've seen people told to get lost in stronger words before and it's not deleted.

Momentsmatter · 18/12/2021 17:07

@containsnuts

I'm really annoyed at the prospect of being locked down all of January/February again because some people won't scale it back over Christmas Angry
I'm annoyed that I have to stop my Christmas celebrations because people can't be bothered to be locked down in January and February.

Here I am not saying I have plans for Christmas or want to be locked down but just illustrating that either way isn't wrong.

the80sweregreat · 18/12/2021 17:14

People did break the rules last year. Illegal parties, raves, you name it !
They will break them in droves this year too , even more so :(

amicissimma · 18/12/2021 17:15
That article's 3 weeks old.
happydappy2 · 18/12/2021 17:16

But surely if bars & restaurants are only allowed to have tables outside, it will be extremely hard to book an outside table for NYE. The young/ vaccinated not badly affected by covid will then be forced to party inside friends houses-no social distancing etc and rates will sky rocket...

DynamiteFilledRadish · 18/12/2021 17:17

just stay at home

No.

FYI, for the most impact it's stay THE FUCK at home.

thepeopleversuswork · 18/12/2021 17:18

I think we're heading for some sort of Level 2 type thing. And I wouldn't put money on it happening after Christmas either. I think things are moving too fast for that. Sorry to be the voice of doom here but the numbers in London are terrifying and I think they have to do something in the next 48 hours.

PavlovaTheRainbow · 18/12/2021 17:21

@Gwenhwyfar it’s getting a bit too woke round here for my liking.

vickyc90 · 18/12/2021 17:22

@dementedma

Sis due to travel up from London next Thursday. Its not going to happen, is it?
How is she getting up if she driving I would say yes, just park the car around the corner or in a garage

This is such an incredible immature attitude. I think the government are a bunch of selfish sleazy incompetents not fit for purpose but I don't follow their rules depending on their behaviour, I do it on weather the rules make sense or not.
vickyc90 · 18/12/2021 17:25

@StruggleStreet

I’m working on the assumption that it’ll be from Boxing Day and if not it’ll be a nice surprise. We’d planned to see DH family Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and then go to stay with my family from Boxing Day. Wishing we had planned to see them earlier on, they live far away and we haven’t been able to see much of them at all the past few years so will be gutted to have to miss time with them again.
Just go and enjoy yourself their wont be road blocks stopping you considering what BJ got up to last time it will just be discouraged
woodlandarchitect · 18/12/2021 17:28

@LittleRoundRobin don’t be thick

Many thanks Xmas Smile

ivykaty44 · 18/12/2021 17:29

I'm not spending hundreds on travel and tests to stand outside in December. Some of my friends want to cancel seeing me in the pub now and it makes a mockery of all the arrangements I've made to travel.

Seems your mates probably don’t want to get ill and are not concerned about the money you’ve spent traveling and aren’t going to be thinking oh we must meet up because you’ve spent so much money, even if we get 😷 sick
