I only made it two minutes in. He is really poor at interpreting data and extremely biased in his spin. Sad to read the comments, also.

Don’t believe all you read, it said in the DM that people were queuing for hours to get their jabs. Our local vaccine centre is in our city centre mall. I went past today and 5 people were queuing and the waiting room was completely empty. There were more nurses than people.

Perhaps where you were. The queue for St Thomas's stretched from the doors all the way across Westminster bridge. They showed it on the news. Madness.

Exhausteddog · 13/12/2021 23:54

Our local walk in clinics for boosters have queues of 3 hrs +

You might be interested in this: one of NSW's largest superspreader events thus far occurred at a regional nightclub just this past weekend. So far, the people infected with Omicron from this venue alone have reached triple figures. It does seem extremely infectious.

Professor Angus Dalgleish is an Oncologist, Professor and an infectious disease expert… but he can’t understand scientific data?

Right…

What he said made perfect sense to me.

milkyaqua · 14/12/2021 00:26

He is spinning facts to suit his narrative. Twisting the facts re California deaths and lockdowns, using correlation etc etc. I can't be bothered going into it.

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 14/12/2021 00:26

What Professor Dalgleish said is what is currently being said by experts in the USA, it is highly infectious but relatively mild.
Although we are being very strongly encouraged to have boosters.

It is interesting how different in tone the UK media is around this issue.

he is extremely biased in his spin?!

He is giving his professional view based on his professional experience, which seems to span over 47 yrs!!
Having looked up his biography, this person seems to know a thing or two about immune protection.

careful @milkyaqua.... some might think you're calling Prof Gus an antivaxxer Grin.

Booklover3 · 14/12/2021 00:31

I’m thinking it just doesn’t support your narrative @milkyaqua

milkyaqua · 14/12/2021 00:47

An ostrich convention!

Booklover3 · 14/12/2021 00:56

Grin I’ve certainly been called worse. I respect that we don’t hold the same view Brew

Ostriches don’t actually bury their heads in the sand to hide… they lay their eggs in a hole in the ground. They bury their head when they are rotating their eggs.

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 14/12/2021 01:01

I'm not an ostrich, I've just had my booster, my dc are double jabbed.
We've all been wearing masks in indoor public spaces including schools and gyms for months again now.
I'm fine with doing all that.

But the UK does currently have a very different slant on Omicron and I wonder how much of it is about getting Tory parties off the front pages of newspapers.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/12/2021 01:07

I've come to the conclusions that there is the science, which i have faith in but don't understand or follow, and there is politics and the media which I don't trust. So fundamentally I'm concerned but not going to let myself be heebie jeebied by the government. Meanwhile it might be wise to consider contingencies.

How do you know which variant you have? Surely a PCR test just says yes or no to Covid?

I believe they sequence them? They should notify you if it is Omicron

You are mistaken.
Booklover3 · 14/12/2021 01:20

The advice now is to test daily with a lateral flow test if you are notified you have been in close contact with a positive case… regardless of vaccine status
