Kudos to the Austrians

In Vienna yesterday, a massive peaceful demonstration on an unimaginable scale took place to protest against mandatory vaccinations. People of all ages took to the streets. Mainstream British media, as usual, are misreporting their numbers at 44,000 - there were at least 6-7 times over that many people, if not more. Austrians are primarily peaceful law-abiding citizens, so hopefully it'll send a strong message to the world when they take to the streets like this.

Thank goodness there are literally millions of people who are prepared to stand up to their rights across the world, including the UK. Kudos to Austria indeed! No one wants to be controlled by governments in the way that we are all heading - controlled by constant fear, controlled by technology (vaccine pass just to go into the bank your money is in), controlled by the army (Australia), borders closed (Canada). If only more people would see that tyranny is real and is going to get so much worse.

absolutely fantastic and i hope to see the same here against the restrictions
coogee · 12/12/2021 15:20

Cases of COVID have increased since the lockdown of the unvaccinated.

Just think how much worse it might have been if the unvaccinated hadn’t been locked down

elliehamster · 12/12/2021 15:22

Unfortunately marching and demonstrations won’t be enough, governments won’t take any notice. Instead we need to take our own freedom back and keep away from the tyranny in whatever way is necessary, whether that is taking a different job, moving schools, taking children out of school etc etc. I fully realise it won’t be easy, it will be extremely hard. I won’t accept being controlled any more.

QueenofKattegat · 12/12/2021 15:24

@scottishtablet23

Also - 'unimaginable scale'? Just goes to show the limits of your imaginations. Away back to your far-right bubbles.

@frazzledali - do you know me?! No, I didn't think so.... so enough of your bullying attitude!! You bully me, when I bully you, not a second sooner! Shameful person!!

A generic question to all on here, why do MNetters feel the right and need to respond to anything nowadays with a highly aggressive attitude?! It feels like MN turned into a massive playground for bullies.... especially on the covid platform.

Also, what's with the mindless questions of ....
were you there and counted every person?

You have heard of social media and live footages shared? I sooner believe what is being shown and shared by my own relatives/friends on social media than what is being reported by MSM.

People have turned into utter robots. Parroting the accepted party lines. Calling anyone who disagrees stupid, uneducated. It's shameful.

For what it's worth I agree with you, it's good to see people standing up.

elliehamster · 12/12/2021 15:26

Oh and Ive said it before, “unvaccinated” doesn’t just mean those pesky people who aren’t following the rules and being belligerent. If you don’t get your nth booster in time or the computer doesn’t register it, or you’re too ill from slide effects to want your 5th booster…you are immediately classed as unvaccinated and you will also be locked out of society. And locked out of your job potentially. In Australia, non vaccinated people are not allowed to work anywhere including at home? Bloody frightening tyranny.

MaxNormal · 12/12/2021 15:44

A couple of weeks ago people were largely horrified at Austria mandating vaccines.
Amazing how quickly that's now become normalised.

DaisyNGO · 12/12/2021 15:53

Elle "In Australia, non vaccinated people are not allowed to work anywhere including at home? Bloody frightening tyranny"

Wait, how does that work please? Sounds mad.

OP how does the lockdown work in reality?

My parents (80s) are very much in denial about this. They will need a paper passport as they don't understand the basic mobile they have for emergencies. I know they could learn but I hope they don't have to.

It hasn’t become normalised at all. Just a few very scared people on MN who dress that up with bolchy comments, and a few who actually love the pessimism and doom of more restrictions and enjoy others suffer / enjoy watching other people squirm being told what to do.
fakereview · 12/12/2021 16:43

@Libertybauble

Good for them - ordinary people standing up to the appalling authoritarianism being inflicted on them. I don’t think that being opposed to mandatory medical procedures or segregation of a group in society is a terribly far right position. Sounds like some of you would be very much at home in the far right, though you probably consider yourselves to be liberals.

Glad to see this and I will be marching myself if they try this in the UK. And I have had three vaccinations.

Totally agree. I've not had my booster yet (it's booked) but otherwise the same as you. Usually a libdem remainer type so not right wing at all!

I've said elsewhere that I could see the logic in vaccine passports for large indoor events for a short period eg 3 months but that's all.

DarknessAndLight · 12/12/2021 16:57

Good for them.
I’m appalled and terrified about what’s going on around the world. I hope people everywhere stand against tyranny.

MaxNormal · 12/12/2021 17:03

I'm glad you said that and I hope you're right.

LadyWithLapdog · 12/12/2021 17:08

Tyranny? Don't confuse your first world problem for actual tyranny.

MaxNormal · 12/12/2021 17:10

Don't confuse your first world problem for actual tyranny

Getting jailed for not taking a medical procedure meets the definition, regardless of where in the world it is.
At that point the state owns your body, you have no automony over it.

LadyWithLapdog · 12/12/2021 17:13

Who is getting jailed?

BTW Reuters puts the protest at 44,000 but surely your unbiased brother counts better.

Crazykatie · 12/12/2021 17:27

Why do some people demand the right to infect others, compulsory vaccination is impractical but severe restrictions should be enforced on the unvaccinated.
They are probably a much higher risk than overseas travellers.

marti76 · 12/12/2021 17:38

@coogee

I cannot believe what I am reading. If the unvaccinated were not locked down? Can you actually hear yourself?
MaxNormal · 12/12/2021 17:38

Crazykatie but if others have had the vaccine, yet can still get infected, then they too (ie the vaccinated) can pass the virus on. So what exactly is being stopped and who is being protected?

On another note, it's such a severe overstep of bodily autonomy to mandate that one should take a medical procedure in order to protect someone else. There's a reason that blood donation isn't mandatory, or living organ donation. It can and should only ever be a gift.
Otherwise it's an enormous slippery slope.

FOJN · 12/12/2021 17:47

Opposing compulsory vaccination and the creation of a two-tier society does not make you far-right!

No it doesn't but in the minds of some you are easier to dismiss if they can portray you as such. Interesting that those in favour of mandatory vaccines and vaccine segregation are oblivious to the fact they have more in common with fascists than those who object to it. It's frighteningly authoritarian.

If you value liberty then you accept the price you pay for your freedom is the right of other people to make, what you might consider, bad choices.

I've had two covid vaccines, third one is booked and I've had the flu vaccine.

DarknessAndLight · 12/12/2021 17:50

They’ve mandated vaccines for over 12’s and validity is only 9 months then time for a booster, I assume.
Obviously, many won’t be happy about this.

bumbleymummy · 12/12/2021 17:54

Well said @fojn

The only scared people I ever see on this type of thread are the ones like this one I’m appalled and terrified about what’s going on around the world. I hope people everywhere stand against tyranny. They are all quivering and terrified and full of doom and gloom. The hysteria they are whipping up amongst themselves is something else.

Personally, I wouldn't care if people were vaccinated or not if they would stop filling up ICU beds, if it only affected them, grand but like if you want to suffocate from covid tucked up in your own bed, knock yourself out.

Mojoj · 12/12/2021 18:03

You're wasting your time OP. Mumsnet is chock a block with dafties desperate to hand over their bodily autonomy to a Government that is morally corrupt.
