Literally everyone posting about refusing the boosters now after he back and forth with restrictions and the government breaking the rules etc! I can't believe it!
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
I wonder if it is like this in other countries who have reintroduced restrictions etc.

This is not my view btw, I'm happy to take my booster but obviously very annoyed with new restrictions too. So hope my sons Nativity isn't cancelled :(

There is a massive queue outside our local pop up vaccination centre. At the main centre in town the queue was 1h30.
People I know who've not had one yet all seem to be desperate to get one, lots of chat about where has the shortest queues, where you might be able to get an appt.
I'm volunteering at a pharmacy vac centre this afternoon and am gearing up for it to be manic. Still, the sun is shining :-)
@KatyRebecca84

We are putting something in our body that hasn't been tested

What a ridiculous lie. There have literally been billions of vaccine doses given after extensive testing before they were approved for use.
To be fair I have just read on Pfizer's own press release on Omicron that:
"These may not be all the possible side effects of the vaccine. Serious and unexpected side effects may occur. The possible side effects of the vaccine are still being studied in clinical trials. Call the vaccination provider or healthcare provider about bothersome side effects or side effects that do not go away"

Just did a walk in London quiet, easy

We’re facing a pretty fast spread and booster will help on a personal level, glad to have it

Is this people who can't get appointments? Must be awful queuing in this weather.
bumbleymummy · 09/12/2021 11:32

I think who had the vaccine because they’re worried about COVID don’t understand the people who only had it to ‘get back to normal’ or to go on holiday. So saying ‘but why wouldn’t you want to reduce your risk even that tiny bit more?’ means little because they weren’t that worried about their risk in the first place and are even less so now, after two doses. If they have their third to ‘get back to normal’/travel, will there then also be a 4th and a 5th etc?

RachC2021 · 09/12/2021 11:50

I’m not seeing anything of the sort. Nobody is posting about it either way. Just normal, random chitchat. The majority of my friends and colleagues will have all the jabs offered. A couple might not, but they don’t kick off about it.

SecretKeeper1 · 09/12/2021 13:30

Was Boris actually at the party?

lljkk · 09/12/2021 17:26

hmmm... Boosters are not much present on my social media. My facebook feed has (1st 10 posts):

 • Look how much my teenager ate!
 • ice in friend's Canadian city
 • cat food ad
 • testing rules to travel to USA question on expats forum
 • spiritual musings (parent of ravenous teenager)
 • local toilet building plans
 • Aunt's latest artistic effort
 • sport event ad
 • passport renewal woes (expat parent page again)
 • some political observation/opinion from old family friend

my twitter feed has (1st 10 posts)

 • wry comment from a statistican being told he doesn't understand statistics
 • ad
 • Parody Johnson account thanking Carrie for birth timing
 • news from my industry
 • another wry comment about Downing Street party
 • Cadbury ad
 • Michael Spicer wry comment on Downing Street party
 • Parody Johnson account thanking Carrie for birth timing in another funny way
 • yet another pundit talking about THAT party
 • some American political gossip I don't understand

Funny part is I don't care about that party. Not even Allegra Stratton's giggles. Just more proof to my Covid-controls-skeptic mind that the whole thing was obviously untenable & impossible.

So I am dismayed about the booster coercions & plan B myself, but not posting about that. No joy in commiserating with the mostly loons on the anti-Lockdown side, anyway. Other things in life are better to engage with...

Suzanne999 · 09/12/2021 17:29

I see ( as most probably do) the vaccinations and sensible Covid precautions separate from the idiotic Government we have. I refuse to be swayed by hysterics or idiots.
Vaccines protect. They have been effective for many, many years ( think back in history to Smallpox) The Covid vaccines have been developed in the same ways as dozens of other vaccines have been.
Being vaccinated protects me and the community I live and travel in. Wearing a mask in shops and the occasional pub does the same. It’s no big deal.
One reason I don’t touch F/book, Instagram etc.. is the raging hysteria that seems to break out.

LoveFall · 09/12/2021 17:34

@MatildaJayne

What a weird thread! So many people refusing to get a booster to ‘get back’ at the government? I don’t get it?
It is called cutting off your nose to spite your face.
CatNoBag · 09/12/2021 17:36

Nobody I know is saying this.

I got my booster last week, which was the earliest opportunity for me (and I'm quite early in my group), but would still be getting it next week if I hadn't. I'm getting jabbed to protect those close to me (and those everyone else) who are vulnerable and to do my very small part to protect the NHS. This isn't about politics, yes the politicians are utter shits, but the vaccines, restrictions etc comes from scientific data and advice, if it was down to the politicians a lot more would be dead and the NHS would be in tatters whilst the pubs and their Tory donating owners would be raking it in.

EvilPea · 09/12/2021 17:42

Most people I know are wearing masks, distancing, having boosters because they want to be safe, they want to do their bit. In spite of our shit show of a government

Pinksloth · 09/12/2021 17:45

It might be everyone on your feed but literally everyone I know irl is having the booster and wants to get it out of the way. I've had mine already and my son is having his second jab today (he's under 18).

I did it because there's a statistically much higher chance of ending up in hospital with Covid than with the vaccine. Also because I see it as for the greater good of the community. I've had Covid too but I know the antibodies drop quite significantly after a few months. Until they can assess with more certainty, those who are likely to get it mildly, I'm following scientific advice rather than that of people on FB.

Pinksloth · 09/12/2021 17:46

Oh and I absolutely despise our shitshow of a Government, especially BJ.

lljkk · 09/12/2021 17:47

Most my social media is funny. Genuine LOL. Or incredibly sweet/pretty/practical. Examples attached. Why do people tune their SM feed to outrage -- is that fun to you? Weirdos.

JamesWilbysAbs · 09/12/2021 17:50

I'm having my booster tomorrow. I haven't seen one friend post on socials about no longer having theirs. I don't understand the mentality.
TBH I can't get het up about Downing St parties. If they were all so foolish as to have parties then they put themselves at risk. I didn't party because I wanted to keep my personal risk low- I'm not bothered what some foolish, arrogant smart arse twits in No. 10 did. Their risk.

Shewholovedthethebanhills · 09/12/2021 17:59

Please tell me people aren’t actually that stupid. Refusing to get the booster because of restrictions? Because you don’t like restrictions? Any ideas what might help with that? Anyone?

SuperSue77 · 09/12/2021 18:04

Can’t wait to get my booster! Not heard anyone say they don’t want one, except posts on here.

DogInATent · 09/12/2021 18:09

Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Nope, after Brexit I cleared the batshit crazies out of my feed. No one on my feed is anti-vax or anti-booster. They're all quite normal.

cherish123 · 09/12/2021 18:11

@november90
Are you allowed to attend Nativity? Most schools aren't allowing parents and are filming them.

browneyes77 · 09/12/2021 18:14

@HariboMaroon

But lots of people (particularly younger people) only had their vaccinations as a way out of the pandemic and a way back to a more normal way of life. I can’t see a benefit to accepting a booster.

I’m double jabbed and I’ve had covid. Like I said, i would have got the booster if there were no restrictions as in my mind it would have been the acceptable pay off!!

Not even worth the effort of leaving the house for it now.

I think therein lies the difference between some of us.

Many of us who are quite happy to get the boosters, never looked at the ‘pay off’ as being able to go out and about more normally. We are happy to get the jabs and boosters, because the pay off is not ending up on a ventilator.

Things going back to a more normal way of life would just be an additional bonus. But not the key reason we opt to have the jabs.

RedToothBrush · 09/12/2021 18:17

We were going to be able to go to ours.

Then loads of kids tested positive over the weekend. So generally speaking I think that was probably fair enough under the circumstances.

Do you think it should have gone ahead given that more than 20% of the class were off and PHE has said its not a good idea since more and more kids were going down with it.

LuluBlakey1 · 09/12/2021 18:17

Huge queues for boosters every day this week, all day in our village. They are doing them up to 7pm at night and the queues are running down Front Street.
