Anyone else think our government took the royal piss last Christmas?

So the whole Downing Street party last year...this has really riled me. They put us all on restrictions against seeing family and friends while they all had a Christmas piss up with wine, cheese and no social distancing.
My MIL spent last Christmas alone 80 miles away as she didn't want to breach any rules, I know she could have come as she lives alone but she didn't believe it was allowed.
Now there's talk of restrictions on this Christmas? Well I'm sorry but I won't be complying with any restrictions over Christmas, I'll be seeing family as planned.
Our government is beyond useless

And yet there’s a thread running elsewhere on this site where people are queuing up to say they’ll be voting Tory next time around because “at least they know what a woman is”. Gender and how we deal with transgender ideology is a huge issue that effects women and children for sure, but anyone thinking Johnson and his cronies give a fuck about women and children is delusional.

Dominic Cummings
@Dominic2306
Lots of Shopping cart action today - Martin need a fucking dead cat army matey, yeah yeah Plan B great.... [thumbs up run from room] CRASH. Noooooo that will make the party story worrrrrse Martin, need something else. SMASH. [183 whatsapps in 4 mins from flat] Argh poor MEEEEEEE CRASH

Cyrilgoggin · 08/12/2021 13:38

The whole thing is not funny at all, but that tweet from Cummings did make me laugh.

DeclareThePenniesOnYourEyes · 08/12/2021 13:40

@EdinaMonsoon

I had to turn off PMQs. I couldn't listen to him dodge another question with his stock reply of accusing the opposition of politicking.

I can't believe some people think that this party doesn't matter. It is one of many situations where he has shown complete and utter contempt for the people of the UK and the law. His comment about the party being a non-event made me particularly rageful.

The repeated claim that Labour are trying to “play politics” made me think of this bit from The Thick of It. Except, obviously, not funny. Yes, of course they’re playing politics …. It’s fucking politics! Maybe you could join in Boris, you bellend.

Someone really is enjoying this isnt he? He really doesn't like Johnson does he?

There has been an exodus of people who are regarded as 'grown ups' from No10s staff in the last few months. And theres definitely been knives out about Johnson advisory team (see yesterday's Foreign Office car crash and the stuff about the personal intervention of Carrie for just one example).

Blaming staff isnt a shock. Someone has to be a scapegoat...

vera99 · 08/12/2021 13:42

@DeclareThePenniesOnYourEyes - well said these trivial distractions include flags, statues and assorted wokery and these shits lap up the "look over there" signalling. Squabble amongst yourselves don't question the powers that be. That said for any establishment Johnson is a joke gone far to far and they will let him hang until the next wave is over and dump on him before he jets away to riches in some foreign climes. He will be despised in the street here.

vera99 · 08/12/2021 13:45

I hate Dominic Cumming's but my hatred for Johnson trumps that so I follow him. He refuses to name him now just an emoticon of a shopping trolley . He has a lot of time on his hands and a deep sense of vengeance running in his cold dark heart.

vera99 · 08/12/2021 13:46

Talk of mass sackings of junior staff in No 10. Like that will help anything in trying to steer a way through this cursed pandemic.

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 13:46

What's the relevance of the shopping trolley representation?

vera99 · 08/12/2021 13:49

“No one could find a way around the problem of the Prime Minister [being] just like a shopping trolley smashing from one side of the aisle to the other.”

Earlier on Cummings was even more scathing in his attacks on Johnson, saying that he was unfit for office.

“Any system which ends up giving a choice between two people like [Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn] to lead is obviously a system that has gone extremely badly wrong,” he said.

“In any sensible, rational government it is complete crazy that I should have been in such a senior position in my personal opnion.

“I’m not smart, I’ve not built great things in the world, it’s completely crackers that someone like me should have been in there just the same as it was crackers Boris Johnson was in there.”

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 13:50

Well I agree with Cummings about all that.

Want a big dead cat?

Sack Henry Newman. Upset the wife in the process. Make Dom happy by doing this. Make Tory Backbenchers happy by doing this. Even if he's got fuck all to do with the parties.

It will make good headlines.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo

Well clearly they're all a bunch of absolute bottom of the barrel scum sucking tosspots....but.... I'll still be maintaining a distance from people this Christmas because the only people I would want to spend time with outside of my DH and DD are my in laws and they are all vulnerable for various medical reasons.

I don't follow the rules because the govt tells me to, I follow the logic of not wanting to infect people I love and who are more likely to be made seriously Ill by this virus. The simple fact is I have a 7 yr old in primary school who is always a Covid infection risk, and a 94yr old Nan-in-law who is cared for by MIl who's in her 70s with rheumatoid arthritis.

We'll do an outdoor meet up with MIL, we'll do virtual meet ups and phone calls, we'll exchange presents but spending hours indoors together is too big a risk with the Transformers variant invading the country.

I absolutely agree with this. I follow the rules because I'm not a selfish twunt, unlike the PM & co.

Talk that Cumming's and/or one of his proteges was behind the leaked video.

Isn’t there meant to be a Christmas briefing on the 18th
I don’t think anyone will be listening

well, I have voted Lib Dem and Green in recent elections [help]

We are in such a safe Tory seat that I could vote Monster Raving Looney Party really, no one else is likely to get in

What's the relevance of the shopping trolley representation?
Someone who is indecisive and is making it up as he goes along. Hence the idea of shopping trolley swerving across the isle and back again.
KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 14:39

Thanks.

KrispyKale · 08/12/2021 14:40

I described the government response as a farrago of blundering about so I get that visual!

WhenSepEnds · 08/12/2021 14:40

It's the video of them laughing that really done it for me AngryAngryAngry

RedToothBrush · 08/12/2021 14:43

I think the last day of Cummings job was something like the 17th December 2020. He worked his months notice i think.

Cyrilgoggin · 08/12/2021 14:55

I keep thinking about this. What planet are these people on? If there was a party was there no-one who said 'we shouldn't be doing this, it's against the law and it doesn't look good?' The culture must have come from the top. It's arrogance in the extreme.
