I haven’t as far as I know and I’m absolutely lost as to how I haven’t as I’m a teacher and loads of our kids and staff have it.

Not as far as I know, but I haven’t had an antibody test to check.

My auntie had it right at the start and I’d spent time with her, but there wasn’t much testing going on then.

FindSomethingToHelp · 06/12/2021 18:59

DD hasn't, she's had so many tests the last few weeks as literally her whole class (Year 3) have had it but she appears to be one of only 2 in the entire 30 who hasn't had it.

Noonoo8589 · 06/12/2021 19:01

My husband hasn’t (To his knowledge)
He’s unvaccinated and worked as a plasterer in people’s homes the whole way through.
He didn’t even catch it from me when I had it in October.

Longdistance · 06/12/2021 19:03

We haven’t had it. Me, dh and dds, neither have our immediate families. I work in a school, dm is in and out of hospital like a yo-yo.

Chessie678 · 06/12/2021 19:05

The latest study I read suggested that around 50% of the population has had it but that was a couple of months ago and there have been a lot of cases since then. That was consistent with another estimate I saw which suggested that around 1/3 of cases result in official positive tests (maybe a little higher now given testing of school children etc). . Many people are asymptomatic or don’t have typical symptoms or don’t test if they do have symptoms. It’s also difficult to conduct tests on young children and a lot of people wouldn’t. There is then the issue of lack of testing availability early on.

Topseyt · 06/12/2021 19:09

I haven't had it as far as I am aware, unless I was completely asymptotic. Same for DH. In fact, the only one of the five of us who has definitely had it (PCR tested) was DD3 last summer, and she was away at university at the time.

MrsMariaReynolds · 06/12/2021 19:18

I'm a primary school support staff member and worked with various bubbles all throughout the pandemic, even with key worker children when the majority of the pupils were learning at home. Haven't even had a Covid scare up to this point.

I had a horrible virus right at the start of the term/beginning of 2020, with a ridiculous cough I could not shake for weeks. Makes you wonder... 🤔

DanceInTheKitchen · 06/12/2021 19:26

We haven’t had it yet as far as we know. We work from home and haven’t mixed that much. The kids are mixing as normal though and have been in close contact with friends who have had it, I suppose they’ve just been fortunate to not catch it. Most people we know haven’t had it yet.

5128gap · 06/12/2021 19:38

Me. Worked throughout and taken public transport. Three household members, DP and numerous colleagues and close contacts have. I've done everything I'm lawfully allowed to throughout, including regular pubs, nightclubs, theatre, gigs. And Nada. I'm double jabbed, but so were most of the others. I've had the super cold twice though so haven't got some sort of amazing immune system.

5128gap · 06/12/2021 19:40

I also had a very nasty 'thing' early 2020 with a cough I couldn't shake and lost sense of smell.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 06/12/2021 20:49

Never had it. Kids have had it and breathed and sweated all over me and slept in my bed when they were poorly. Had 3 x vax. Or maybe I'm naturally immune 🤷🏻‍♀️

maddiemookins16mum · 06/12/2021 20:49

Me. Only know a handful who have.

Kshhuxnxk · 06/12/2021 20:54

Nope and only personally know another 8 that have.

GypsyWanderer · 06/12/2021 21:01

I posted a few days back saying us 5 didn’t catch it when DS had it in October. This evening DS16 and DD10 tested positive on lateral flow!

AngryApple · 06/12/2021 21:11

Perhaps I haven’t had it, because I’ve been vaccinated? Perhaps for some people the vaccinations work better than we thought? I really don’t know how I would have avoided it either!

IgneousRock · 06/12/2021 21:18

What do you mean, the vaccines work better than we thought? We know the vaccines work well, that's why the government are encouraging everyone to have them.

AngryApple · 06/12/2021 21:45

I mean they perhaps work even better than we had thought/anticipated/hoped for. I don’t think I could make that clearer!

That’s probably why I haven’t had it.

Similar here, spoke to soon we're all positive.
Not feeling so bad symptoms of a regular cold, more fearful than ill ATT.
