I haven’t as far as I know and I’m absolutely lost as to how I haven’t as I’m a teacher and loads of our kids and staff have it.

OP posts:
Flanjango · 05/12/2021 20:24

None of us have. 7 in household, a few working and three school age. Must been very lucky so far. So many I know have had it and a few are sadly no longer here.

Polmuggle · 05/12/2021 20:33

I only know two people who have had it! A colleague at work and a neighbour. I live in a weird covid free bubble.

BonesInTheOcean · 05/12/2021 20:38

nothing in my family - sisters in high risk type job, (1 school and 1 health care) me, no risk, been working from home

nothing at all - they both know people who have had it, and some who have died (previously healthy)

TuftyMarmoset · 05/12/2021 20:49

We haven’t afaik. We are 20somethings and DP is a student but we’ve been careful and double jabbed now.

Bellabelloo · 05/12/2021 20:55

Nope. And don't know many who have had it.

Stillgoings · 05/12/2021 20:59

No, me DH and two kids haven't. Both kids have been close contacts. Our parents and brothers and sisters haven't had it either

Oblomov21 · 05/12/2021 21:23

Nope. No one in our 4 person household. No one I know in RL either. Actually, correct that my brother did last month.

lillylemons · 05/12/2021 21:25

I've not had it nor has dh or the kids.

Dadhadaproton · 05/12/2021 21:29

Neither me nor husband has had it.
We are unable to have the jab and have traveled abroad three times all good.
We’ve been to lots of indoor and outdoor events , cinemas , busy restaurants and shops and shopping centres.
No problem whatsoever

No vaccine, did not have covid. DH worked through lockdowns in public-facing job. I was WFH. 2 primary-school-age DC did not catch it, too. Went to visit a friend in August, she was diagnosed with covid 2 days later, her husband- 5 days later, but I did not catch it. I have no idea why. Keep getting messages from NHS for vaccine, as, apparently, I 'am vulnerable', but my GP can not tell me why I am vulnerable, and I have no idea myself. We are in London.

thepeopleversuswork · 05/12/2021 23:16

To my knowledge I haven't... which surprises me as I have a daughter at school and have been commuting into an office in C London on and off, going to gigs/pubs etc. At least half of all the people I know have had it.

presel · 05/12/2021 23:22

None of our family or my siblings/grandparents have had it. We have a DD in nursery and we take her out all the time, to soft play/museums/theatre etc, and use public transport as we are car-free. Siblings have dcs in school and they've never had it either. We don't do LFTs regularly though, so there's a chance we could have been completely asymptomatic.

Glitterblue · 05/12/2021 23:33

DH and I haven't had it despite DD having it. My parents, in-laws and grandmother haven't either.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/12/2021 23:41

Nope. DS had it in the summer (caught at uni brought it home). DH and I were double jabbed and didn't get it. DS was fine after a couple of days. DH goes into London nearly every day. I go into work three days a week. DD is teaching.

Very few people we know have had it.

Hemingwayscatz · 06/12/2021 05:08

My Mum thought she hadn’t until she had an antibody test a year ago which was positive. Totally asymptomatic. Her friend was also asymptomatic when she had it despite having various illnesses, she wouldn’t have known if her LF hadn’t been positive. So I think lots have had it and just haven’t known. I have it right now and I wouldn’t have tested if my DD hadn’t tested positive last week. It just feels like a basic cold, I don’t have any covid symptoms at all so far.

TheLovelinessOfBaublyDemons · 06/12/2021 05:09

All of us, although DS 14 is self-isolating as from yesterday.

ElectraBlue · 06/12/2021 06:43

Never had it. Had close contacts with colleagues, friends and clients who then tested positive but somehow it has never affected me so far. I am in London where a high number of people have been/are infected.

Tumbleweed101 · 06/12/2021 06:57

Not yet. I've worked in a nursery throughout, including lockdown, have school age children, an adult daughter who works with covid patients and had it in the household!

I did an antibody test before I had vaccines which was negative, showing I probably hasn't had it when the household did (last xmas). I should probably do another at some point to see.

sofakingcool · 06/12/2021 07:13

Entire house has just had it over the last month - prior to that just one DS had it last year

Found this surprising, I work in a nursery with no social distancing between staff or children. Nursery had no known cases until 2 weeks ago when half of the staff went down with it (suspect come from a child)

DockOTheBay · 06/12/2021 07:15

@ColettesEarrings

About 56 million people in the UK haven't...
There will be a lot of people who were asymptomatic or didn't test for another reason too. For example when my older daughter had it, and then my 1 year old came down with identical symptoms, we didn't get her tested we just continued to isolate.
RumHoney · 06/12/2021 07:18

Only one person in my family (nephew). His brother/parent didn't catch it from him and the rest of us have stayed clear.

ColettesEarrings · 06/12/2021 07:46

@DockOTheBay, true but even if we treble the number who've had it, that's still more who haven't than have. It's just statistics. So numbers wise it's just not that surprising that people haven't had it.

Southbucksldn · 06/12/2021 14:39

@ Hemingwayscatz is right
We cannot say that they haven’t had Covid unless they have had a negative antibody test.
Lots of people only realise they have had it after an antibody test.
Back in July a significant % of children were estimated to have had an infection, based on population sampling and testing for antibodies (at that time children weren’t being vaccinated so antibodies were due to natural infection).
Asymptomatic and mild infections are quite common and there are also some good articles on % positive antibody estimations in the UK population: www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/coronaviruscovid19infectionsurveyantibodyandvaccinationdatafortheuk/7july2021#percentage-of-adults-testing-positive-for-covid-19-antibodies-and-percentage-of-adults-vaccinated-against-covid-19-in-england-wales-northern-ireland-and-scotland

Heatherjayne1972 · 06/12/2021 18:52

Nope.
I work up close and personal with people all day every day
Been with people who went to on to develop it over the next few days - nothing happened to me
Kids at school - it’s currently rife there but they’re ok as am I
Other family member works in a shop where the general public aren’t really sanitising or distancing -apparently

No none of us have had it. In fact the only people I can think of is my ( unvaccinated) ex and 5yr old nephew. Both had very mild cases

AlecTrevelyan006 · 06/12/2021 18:55

Neither me nor my wife have had it - she’s been back working in her small office since last summer. I do 3 days wfh, 2 days in the office.

Neither adult kids have it despite both having housemates that have tested positive
