… which one would you have and why?

I’ve got the option of either this week and can’t decide.

I had AZ before with no side effects but had Modena booster . Was fine for 24 hours and then it hit . I have never felt so cold, awful muscle aches, headache . That was yesterday afternoon, still aching but not shivery anymore .

There’s a national Pfizer shortage. Pfizer and Moderna are essentially the same vaccine, different brand.

Cookerhood · 08/12/2021 15:01

Where have you read that there's a Pfizer shortage?
Moderna & Pfizer use the same technology, it's not like having different brands of paracetamol where the active ingredient is exactly the same.

The moderna booster literally floored me for two weeks...felt worse than when I actually had COVID last year

lololololollll · 08/12/2021 15:14

Had AZ first time and Moderna booster. Didn't feel any effects from either

lololololollll · 08/12/2021 15:15

Oh actually my arm bloody hurts. Anyways I always wanted pfizer for some reason but got everything but

Citygirlinwellies · 08/12/2021 15:16

I had AZ for first two jabs. I felt pretty rough for a few days after both. Had Moderna booster last week. Only side effects were feeling tired and very cold for a few hours in the evening of the day I had it, but woke up feeling right as rain the next day. I also had a slightly sore arm for a couple of nights but only when I laid on it.

I know that my local vaccination centres are prioritising under 16's for the Pfizer jab as that is the only one that has been approved for under 16's in the UK. So all adults locally are being given Moderna.
Housewife2010 · 08/12/2021 15:26

My first two vaccinations were Pfizer. My booster was Moderna. Apart from a slightly sore arm, I had no side effects with any of the three vaccines, so it wouldn't bother me which one I had.

Cookerhood · 08/12/2021 15:27

I haven't heard of any shortages at the site I vaccninate at.

FortunaMajor · 08/12/2021 15:36

I did have a choice and went for Moderna after AZ for my first two. Picked it because it gives a slightly higher antibody response. The difference is meant to be negligible though.

I had mild flu like symptoms after my first AZ and same again after the Moderna. Both times paracetamol helped and symptoms lasted 36 hours. I had a flu jab the week before the Moderna with no reaction.

I have no complaints about roll out near me in the North West. I was invited booked and vaccinated all in just under 3 hours on Friday.

whitehorsesdonotlie · 08/12/2021 17:09

Dh had Moderna on Monday. Sore arm but no other side effects.

DramaAlpaca · 08/12/2021 17:25

Just waiting for mine now, it's Pfizer. I had Moderna before so hopefully no side effects this time

Igotstoknow · 08/12/2021 17:49

My first vaccine was moderna and I had such a bad reaction I haven't had my second vaccine. If I had to have the second one or a booster, I'd have anything that wasn't moderna.

oneglassandpuzzled · 08/12/2021 17:51

I had AZ for my first two jabs and was a little tired and nauseous the next day. No pain at all in my arm.

With moderna I have a very sore and swollen arm that stopped me sleeping last night, and a slight headache. It’s nothing major but I’m glad I didn’t have much planned today. I’m 57. I had covid just over a month ago, too.

No complaints from me, though, delighted to have had it done.

SecretKeeper1 · 11/12/2021 21:30

Well I had my Pfizer and had no side effects, so I think I might the right choice, for me. Thank you everyone for posting about your experiences, it did help me decide Flowers

I had Moderna booster after AZ x 2. Same reaction this time as with first AZ, tender arm and raised temperature for 24 hrs.

Tiredout123 · 11/12/2021 21:43

I had 2 AZ and then a Moderna booster on Thursday. Bit tired and v slightly achy. Sore arm. Nothing much. Have been going about my normal activities

Livpool · 11/12/2021 22:04

I had AZ for my first 2 dose and got
My booster today. It was Pfizer or nothing but I was just happy to have it.

FYI for any Liverpool-based people - Melwood are accepting walk ins as long as 3 months since your second dose
