… which one would you have and why?

I’ve got the option of either this week and can’t decide.

I felt more ill with all three of my jabs than I did with Covid pre jabs !!

JustDanceAddict · 02/12/2021 17:05

I had moderna yesterday for booster.
Had a bit of a temperature last night/earlier today (took paracetamol) and feel knackered. The usual tender site.
Nothing too bad though, I went to work later this morning. Now I just want to go to bed 😆

stopringingme · 02/12/2021 17:06

I had 2x AZ and I received Moderna booster yesterday morning, was fine until later in the day, my arm hurts and I feel a bit out of it but can function okay.

I did not sleep well as it was in my left arm and I usually sleep on my left.
I had no choice in which one was administered, I was just happy to get it done.

tadpole39 · 02/12/2021 17:19

Had moderna after az , really really sore arm and felt crappy but couldn’t tell you why. Feel so much better today, no effects at all after initial jabs so slightly taken aback!

Jacketpandbeans · 02/12/2021 18:54

Had AZ for first two jabs and felt a bit headachy and tired for a few days after the first one. Had moderna booster this week. Sore arm and slightly runny nose as side effects. Didn't have a choice but as others have said efficacy sounds good!

OnlyaMummy · 02/12/2021 19:09

I have had 2 Pfizer and one Moderna. Apart from a REALLY sore arm the Moderna and feeling lightheaded was fine.

My Pzifer made me feel lethargic and flu like got a while x

Thecommentsmakemechuckle · 02/12/2021 19:14

I had AZ for my first 2 and had some rubbish side effects - severe cold sores, headache and super tired. Had the Moderna booster last Friday and other than a 36 hour headache which was manageable with pain killers I’ve been totally fine, a wee bit tired maybe but not to the point I couldn’t work and look after my daughter. Definitely preferable to having another AZ!

BHX3000 · 02/12/2021 19:21

Pfizer, but I’m under 30 and they don’t recommend Moderna for under 30s where I live.

I had Pfizer for my first two doses and very mild side effects (sore arm, headache for 2-3 hours) so I’ll be very happy to get Pfizer again.

BobMortimersTrout · 02/12/2021 19:21

I had AZ for my first two - but shivery and body aches. Had Moderna as the booster 2 days ago - mild headache for a day and bit of an achy arm.

Thing is, our immune systems are all different, so we'll all react a bit differently. Our reactions aren't really going to tell you anything tbh...

Mistymountain · 02/12/2021 19:43

I had Moderna booster last week, the first two were AZ. I had an aching arm, but not so bad I couldn't sleep on it. Strangely I had 3 nights of very vivid dreams immediately after the vaccination, but I don't know if that's related.

meadowbleu · 02/12/2021 19:50

You don't get the same vaccine for a booster as you had for your original vaccinations and they don't use AZ as a booster is what I've been told.

I had AZ and got a couple of days being off colour and a sore arm.

My booster was Moderna, no choice offered and I was totally floored for five days with an exceptionally sore arm. Still pleased to have had the protection though.

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2021 19:53

Moderna I suppose, because my first ones were Moderna. However, it's irrelevant at the moment because I'm in Ireland and currently it's only the over 60s getting a booster, along with clinically vulnerable people.

Freshprincess · 02/12/2021 19:56

Pfizer as I had Moderna.

I read early on that Pfizer is the gold standard which has stuck with me, even though I know now that they are both essentially the same.

Grateful to get whatever I’m given tbh.

Bundlebuns · 02/12/2021 19:59

Moderna for me. Moderna has more mRNA vaccine than Pfizer. One dose of Pfizer is 30 mcg, and half a dose of Moderna (the booster) is 50mcg

herestoyoucolinrobinson · 02/12/2021 20:14

I’m hoping for Moderna but I’ll take whatever they offer! My appointment isn’t for a couple of weeks yet anyway. I mostly want it because my first 2 were Moderna.

NanooCov · 02/12/2021 20:38

I had AZ for my first two doses and had a pretty strong reaction to the first dose. Had to have a day in bed.
I had my booster on Tuesday and had moderna. No reaction at all. The woman administering the vaccinations said they are mixing it up as there is evidence a different "flavour" for your booster may give better protection. No idea if this is true.

soredust · 02/12/2021 20:40

I’d be happy with AZ again too, but I don’t think it’s even an option!

Well, if they want me to have a booster that or Novavax are the only ones I am prepared to take.

winnieanddaisy · 02/12/2021 20:46

My first 2 vaccines were Pfizer . I had slight flu type symptoms for about 24 hrs afterwards. I wasn't bothered which vaccine was my booster but it turns out it was Pfizer again . Another flu type symptoms for 24hr then all done .

User5252727 · 02/12/2021 20:47

I had Moderna this week, no side effects at all. My parents and PILs had Pfizer and were all fluey for a day or two. Totally anecdotal though!

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 02/12/2021 20:52

I had AZ for my first two & Pfizer for my booster. No side effects after either. Would quite like to be able to check if I have immunity. I have underlying issues, so no idea how well they're working

But @SecretKeeper1 I'm glad I didn't have to choose, but the most important thing is just to go & get one!! I know you're busy, & don't think you have time before Christmas, but covid would be worse!!

SecretKeeper1 · 02/12/2021 20:57

Oh don’t worry @NovemberNovemberDarkNights, I’m definitely getting it next week! I’ve got two walk in centres same distances away, each doing the different jabs, hence the thread. Grateful for either!!

I had a lot of side affects from Moderna - week if tiredness and 2-3 weeks of a big daily headache. I was told by a dr that Moderna is harder on the body.
I won’t have it again.

mattcockhand · 02/12/2021 21:02

I think it is a complete lottery whether or not you get side effects. I had Az x 2 & felt like shit after both of them for a good 36 hours. Had pfizer booster on monday.......& felt like shit again for another 36 hours 😢

Cookerhood · 02/12/2021 21:02

I would choose a different one to my first two if given the choice but it doesn't really matter.

Ginjanotaninja · 02/12/2021 21:11

I had Moderna after 2 AZ jabs. Nothing with the AZ but the Moderna booster knocked me sideways for a few days awful heavy flu symptoms inc earche, everything ached, shivers, fatigue. I was off work and in bed. Still very glad to have it though.
