… which one would you have and why?

I’ve got the option of either this week and can’t decide.

If I had the choice it would be Pfizer.
I was given Moderna.

No real reason why, except I have heard more about Pfizer I guess.

How were your side effects with Moderna?I’ve done some reading and reactions are statistically more likely with that one, but it’s what I would have chosen I think. But, like you say, a LOT more people are getting Pfizer, so now that I actually have the option for either, it’s thrown me!!

I had Pfizer for my booster. My DH and 2 DS’s have had 2 doses of Pfizer with only me having AZ and they were all fine after their vaccines, so I’m glad I got it, but would have taken Moderna as I believe it’s similar.

whereshalligo · 02/12/2021 15:35

Just had Moderna no choice hopefully no side effects. Had none so far with 2 x Az and one flu jab so fingers crossed

SpikeDearheart · 02/12/2021 15:35

I dimly recall that at one point it was thought that having two different kinds of vaccine might give better immunity - if that applies, then I would choose Moderna as I had Pfizer for the first two. I could be talking bollocks though as I haven't checked my facts 🤦🏼‍♀️

Gingerlovesbiscuits · 02/12/2021 15:35

Moderna is supposed to be more effective but with slightly more side effects. My mum and husband both had Pfizer boosters and were fine. I had Moderna and felt a bit nauseous with it but only for a few hours the following day.

Ulelia · 02/12/2021 15:38

I had Pfizer for the first two. First one was fine, second one I had bad flu like symptoms for 24 hours, which was really unpleasant but at least fast. I had moderna for my booster on Monday, and today is the first time I've been able to get out of bed or eat since, and my headache is still a shocker. I'm glad I had it but this certainly wasn't the optimal combination for me!

fakereview · 02/12/2021 15:41

I'd prefer to have AZ as I had that first time round and didn't have bad side effects (a bit headachey after the first though that could also have been hormonal, nothing at all with the second dose).

My mum and son both had Pfizer without incident though so I guess I would go for Pfizer given that we share a lot of genes and would probably react in a similar way :) I suspect I will get that as there is a lot more of it.

Chemenger · 02/12/2021 15:46

I had Moderna as a booster on Tuesday after two AZ. I felt awful the next day, fluey and shivery. However I do also seem to have caught a cold as well (negative Covid test) so it's hard to tell how much was the booster. Very sore arm, much more painful than the two AZ or my flu jab.

This is exactly what a friend has said (it that you Lucy?!) and I could have had it today, but I just haven’t got time this side of Christmas to be floored by it!

I've just had a Moderna booster after 2 x AZ. It was the only option at the venue I went to and I was just happy to get my booster! I've since had a quick Google and found a few articles quoting a study that showed the Moderna booster provoked a slightly stronger immune response than the Pfizer one. Either one is good though.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/12/2021 15:48

Pfizer because I had Pfizer for my first 2 and had no bad reaction.

soredust · 02/12/2021 15:49

Neither. Will be asking for AstraZeneca and if I can't get that I will wait for Novovax if I have to have a booster.

HollyandJingles · 02/12/2021 15:53

I had Moderna last Saturday after 2x AZ. No problems apart from a very sore arm, I can still feel it today. Was a bit worried but its been fine.

SusannaQueen · 02/12/2021 16:01

I want Novovax, but not sure when that will be available.

kokokokokokokokoko · 02/12/2021 16:03

i had two moderna for my original doses, so pfizer would be a better bet. I felt a bit rough for about 12 hrs after my second moderna, then fine again.

ColettesEarrings · 02/12/2021 16:03

I had Pfizer after having AZ for my first ones, wasn't given a choice. The data on Moderna is really excellent though, so given a choice I think I'd have gone for that despite side effects.

SecretKeeper1 · 02/12/2021 16:09

I’d be happy with AZ again too, but I don’t think it’s even an option!

I had AZ as my first doses, Moderna for my booster, only side effect was a painful arm but oddly only when i was laying down, after 3 nights it was fine.

albairlanda · 02/12/2021 16:16

@SusannaQueen my husband wants novavax too. He is still unjabbed as doesn't want Pfizer or moderna and was too young for Astra. 😬 he is considered anti vacc by a lot of our relatives and friends and ridiculed for it but he's genuinely afraid and hesitant. He feels better about novavax and Astra. Hope novavax available soon.

MerryChristmas31 · 02/12/2021 16:24

I'm due my booster in a few days! I had Az. I was assuming Pfizer but a relative who has had booster this week had moderna and had no choice in the matter!

Mischievous12 · 02/12/2021 16:27

I'd have been happy with whatever was going, and got Pfizer. No side effects. A friend had moderna and suffered fairly immediate fluey symptoms which lasted a few days, but is fine now. Hopefully both safely full of antibodies which is the main thing.

x2boys · 02/12/2021 16:27

Nothing to compare with but I had Pfizer, for both vaccinations and Booster ,and no side effects anytime .

SecretKeeper1 · 02/12/2021 16:34

Thanks everyone, I wish I didn’t have the choice to be honest, I’m too indecisive!! Swaying towards Pfizer now I think…

I had the Pfizer booster yesterday (after two AZ jabs - the first one made me quite unwell for a day). The Pfizer has made my arm pretty painful but no other side-effects, so far, although one of my colleagues at work was unwell for a couple of days after having the Pfizer booster.

Everyone seems to have a different experience with the jabs so it's probably down to individual make-up.
