Do you have a supply of lateral flow tests at home ?

My assumption is that most people have a box or two at home especially if you have school age children or go out to work ?

@Watapalava

Op colleagues clearly have symptoms so have to isolate and wait for pcr postal tests

You can’t use lft with symptoms then go to work!

In which case then it’s totally reasonable and presumably they’d be at home waiting in any case. Having LFTs around the house is neither here nor there.
Bootskates · 29/11/2021 21:16

Yep. Just order the box of 7 from the Gov website every week or 2. There is only me and DD but I work in the office 3x week and she is in school/asc/dance practice etc. Plus doing lft makes me feel better about the fact I don't restrict our weekend activities and go to germ pits soft play and the like.

FreeBritnee · 29/11/2021 21:17

Just ordered another box.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2021 21:19

yes, I get them from the Government website, work have asked us to test twice a week although it's not enforced as such.

rrhuth · 29/11/2021 21:20

Yes as it would be very annoying to be caught out without when e.g. visiting elderly relatives.

YuleHaveAWonderfulChristmas · 29/11/2021 21:21

Yep lots. We both test 3 times a week. No DC.

qualitygirl · 29/11/2021 21:21

Nope and have never even used one Grin

Yes
Grenlei · 29/11/2021 21:24

No, we don't have any - no school age DC, and I WFH all but 1-2 days per month. We're not asked to do LFTs before going in to the office as we are temperature checked.

RuthW · 29/11/2021 21:24

Yes I do them twice a week, daily fir a bit if I've been at risk. I work in the NHS.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/11/2021 21:27

I test twice a week (lecturer so do a test before face to face classes). I get the tests delivered in the post - when we got them from the pharmacy it was actually quite a faff, had to fill out a form and then wait with people collecting prescriptions.

WinterCarlisle · 29/11/2021 21:29

Yes. 3 DC at 3 schools and I work for the NHS

beentoldcomputersaysno · 29/11/2021 21:29

Yep

MsRinky · 29/11/2021 21:32

No kids, both WFH but we always have a few boxes in and we test before and after any higher-risk activities (gigs, nights out, visiting anyone more vulnerable). I pick them up from the Library.

Doublechins · 29/11/2021 21:35

Yeah we do

godmum56 · 29/11/2021 21:41

yep. I don't use them regularly as i don't go out much (old wonky dog who can't be left alone) but I got some for just in case.

RedHot22 · 29/11/2021 21:43

Yes, we do as DD and I needed them for work but we’re not longer testing at the moment

Cinders15 · 29/11/2021 22:00

Yes
Daughter is trainee teacher so needs to test twice a week

baroqueandblue · 29/11/2021 22:36

I ordered a new pack from the gov.uk site yesterday, Royal Mail posted it through my letterbox this morning. Really efficient (and the only good thing I have to say about the government's handling of the pandemic). You can also walk into any pharmacy and they'll give you a couple of boxes. But although the initial online sign up takes a few minutes, reordering is then much quicker if you're on the same device because your details get saved.

baroqueandblue · 29/11/2021 22:40

Sorry, forgot to say, I have regular contact with children (not got any of my own though) and see a handful of clients at home each week.

Lazypuppy · 29/11/2021 22:44

I work and have a child, and nope I have none at home

smellslikebasil · 29/11/2021 23:16

My DM is building up a stock of test packs by ordering them daily (the website allows you to order a new box every 24 hours). She is convinced the govt will be charging for them in future and the private ones are expensive, so she's stashing them so she can keep testing. I just pick up a box when I visit her, and my siblings do too.

OnTheBoardwalk · 29/11/2021 23:19

Getting them from pharmacy can be bit of issue now. Only cos the Tesco I went told me I needed a collect code now but they had no signal so had to go to car park hen and I then had to read the code out behind my mask! Proper stress

Bit of a faff but I’m ready next time. My fault I should have checked before I went

Just used my last test on someone incorrectly calling bullshit on me on another thread. God job I’ve got some more being delivered tomorrow!

Gertie75 · 29/11/2021 23:20

No, kids are primary age and I've only ever done one when asked to at my second vaccination.
Dh tests twice a week for work.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 30/11/2021 01:21

I have two boxes of NHS lateral flow tests and 5 boxes of BinaxNow tests - am in the US.

We actually use the NHS style lateral flow tests at the community Covid testing we do each week in my town, and they don't require swabbing the tonsils - just the nose. Much less unpleasant.
