Do you have a supply of lateral flow tests at home ?

My assumption is that most people have a box or two at home especially if you have school age children or go out to work ?

No but WFH and no DC. Think I've done 3 lateral flow and 3 PCR

BertieBotts · 29/11/2021 20:40

No, I've never done one. Have 3 DC but don't live in the UK.

BertieBotts · 29/11/2021 20:41

They are available to buy here but I've never seen the need Confused

AutumnAnn · 29/11/2021 20:45

We have 2 boxes of them as well as an unused PCR test laying around somewhere

RumHoney · 29/11/2021 20:47

My sister gave us a box of 3 because she had loads. My OH used one and we still have 2 left. Our lifestyle is such that I've never really felt the need (we rarely go anywhere risky, and for much of the last 18 months have been able to effectively self isolate while wfh before seeing vulnerable relatives). I actually did my first test tonight, but it was a day 2 travel test so i had to buy one rather than using the NHS ones we already had.

UnsuitableHat · 29/11/2021 20:48

Yeah I've got quite a few - work in education and they were always lying around.

SpangleWhorl · 29/11/2021 20:48

@Muchtoomuchtodo, the absences that the OP is complaining about in her second post.

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/11/2021 20:49

Yes

ginsparkles · 29/11/2021 20:49

Yes we have several boxes at home.

Caspianberg · 29/11/2021 20:50

No. Not in the uk and they aren’t valid for anything really now, so if we want a test needs to be a pcr done locally at pharmacy so not at home.

KatherineJaneway · 29/11/2021 20:50

Yes, I have a box and a half at the moment

FenceSplinters · 29/11/2021 20:50

Yes - I work in a school and have a school-aged child so we do them regularly. I have a wall of them in my classroom because the kids won’t take them.

peboh · 29/11/2021 20:52

Nope. I had to order a pack when dh was in hospital, but once they ran out and he was home I didn't get more.
Dd isn't at nursery yet, dh is off on long term sick and I'm a sahm and full time career currently so there's no reason for us to use them.

sofakingcool · 29/11/2021 20:53

@WildWombat

Nope, and genuinely have no idea where to get them. Pharmacy? I guess schools supply them for the kids?
Order them online, really easy
julieca · 29/11/2021 20:56

No, I have ordered some before travelling to see my vulnerable older relatives. But otherwise no.

HelplesslyHoping · 29/11/2021 20:56

Yes, we test 2-3 times a week, always before leaving the house. We were mistakenly sent 40 boxes so we won't have to order them for a while!

Lau52 · 29/11/2021 21:03

I order on line. Get box weekly roughly. Secondary child tests 3 times week. I wfh so test before seeing family or meeting up with anyone same as dh. Test my youngest 2 if get temp. My son did have covid few ago tested positive on lateral flow.

QuinceLady · 29/11/2021 21:04

Yes, we all do at least 2 a week.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 29/11/2021 21:04

Yep. Ordered some online. Collected some from pharmacy and more recently. been handed boxes outside the supermarket .
Test weekly as have Primary aged dd and also before and after social events and gigs etc

LHOOQ · 29/11/2021 21:04

Yes. Dh gets them at work. We have heaps.

thewhatsit · 29/11/2021 21:10

I’m confused about why your colleagues are waiting in for them?? Why can’t they just go to work?

Erm. A while back we had boxes coming out of our ears. I’m not sure where they came from. I think DH got given loads when he went for a PCR.

I’m rubbish at them and seem to go through about 2 little liquid capsules per test though so I’ve got loads of the paraphernalia but not enough capsules now.

Minceandonions · 29/11/2021 21:11

No and I've never seen one. No idea what any of the process involves.

Watapalava · 29/11/2021 21:12

Op colleagues clearly have symptoms so have to isolate and wait for pcr postal tests

You can’t use lft with symptoms then go to work!

Angel2702 · 29/11/2021 21:14

Yes kids bring them home, they were giving them out at every vaccination we’ve had, every PCR test we’ve had and we’ve ordered online when running low.

Yellow85 · 29/11/2021 21:15

I see my poor postman struggling with stacks of them for delivery everyday! I usually order online too, but now we get 2/3 boxes whenever we go for a PCR test at drive through site so we’re fully stocked.
