My assumption is that most people have a box or two at home especially if you have school age children or go out to work ?

Yes, dc and I are doing them regularly. DH doesn’t think it’s necessary 🤬

plinkplinkfizzer · 29/11/2021 19:09

yes of course , doesn't everyone ?

plinkplinkfizzer · 29/11/2021 19:12

We just order them online . No kids at school or care profession .

tweezerman · 29/11/2021 19:14

@jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey

Told their line manager when he breaks the news to us that we need to cover their work.

Line manager is a bit weak.

@catfunk

I assume they've ordered them from gov website instead of going to the local pharmacy and therefore being back at their desk by mid morning 🤣

Yes, but what a faff trying to get them.

bigbluebus · 29/11/2021 19:41

Yes. Just had another box delivered this morning as we're on our last box. Usually pick a couple of boxes up from our local library every 3 weeks when I change the books. DH does them for work but I only do them if going near our friend who has cancer, visiting elderly relatives or going on holiday with friends where we are sharing accommodation. Don't have any school age DCs only adult.

Watapalava · 29/11/2021 19:43

Op I expect it’s because they say they have symptoms and lft are not for symptoms so they would need the postal pcr tests which you can’t get from chemist

Tho they could go and get a walk in test

Warblerinwinter · 29/11/2021 19:50

@catfunk

My tests come through my letter box op - Why are they waiting at home for them ?
Ha wish I’d read that this morning….I waited in all day for postman as I thought given they sent me a note to say they’d be delivered today they couldn’t post them. Then found they put them through letter box 🤦‍♀️
Galvantula · 29/11/2021 19:51

Yes

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/11/2021 19:51

No. I've stopped doing them since I had Covid in August. I go out to work and have a DS at primary.

Warblerinwinter · 29/11/2021 19:51

Just got my first box. I am retired. Don’t go out much. Live alone . Never had any symptoms. Didn’t know you could just request them in advance. My sil told me so now have a box.

VanGoghsDog · 29/11/2021 19:52

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon

Hundreds.

Work in care. My boss keeps giving us boxes of 30…

Struggling to store them.

Have you considered using them? Just a thought.....
TSSDNCOP · 29/11/2021 19:53

Yes loads and have tested twice a week for months. Upping that to three times in current circumstances

EdithWeston · 29/11/2021 19:55

DC bring them home from school for them.. I get a box from the pharmacy when I remember.

We usually have one box per person, and replace when down to the penultimate test

SpangleWhorl · 29/11/2021 19:55

Are people not Bradford scored on these absences?

Smurf123 · 29/11/2021 19:58

Yup though I miss my work saliva ones. @Carrotte ours are still throat and noise 30 min ones

SpangleWhorl · 29/11/2021 20:01

@tweezerman

Thanks.

If you work and or have children I would be surprised if you didn't have some at home.

Some work colleagues never cease to surprise me with excuses not to come into work whilst they await a delivery of tests. Usually on Friday or Monday 🤣

And I don't understand this either in the sense that LFTs are for symptomless people. The pack goes through the letterbox.
user7377378283 · 29/11/2021 20:06

Yeah I usually order them from the nhs

YukoandHiro · 29/11/2021 20:07

Yes three boxes in at the moment. We work from home but do them before we see family or friends. We have children in school and nursery so feel it's important to check

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/11/2021 20:17

What absences? We’re just taking lateral flow tests!
Scarby9 · 29/11/2021 20:19

Yes. Work in a school.
Test 2 x per week as standard.
More frequently when doing something requiring close contact or after what I judge a close call.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 29/11/2021 20:24

I have about 8 boxes of them people give them away at my doctors surgery. We test every few days

Hereticetta · 29/11/2021 20:27

Yes, always have a couple of boxes to hand.

Redcrayons · 29/11/2021 20:27

Loads of them.

Mostly from school. Dcs brought home 2 boxes a day for the first two weeks of term till I told them to stop. I also got a few boxes from someone who was handing them out in Tesco.
