Which would you choose?

@Libertaire

Neither.

The requirement for lockdowns is over. The vulnerable are vaccinated. Covid is becoming endemic.

It time to stop worrying, live with covid as we live with flu & get on with our lives

We are kinda locking down the unvaccinated though aren’t we? They need negative tests or evidence of vaccine to travel or attend certain events, they can’t do certain jobs , like caring or nhs from April, there are defintely steps under way to protect society from them, no way round it,
PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2021 22:10

I’m not a scientist involved in Covid, so yeah, I look at the credentials of the source, and if it’s official and peer reviewed I accept, I don’t demand to conduct my own tests, as I’m not qualified that way.,

I was asking that other poster why they’d accepted your claim without any question of what the source is

I am asking you @Bluntness100 where that claim is from so I can look at the source for myself. You haven’t supplied that yet

kowari · 14/11/2021 22:11

Neither. If any measures are needed then they should not discriminate. No full lockdown, I think that would cause more harm than good.

Allycott · 14/11/2021 22:11

I am fucking done with being told what I can and can't do due to covid. My mom died in April 2020 and we had six - six fucking people at her funeral - she was a social butterfly and was robbed - ROBBED of her last hurrah. We would only have had 30 people tops and could have socially distanced in the crem but NO - had to follow the bollocks rules of our council. Couldn't even bring her to her home where my dad went from. Yes I have issues with this and yes I'm angry. But no, no more shitty rules and no more lockdowns. We are all done.

tigger1001 · 14/11/2021 22:12

@KurtWilde

Rather insensitive to compare being asked to WFH and jog about to Joe Wicks to spending months in the trenches tbf

Rather insensitive to think this is all lockdown meant for people.

Agreed!

Lockdown was very difficult for a lot of people. Many will not recognise the "wfh and do joe wicks"

Mental health was precarious for many because of lockdown. School children struggling with both schooling and isolation.

Families worrying about how they were going to put food on the table and keep a roof over their head.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2021 22:13

What’s the source for this statistic? It seems quite out of date now we have data about vaccine effectiveness against infection and transmission waning.
There is no data on this, the main argument is that vaccinated people are more likely to be asymptomatic and apparently less likely to transmit it, that completely destroys the whole mask wearing, social distancing, isolation for those not showing any symtoms though?!!!

bluntness made a very specific claim about how effective the vaccine was about preventing transmission. I want to know where that number has come from. If people are going to state things like that as “factual”, they need to supply their source.

lljkk · 14/11/2021 22:14

Neither

Oh sorry, I didn’t realise that, just Google it’s all over the media, it was done on behalf of the world health organisation.
Benjispruce5 · 14/11/2021 22:15

Lockdown for those who can but choose not to be vaccinated.

ichundich · 14/11/2021 22:17

@User5632986

The unvaccinated has to include all the DC, no point in just locking up the adults
I think you've made your point now!!
PrincessNutNuts · 14/11/2021 22:17

@Sparklingbrook

Neither.Who is saying these are the options and we need to choose?
Nobody is.

I'm assuming everyone saying "neither" would plump for a package of NPIs implemented well in advance of winter to ensure there will be no need for any kind of lockdown?

Stuff like ventilation, HEPA filters, working from home, isolating contacts, an effective test and trace system, masks, etc.

isittheholidaysyet · 14/11/2021 22:19

Neither.

I'm vaccinated, but none of my friends are and most of my kids aren't. If we locked down the unvaccinated, there would be no point me going out, because I would be 'out' on my own.

I am totally against forced vaccination. What next? Forced sterilisation? Forced live organ donation? Forced euthanasia?

Also my eldest, who is vaccinated is in the middle of taking GCSEs which were cancelled in the summer. (As happened to him last summer too) if you lock up the unvaccinated, schools will be closed, he will be unable to take them (again), and will lose his 6th form place. Not fair!

PinkSkirt · 14/11/2021 22:20

For those saying neither, I’m guessing you don’t work for the NHS, or plan on being in a car accident or having a heart attack or needing hospital treatment this winter.

PinkSkirt · 14/11/2021 22:22

Those saying they are done, did 3 years into WW2 people just say I’m done and I’m switching on the lights at night and not going into the air raid shelter?
Wishful thinking could have ended this back in Jan 2020. FFS.

DaisyNGO · 14/11/2021 22:23

@Sparklingbrook

Neither.Who is saying these are the options and we need to choose?
Austria.
NoDecentHandlesLeft · 14/11/2021 22:23

It would be impossible to police a lockdown just for unvaccinated people, for a start.

PrincessNutNuts · 14/11/2021 22:25

Austria seem to have more of a "can do" attitude about that.

frumpety · 14/11/2021 22:25

After the last nearly two years, I honestly wouldn't rule out anything. The Austria lockdown seems a bit odd though, they can go out to the shops and to work ? That is essentially 90% of my outside the house life !

Bluntness100 · 14/11/2021 22:25

Good god. What country do you live in? The uk has no forced vaccination and that’s not what this thread is about, but life organ donation, forced euthanasia! What horrific things to compare a non existent thing to.

bumbleymummy · 14/11/2021 22:26

@Bluntness100 can you not link to the study though? Typically those types of claims are backed up by a link to where it came from. Otherwise we could all just pluck figures out of the air :)

Bluntness100 · 14/11/2021 22:28

Just Google it. It is not hard to find

I will provide a link to anything random and hard to find but when someone can’t be arsed and it’s all over the Internet and most media outlets,,nah, I am no one’s secretary, do it yourself. 😂

NoDecentHandlesLeft · 14/11/2021 22:28

@PrincessNutNuts, it's a smoke screen. Unless you post people outside every unvaccinated persons home to ensure they don't leave, who is going to be checking? No country has the man power to police this, whatever their attitude is or may be towards it. They can probably at a push prevent people working or require some sort of pass to enter public buildings. But who is going to check places like parks, markets etc?

Sparklingbrook · 14/11/2021 22:29

Confused Austria is making us choose between the options, but OP says nobody is?

DaisyNGO · 14/11/2021 22:31

I don't know why OP said that.

I’m planning my car accident in the Spring when things should be a bit better with covid.... planning my heart attack in Summer. 🤪
