Which would you choose?

@PurpleDaisies

You can define it however you want.

In that case it’s a totally meaningless question.

You can define it as the U.K. lockdown rules we're all familiar, with, OR the Austrian lockdown of the unvaccinated rules if you prefer.

Just decide whether you're you're applying it to all, or just the unvaccinated.

@Geamhradh It is precisely because previous generations suffered so appallingly that we should defend the freedoms they won.

It wasn’t just working from home etc. It was a period of accepting government bypassing democracy to tell us to stay at home. Imposed segregation from family and friends, with no room to make personal decisions. Limited reasons why we were allowed to leave our homes. And now ‘no jab no job’ for workers we applauded only last year.

It is ironic how much blind faith people put in their leaders. If a partner imposed everything I mentioned above we would hopefully recognise an abusive relationship.

I know what a lockdown was.
I'm in Italy v

Lockdown for unvaccinated and over 60s without a booster

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2021 21:42

People seem to use lockdown to mean all sorts of different things, from only leave your house in an emergency, to close all schools and work from home, to schools open but cafes shut, to everything open but mandatory masks…

Nobody ever seems to have the same view of what lockdown actually means.

User5632986 · 14/11/2021 21:43

Close the schools, most of them are unvaccinated

ThePoisonousMushroom · 14/11/2021 21:44

Neither.
But if there was to be a lockdown, then it should be for everyone. Two tier societies never end well.
I am vaccinated.

Overthebow · 14/11/2021 21:44

No lockdown for anyone. It’s not morally right now.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/11/2021 21:45

Shielding for the vulnerable; absolutely 100% back to normal for everyone else.

Sick to death of fit, healthy, vaccinated adults panicking over an illness which, for most of us, is no worse than the flu (and, yes, I have had it).

XenoBitch · 14/11/2021 21:45

Neither. Both are horrible options, and is just kicking the can down the road.

Pennypie · 14/11/2021 21:45

Great. Just what they want - divide and conquer.
Neither.

I don't think they'll be necessary again. Maybe small localised ones if vaccine/booster programmes stall and/or new vaccine resistant variants take hold. But nothing like last year.
SoftSheen · 14/11/2021 21:47

No more lockdowns, but enforce mask wearing in public indoor spaces, and show negative tests before entry into large indoor events.

I'm very much pro-vaccine, but the current vaccines unfortunately don't do much to stop the spread of the virus.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 14/11/2021 21:48

Neither.

Warhertisuff · 14/11/2021 21:49

If there had to be a lockdown, then for the unvaccinated.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 14/11/2021 21:49

This will be a very interesting experiment (Austrias approach) if their cases don't decline rapidly it will completely destroy covid passports and possibly undermine the whole vaccine push! A very dangerous approach in my opinion!

User5632986 · 14/11/2021 21:50

The unvaccinated has to include all the DC, no point in just locking up the adults

MauraandLaura · 14/11/2021 21:51

Neither!

We have to live with this now.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 14/11/2021 21:51

If the DC are locked up then a lot of vaccinated adults will be too by default. I can’t leave mine home alone, all under 8.

3cats4poniesandababy · 14/11/2021 21:51

They can close shops and they can close schools but I am not being kept away from my friends and family. Either this vaccine works or it doesn't but we have to live with this virus now and lockdowns are not the type of life I am willing to live.

PrincessNutNuts · 14/11/2021 21:52

@loudbatperson

I don't think a lockdown for the unvaccinated would work.

I am vaccinated, but laying here ill with Covid, having caught it of my also vaccinated daughter.

We have been very careful throughout, but have been unlucky. We don't know exactly where my daughter caught it from (likely school) but she passed it over to me.

A significant chunk of unvaccinated people in the U.K. are under 18, and since they'd still go to school...

...And covid in un-mitigated schools is what leads to more cases...

..which leads to time off school, time off work, chaos in education, economic downturns, the health service not being able to do its usual work, hospitalisations and deaths...

I'm inclined to agree with you.

It is precisely because previous generations suffered so appallingly that we should defend the freedoms they won.

@Flyonawalk Freedoms like travelling on public transport without wearing a mask and not getting vaccinated when you’re medically able, even though you know full well that you’re putting others at greater risk, you mean?

I don’t think the freedom to be a selfish twat and not give a fuck about anyone else was what previous generations had in mind, somehow Hmm

User5632986 · 14/11/2021 21:53

That's tough then isn't it, no point in half measures, no difference between unvaccinated adult and child
